How To Use The Building Blocks Of Growth - Part 2

This YouTube presentation (Larry Weidel) describes a three-step process for managing rapid expansion: start by recruiting a first wave of rookies to do front-line, low-skill work; sustain recruiting so they generate prospects and leads; then develop the best performers into managers who replicate the founder's role, creating additional capacity and stability and allowing continued growth. The talk emphasizes compounding effects as management raises the organization's ceiling and floor.
Let's take just this. Utilizing building blocks of growth just one step further and here we have. You're starting to add more and more people. This is you. Now. The reason I've got you in green is that you are essentially management. Everybody else is a rookie. These are the stages we go through. Always when we're going rapid expansion. You have in the beginning, it's just you, you wanted to help, now you're covered up with help and they need to learn stuff. So you're run ragged. But that'll change now because they're prospecting, they're stirring up a lot of business, a lot of prospects, a lot of leads for you. Now you're finding that what you've done is you got there because you kept that first wave, the recruiting wave going. Now you're following through, you're trading them and you're starting to get some great results now. You know, you're getting the payoff, you're getting the results. It's working for you, it's paying off for you, but you still run ragged. But here's what you're going to find. The best and brightest of those will start to turn into management themselves. You'll start developing some other people. So the third wave will kick in and you'll start to get some relief. And that will allow you to continue to add in more people as your management comes in, it's going to allow you to continue to grow up here with more and more people. And because you'll have more time to train, keep you moving forward in all of these directions. What will allow you to do that is the fact that you've got management coming up behind you. The best and brightest are going to be to do the same thing you have. And so all of a sudden where it was just you running around, now, bam, you got a new manager. You know, the best and brightest are getting the picture. Bam. More and more are getting in there. Maybe some of them are not picking it up as quick as others, so it might be taking them a little longer to get it, but you know, they're getting bits and pieces. So step by step they're getting to where they can do this stuff on their own. So you see now step by step, people are becoming more and more familiar, getting more management help that allows you to continue growing your recruiting campaign. So it's a three step process and starts with recruits, starts with you getting recruits. They help you do basically the front work, the grunt work, the finding work, the setup, the administrative, the low skill activities, working through them. Now more and more of your time is productive. So your payoff number, this is the one you're really after right here. This is the big, this is the big payoff. You know, this is what you know you're going to build your future with. This is how you make your name in the marketplace and make your impact. If you're a politician, get your votes. You know, this is the payoff. And so that's going to be taken off. And the reason you're going to continue to still climb with your recruiting is because of step three here. Your management team will be coming in behind you. You know, they're going to be growing, they're going to be compounding and they're going to be raising the ceiling. Step three, they're going to be raising the floor of what you're going to be able to get done. So that's how you add your stability, getting the last piece in there. The management team.
