A real estate agent shares his numbers from the 2007-2009 crash: 27 deals in 10 months, then 44, then 58 the next year. He credits one lead source, one script, and one activity done every morning, even when he was doing everything wrong.
My first 10 months in the business, the market hadn't quite shifted yet. In 2007, I did 27 transactions in 10 months. I was the top agent in a very small brokerage, about 20 agents. And I don't say that to brag. I just say it, that it was so simple, what I was doing, that I think anyone can do it, yet very, very few agents do it. My first full year in real estate was when the market was shifting dramatically. The Great recession started in 2008. I sold 44 transactions. 58 in 2009. By the end of 2009, I had generated between 1.1 and $1.2 million of gross commission income. Now, I made all the mistakes that you could possibly make, but it was very simple. One lead source, one script, one activity. And I just focused on, like, my mornings.
