How Justin Udy Has Freed Up His Time Using Lars' Systems

Justin Udy (Salt Lake City, Utah) gives a testimonial about working with coach Lars beginning in early 2014. He reports measurable growth in transactions (67 in their first year, 102 the following year, and a target of 140 in the current year) and describes operational changes: clearer accountability, checklists, team expansion (from solo agent + assistant + one buyer's agent to a larger leveraged team), and more personal time. He emphasizes forward planning (3 months to 5 years) and the value of a coach who is actively working in real estate rather than a retired/outsider coach.

Justin Ude out of Salt Lake City, Utah. I started working with Lars in the beginning of 2014. That year, we had closed 67 transactions. And then this year, the following year closed 102. And then this year, we're on target for 140. And it's just been a continual process of growth. I went to a networking event, not even a networking event, actually, to another coaching event. And I was sitting there thinking, man, I really need to figure out this business. And Lars sat next to me. So I sat next to Lars. We talked about our businesses. He talked about some of the things that he'd done a little bit different. We connected. I felt like some of the different tools and things that he had recommended to me even previously seemed to make sense. And so we started working together. So when you did start working together, what changes have you been making within your business? It's really been me trying to figure out, not only figuring out accountability for the different people that I'm working with so that people know their exact job and the core that they're doing, so they have exact checklists of things that they can do. Also just activating just different sources of sources where we can maybe create additional business. So we're not essentially chasing it and we're attracting it, but we took the business and, you know, it came from me being a solo agent with an assistant and one buyer's agent, to being able to just grow it into something that is more than myself and something we're able to leverage and allowed just a really good opportunity for not only agents, but also something that you could, you know, have more time with family and have more time and energy where I could do the things that I wanted to do. And that was where I was suffering. The time just wasn't there. And so by allowing more people into the business, it allowed me to give more time without suffering. You know, when you're the core person of producing the deals, if you're not working, you're not making money. And so this allowed me to still make money and even try to create more business, but still not making more time of my family maybe suffering. First one was a smaller group. Next group was bigger. Next group's bigger. Every time, it's really good to sit down. And I think what Lars has done really good is help us just really make us think about our business. You don't just think three and six months ahead, but now you're thinking three months, six months, a year ahead, two years, five years, and you're starting trying to think things and it's interesting, over the last basically year and a half of how much that year and a half, how, when I've written down those goals from a year and a half ago, like, literally they have hit those now. So it is interesting to see that dynamic and, you know, I've been really thankful for it. The plan that he has been able to do through the coaching calls, I think it allows you to think through it because in general he's. He is talking to a, you know, when he is kind of giving the. Some of the coaching calls, it is a general audience, but the platform can be tweaked and changed for every business. I have a goal to hit X amount of transactions and do something, you know, totally different than somebody that's like, I just want to be super hyper productive and do X amount of deals. And, you know, some people are even, you know, I would assume you could take it to a different level with a different business where you're taking that model in production and making those adjustments. I think by having Lars, it's very different when you go to a coach that was in the business 20, 30, 40, 50 years ago and they did X amount of deals because real estate is completely different. The truth is, is they're not in touch with what the true business is because they don't do product. They know coaching, but they don't understand how to actually get a deal done. And so by being able to go to Lars, I mean, it's someone that's literally entrenched in the business that understands the dynamics, the different objections, the way that people are handling business in general and they understand what the competition is, where other people understand it because they hear it, but they're not in it. And I think having that sense has really made a difference in helping. When you have different objections, it's not just from the script book that maybe a coach would read to you. It's something that's really they have encountered because they're in the business, working in it.
