Sofa Sounds 48 Great Pulteney Street Bath 28th July 2017 2
The YouTube video presents a fragmented, multi‑voice poetic performance recorded at Sofa Sounds 48 in Bath. Six speakers (A‑G) deliver overlapping verses that explore themes of deception, the search for meaning, emotional rupture, and existential yearning. Recurrent motifs—"lie," "sky," "dark," "glory," and "broken heart"—are woven through repeated lines and echoing phrases, creating a layered emotional landscape. The piece oscillates between introspective confession (e.g., "my lies, my lies"), calls for illumination ("tell me something about glory"), and symbolic imagery of sky and darkness that frame the speakers' inner turmoil. The structure relies heavily on repetition and the interplay of distinct voices, emphasizing the fragmented nature of the narrator’s psyche and the collective resonance of shared pain.
