If you’re leading a team and you’re not paying attention, something’s going to sneak past you!

When you're a leader, there's a lot of things you've got to do for the team. You got to have the vision and keep everybody motivated and keep everything moving. You got to get results. But one thing you got to do is make sure you're staying alert. You got to keep yourself in a positive frame of mind and all, but you've got to stay alert. You can't just fall asleep at the switch because things do go wrong. Not everybody who comes along with a great idea is— that's going to be in your favor, or a good idea, or so it's easy to get sidetracked. It's easy to get blindsided. And so if you're a leader, one of the things to do in addition to Inspiring your team and leading by example is stay on the alert. You're like a guard dog, a watchdog for your company. You got to protect them from harm. You got to protect them from distractions so you as a team can get the things done that you're all committed to do and will give you the biggest return on your investment. If you're a leader, stay alert.
