Short excerpt from a YouTube video by Larry Weidel (uploaded/created by Larry Weidel) in which the speaker reflects on how ideas arise unexpectedly, often via other people, and on human unawareness of approaching tipping points — using metaphors like planets aligning and glaciers melting to stress how rapidly change can occur when preparedness meets triggering events.

If you were out there circulating and then somebody, you know, ideas come from a million different places. Those words could have come from anywhere, but it happened to come from another person who knew you and said, boom. And it's funny, we can be prepared for things that we don't even know we're being prepared for. And we can be very close to a tipping point. And we're just so tied up in our day to day activity, we not even realize what's happening and how the planets are aligning, how the glacier is melting and getting ready for a big piece to fall off, that when it happens, it can happen very fast.
