A real estate coach reflects on Bob Buford's Halftime framework after hearing it on a run in Hilton Head at 44. Having built wealth and a coaching business, they now focus on impact over success, using three-year visions and 90-day cycles to help other agents grow.
I read a book by Bob Buford called Halftime and I remember I was listening to it on my 44th birthday. Like literally on the day in Hilton Head, I took a long run. I don't know what I was training for, but it's this concept of like success and significance. You kind of climb the first mountain which is like, we're going to sell the homes, make the money, accumulate the stuff or whatever. And then the second mountain is typically where nobody gets to. But the, but the second mountain is like, how do we help others? Or how do we, you know, break a cycle in a family? There's that second mountain that a lot of people don't get to. So for me, I built the team, I built the coaching business. I've got all this stuff and the wealth. But the second mountain now is, you know, like, how many agents can I help? I can unplug and do nothing, but that's not real valuable. I know God doesn't want that for me. Now how many agents can I help along their journey? It may be early for you, but it just came up for me. But just think about that, like what is the ultimate impact you're going to have? I've always operated with a three year vision, a one year plan, 90 day cycles, and then like, am I actually working on the thing this week that I said I was going to work on for the quarter in the year and the, and the three year vision?
