A short motivational YouTube talk arguing that the main barrier preventing real estate agents from growing is mindset about delegating core tasks. The speaker shares a personal anecdote about being excellent at listing appointments yet finding others who could match or surpass their conversion rates, and urges agents to consider trade-offs (hours vs. revenue) and training others over time rather than abandoning responsibilities overnight. The piece emphasizes that delegation and finding/trainable people (e.g., for showing homes or working with millennials) are possible and essential for scaling.
Everyone can do things better than me. I believe in my heart that everyone can do things better than me. And I know the kind of money I want to make for the hours I put in. There's someone out there that can show a home better than me. I think there's somewhere someone that can do listing appointments better than me. And I was really good at listing appointments. And I found multiple agents that could close at the same, if not a higher percentage than I could, even on listing appointments. Could you imagine getting out of listing appointments and thinking I'm the only one? When I say it's mindset, I really do mean that it's mindset. And it doesn't mean that you can't do those things. You could totally do those things, but you have to realize that you're sacrificing something to do those things. So there's only so many hours in a week. Those may be the best. I'm not here to tell you that that's not the best use of your time. I am here to challenge you on the mindset behind it. Is it true that only you can work with millennials the way that you can work with them? Is it possible as we scale your revenue and scale your transactions, is it possible that you could find a super dialed in millennial that you could train that could connect with these millennials quicker, that could show homes the way you show homes that. That you could train them? Is it possible that you could find such a person? For sure, it's possible. And everything comes in season, so it's not like you're going to pull the plug on everything right away. It's not like I got out of listing appointments my first year in the business.
