Simple Strategies and Constant Accountability Allowed Johna Walker to Exit Her Business

Jonna Walker, a real estate agent with 10 years' experience, worked with coach Lars for a year to build systems and accountability. She learned to delegate, built a team, and stepped out of daily operations. Her focus shifted from doing the work herself to leading the business.
I'm Jonna Walker. I'm from St. Robert, Missouri, military community right outside of Fort Leonard Wood. I've been in real estate about 10 years and working with Lars right at a year. I met Lars in actually another mastermind group, and I always admired his brilliance. He's a really smart guy, and so when I heard that he was coaching, I knew immediately that I wanted to work with him just on getting away from a lot of good ideas. Not that good ideas aren't a good thing, but I wanted to more on the basics, because I have the attention span of a gnat, and so I'm constantly flying off into different directions, and I need a good foundation in the basics. And I knew that that's something that Lars had mastered. And I, too, need the very same thing to be a better business person. I would say my first coach was focused on coaching my team, which isn't a bad thing, except from a money standpoint. I was more interested in building my business, understanding my business, being a better business person, and I really was not in a position to be spending quite so much money on my team members, so putting a lot of money into buyer's agents that might cycle through in a year or two. So what I needed was someone that was a better business coach teaching me how to be a better business person and then allowing me to coach my team members. Another coach that I had was a great masterminding and great good ideas, which was very motivating and a lot of fun. But at the end of the day, there was no implementation, there was no accountability. And so those are great ideas. But I need somebody that will not only foster those good ideas in each of us, but keep us grounded enough to actually implement the things that we're learning and the good ideas that we have and just build a really strong foundation of being a business person and establishing a good business model, whether it's real estate or auto mechanics or whatever you're doing. I had to become a better business person. And that's what I get from Lars. I really want to learn how to run any business, which I think I'll get those tools here as well. I've worked myself out of my business for two, three years now, and that was a goal actually, I really never even dreamed of. I didn't even dream that when I first came into real estate. But as I got exposed to successful agents in the business, I realized, gosh, that could be a goal for me. So it became a goal for me, and I achieved it. And now I just really want to improve my business model in my area. And honestly, it's been a lot of fun building a team and building a team culture. That also wasn't really ever a goal for me, but it gets me out of bed every day, and I get excited about that. It's kind of something that I didn't expect from, you know, putting a team together and building a business is that those. Those would. The incredible payoffs. When I came into real estate, I thought I would meet clients and show them houses and connect their family with our community. And I thought that would kind of be my wow for life. And it's turned into our business has become an opportunity to see our team members grow and see us grow personally as well as professionally.
