A recorded presentation arguing that real-estate agents should build repeatable listing systems so the business can operate without the agent’s day-to-day involvement. The speaker frames a 90-day project to create a listing workflow — from taking a listing to contract — that minimizes the agent’s hands-on time and often performs better than the agent working alone.
The E myth, the entrepreneurial myth, is that if you stepped out of your business for a day, nothing is there. There's no systems whatsoever. There's no guidelines around how we take listings and the timing for listings and there's no checklist. And even a little bit of involvement in some of that is enough to have you thinking that it can't run without you. I had zero involvement. Once I took a listing, it was here. I hope it sells. When I was the listing agent on the team, my goal was to take five listings a week. So all I could really do was go on listing appointments, build systems, lead the team. And this is every 90 days you're going to commit to in 90 days from now, we're going to have a listing system that doesn't involve me. Once I take the listing, it goes active to, it goes under contract. I have very little involvement. That's a worthy 90 day project or system to build. But a little system like that, it can operate without the agent that takes the listing and it operates at a level that's better than you could do it on your own. That's the key.
