A speaker recounts being an "accidental entrepreneur": after university a planned job fell through when the hiring company was bought, prompting a move to London and meeting a business partner (Chris). At age 22 they co-founded a digital marketing agency serving luxury and premium brands, starting from a tiny office and growing it slowly over eight to nine years.
I'm kind of what I'd call an accidental entrepreneur in a lot of ways. So I was all set to go down the sort of more traditional job route, as it were. So at university I did work experience, found this insurance company, which I quite enjoyed, did a little bit of work there, and they got offered a job at the end of college or university, and I was all set to do that, moved to London, and then the company was bought that I was about to join and so kind of left with nothing to do, so sort of had already moved to London. And then I met a guy called Chris, who was my business partner of my first business, and he sort of said, look, I'm, you know, thinking of doing this thing. And I said, that sounds absolutely amazing. We couldn't have had less of a clue, but we decided to start a digital marketing agency. So I was 22 at the time when I started this. So we decided to start a digital marketing company that essentially provided marketing for luxury and premium brands. And so we set our store, had a tiny little office and slowly grew it over the next eight, nine years, really.
