Dan Martell (speaker) urges real-estate agents to expand their contact databases by adding overlooked personal, household, community, and professional contacts. He lists concrete categories — e.g., dentists, family doctors, accountants, landscapers, repair people, electricians, teachers, coaches, school administrators, hairstylists, local government contacts, office managers, HR directors, and business owners — and emphasizes getting permission to add them, treating database-building as a long-term activity that compounds over years.
So who do I already know that isn't in my database? Who's my dentist? Who's my children's dentist? Your doctor, your spouse's doctor, your children's doctor. Who does your taxes. This is a really good one. If your accountant isn't in your database and you're not sending them items of value, you're potentially missing multiple transactions here. Who cuts your grass? Your landscape guy. And it could be different than your landscape guy. It's likely. They're cutting 100 lawns a week. So. So they may know people that are moving. You know before anyone else who does your repairs, your security system, your painter, your plumber, your electrician. So this is a list. Your children's teachers, their coaches, their friends, parents who are your close friends, members of your family. Your hairstylists are really good. Think of the people that can expand your database very quickly. Do you know any of the school administrators? The principal at your kids school? Any local government people? Office managers, HR directors? Business owners are the best because you're a business owner, they're a business owner. The struggle is real. You can relate to them. Get permission to add them to your database and they could be a really good source for you. That's not a fun activity, quote unquote. It's not going to yield fruit today. But the best time to have start building a database that is like so dialed in, that is like ripe and ready for deals to come out would have been like five years ago. If you haven't done it then today is the time.
