What's up Business Freedom podcast listeners. Lars Hedinborg here, founder of Real Estate B School and co founder of High Performance Real Estate advice things up a little bit. I look back on a list that I keep of all of our podcasts and I've probably done like seven or eight in a row about crisis and market shift and uncertain times and business and marriage are hard. So I just wanted to do an episode on the apps on my iPhone and how I really honestly think they can change your life. So I'm probably going to go through 10 of my favorite apps on my phone and I don't know, wherever you listen to this, if there's a way to share your favorite apps, go ahead and do so. There is one app that in terms of just doing the things you need to do every day to get a little bit better every day. If you haven't read the book Atomic Habits by James Clear, this app, it's called Strides, I'm going to show you the if you watch the on YouTube, if you go to Real Estate B School on YouTube, you can see the little app. It's a little blue app with it's called Strides there you can see it. So just lines. I don't have notifications turned on except my private email, my text and Strides and actually Hangouts, I use chat with Hangouts. So Strides, it allows you to put all of your daily habits in there. So in a day, first thing in the morning I drink water and I have this liquid vitamin protobite that I use. I do my morning meditation on Headspace. I I do my meditation, I read my bible, do my morning journal, have a green smoothie. I drink a gallon of water throughout the day. I exercise for 45 minutes. I have been starting pushups and then I do my evening journal and so that is it tracks all of that. So that app I've used a couple of habit tracker apps and a good example of this James Clear Atomic Habits. There's a video on YouTube 1% better every day. Go to YouTube search 1% better every day. James Clear. It's like 24, 25 minutes and an example of this, I decided that I wanted to get more fit. I think I was we were on spring break in Hawaii and I just noticed some guys were fitter than other guys and I tend to be a less fit in terms of just the way I carry myself and my upper body. And so I decided that I wanted to start doing push push ups and I was going to track it on Strides and you can't make Fun of me for where I started, but I was going to do four sets and a minute break in between each one. And I'm going to show it to you here because it's pretty pathetic. Not proud of it, but I started at 37 on March 10th and I did 92 on March 31st. So 21 days later. And I committed to doing it every day, well, hopefully forever. So it's just really cool with a simple app like Strides, just coming up with one thing you wanted to focus on, don't put 10 in there all at once. It won't be fun. So that's one app. My second most favorite app is Headspace. I've been struggling to learn how to meditate for a long, long time. I have seen all of the studies. I've listened to all the podcasts from really successful business people that say the one thing that gives them the biggest advantage in business. Meditation. And so I finally, with that app, cracked the code on meditating and now it's just part of my morning routine. The cool thing about Headspace is that they take you through learning how to meditate and how to go about it. So they have three 10 day lessons. So 30 days where they're just teaching you and you're practicing. So really, really cool. Highly recommended. My next favorite app is Abide, and this is part of my morning routine if you listen to that podcast. But I'm going to go through some more apps as well. Abide is a Scriptural, like a bible meditation app. It's amazing. It's super awesome. The YouVersion Bible, the Five Minute Journal. I journal in the morning and at night and I just use a simple app, 5 Minute Journal. You're on the video part of this. You can see I attach an image to each day and then each day there's just. I'm grateful for three amazing things that happened today. How I could have made today better. What will I do to make today great? So that's super simple. And again, it's in my Strides app. So it's a habit that I'm definitely going to crush. The most favorite app of mine has to be Audible. So I consume a lot of books. I don't physically read books. So audible is. If you don't have audible and you want to be legit in business, you can see the. It's just a little orange with the opening of a book. It's unbelievably awesome that a guy or a girl can put their life's work into a book. Record the audio version of it and you can listen to in six to eight hours you can learn anything that from somebody that has spent their whole life doing that thing. It is unbelievably awesome. And so that is a no brainer if you want to be successful. The books I am listening to I am listening to the Infinite Game by Simon Sinek. I went through the ruthless elimination of Hurry which was awesome. I went through Boundaries for Leaders by Henry Cloud. I've still got to listen to his Boundaries in Marriage book. That was really good. Irresistible by Andy Stanley. Was powerful, indistractable, was cool. What else? I'm giving you some think, think, act, be like Jesus. That was cool. Randy Frazier Frazzy. The five Day Weekend by Garrett Gunderson was pretty awesome. Raising Human Beings by Ross Greene. We've got a challenging child and that one was really cool. You know it was really good. Finding Ultra by Rich Roll. It was a long book if I remember. Yeah, it was like 10 hours long but it was really good. It was just how this guy, he was kind of down and out and how he turned his life around. So that is an awesome app. I think that's honestly about it. I think I could probably give away every other app I'll say the G Suite app. So with my iPhone I don't use the native app for email or Calendar. I use the actual like Google version of Mail and the Google version of Calendar. They've made those versions so unbelievably powerful. And all the functionality from your desktop translates to your phone. And so I wouldn't advise using the native versions of Calendar no matter what your phone is, Calendar or email. And then I also use Hangouts which is basically with my team, it's through G Suite, Google Suite and it integrates all of us and it's kind of like a texting but it's native within the G Suite environment. Oh, one more. This little app called turboscan it seems stupid and it's not. Is so cool. Like you just take. It's so easy to scan pages of stuff and email them to yourself or to other people. And there's one more here. My productivity LastPass has been awesome. Stacy Peterson got me on that one. Here's the other thing too. Just you'll see that I only have a little badge app icon, a little notification on my mail, my text and on that Strides app. So anytime there's a number there, I've turned notifications off on everything on my phone and I only have notifications on the things that and I only check my private email So I have a private email that nobody knows. Ten people probably know my private email. And I have an assistant, someone va that helps go through my emails and doesn't send me the ones that I don't need to be involved in. So that's sort of a different lesson. How to get out of email. I may do a podcast episode on that. That's a writer downer. How I got out of email, I might do one on that. So anyway, I hope this was helpful. I just wanted to lighten up a little bit. I'm not on my phone very much. I've eliminated all the stuff that's distracting on it. I don't do social media on it. I don't consume news. I wouldn't recommend either of those things. This can be really valuable with the things that I mentioned, mainly my morning routine, communicating with my team and the habits throughout the day.
