A short motivational monologue (YouTube video) arguing that life operates on a give-and-take causal logic: you must sacrifice effort, time, and resources to earn desired outcomes. The speaker emphasizes teaching children to earn rather than be entitled, framing life as a series of choices where trade-offs produce results.
Life is push and pull, give and take. Anything you want, you've got to sacrifice for. And that's why we're not really doing our kids a favor. When we're growing up with parents, we want to give things to them. Give, but, you know, let them have this, let them have that. But the important thing is let them earn it. Teach them how life works. Because in life, it's not just give, give, give, take, take, take. That turns you into a little narcissist, selfish, entitled monster. And that's not how life works. Life is. If you do this, then you get this. That's life. If you do this, then you get this. And then the deal with, with all of us is we've got to decide, well, what do we want? And then, you know, how can we start making the adjustments to give up time, energy, resources, effort, relationships, other choices so that we can get the thing that we want? It's yin and yang. It's give and take. It's push and pull. That's the way life works. If you do this, then you get that.
