In this recorded live performance from the Sofa Sounds 48 event at Great Pulteney Street in Bath on 28 July 2017, the sole performer (Speaker A) introduces the piece as "Never Let Me Go" and then delivers the full lyrical content of the song. The lyrics are a stream‑of‑consciousness meditation on fear, longing, and the tension between release and restraint. Vivid imagery—mist, fog, fire, a gun, water—interweaves with repeated refrains such as "I hope it burns me now" and "I hope you never let me go," creating a cyclical, hypnotic structure. The speaker’s tone shifts from tentative introduction to an intense, almost paranoid delivery, emphasizing emotional vulnerability and the struggle to let go. The video captures only the spoken/sung words, providing a clear textual representation of the song’s thematic core and performance style.

Um, this next song is called Never Let Me Go. Oh, what's the point of this? Are you aware what we've done? Once we have cleared the mist, I'm left alone in the sun. It's getting late now, dear, but we can't stop once we run. There's nothing left to fear. But there's a shot in your gun. If you aim it right, you'll hit me down. If you never look back, you'll never find out. I see the fog form in your eyes. Palest clues turn into fire. I hope it burns me now. I hope it never lets me go. I hope you burn me now. I hope you never let me go. It's paranoia, I guess, to be afraid you won't speak. And still I try my best so that you won't forget me. I don't believe all that shit, it's empty. Look at me. Give me the duck and commit, it's empty, baby. If you aim it right, you'll hit me too. 'Cause I can make you stop, stop dead in your tracks. If you never look back, then you'll never find out. But see the water in your eyes. Hail of flames turned into fire. I hope it burns me now. I hope it never lets me go. I hope you burn me now. I hope you never let me go. I hope it burns me now. I hope it never lets me go. I hope you burn me now. I hope you never let me, never let me go. I hope you never let me go. I hope you never let me go.
