A short motivational/advice segment for real estate agents explaining why many agents struggle to get clients in a slow market. The speaker attributes the problem to poor habits (distraction, not honoring time blocks) rather than external factors like interest rates or inventory, and recommends disciplined time-blocking and prioritized, direct conversations with potential buyers and sellers (organic inbound leads) as the path to more face-to-face meetings and business.
Most every market has two things going for it. They have too many agents and not enough home selling. And this has been this way probably for the last two years and it's probably not going to end for the next 12 to 24 months. Here's the advice I would give an agent that is blaming interest rates or they're blaming inventory or they're blaming too many agents in their market is you need to figure out what activities will give you the best chance at getting face to face with would be buyer and seller clients. And typically it's if I could sit on your shoulder for a period of two weeks and I could evaluate everything you're doing in the business, when you pick up your phone, when you get distracted, when you're on social media, when you're not doing your new business development, when you know you should be, I could easily diagnose the problem. Typically it's an inability to sit still long enough to do the thing most agents aren't willing to do and that's have conversations with potential buyers and potential sellers. I'm not talking cold calling or paying for leads. And this assumes that you have lead generation systems set up so you have leads coming in. These are your organic inbound leads. So assuming you have those systems set up, the prerequisite for success in any sales industry for sure real estate, because there are way too many agents, is sit down, do the work time block, know that the time is valuable and honor those time blocks.
