This YouTube motivational talk provides a practical method for goal-setting: choose one primary goal plus three one-year goals, write them on paper with space between, and under each goal write a strongly worded, emotionally charged "why" (positive reasons) and a negative consequence if you fail. The speaker emphasizes that the emotional reasons will drive behavior more than the goal itself and that making failure painful increases motivation.
You picked your number one goal, put it on a separate sheet of paper. Then pick your top three one year goals, put them on a separate sheet of paper. Recognizing, like I said, that, that. That people underestimate what they can do in a year and mass. I'm sorry, overestimate what they can do in a year and massively underestimate what they can do in a longer period of time. So you've got four goals. Leave some room in between them. Like I said, if you download that guide@rozlinks.com youm'll be just right on that. You can use a piece of paper. Okay. At this point you're ahead of 99.9% of the people on the planet to do a New Year's resolution that's forgotten by February. But there's one more really important step you need to write down underneath each one of those goals. Why it's an absolute freaking must for you to achieve. Ok. And you want to use emotionally charged words. Words like amazing, beautiful, incredible when you're writing your descriptions. So I can show my kids what incredible success looks like. So I can show my wife what it means to live a life of amazing abundance. To so we can have complete freedom to do whatever we want, whenever we want, wherever we want, bring whoever we want. Whatever's going to juice you, write it down and make it compelling. Because it's the why that's going to drive you and much more than the goal itself. Once you've got a reason why underneath each goal and we're almost done, put a negative reason. If you don't achieve the goal, put some negative impact in there. If you don't achieve the goal, make it freaking hurt. So I don't feel like a failure. So I don't fail my kids. So I don't fail my husband or wife. So I don't live a life of regret.
