Lars Hedenborg breaks down a quarterly planning system for real estate agents: pick 3-7 major goals per quarter, then protect specific time blocks each day for prospecting and deep work. His Q4 rocks include recruiting four agents, improving buyer conversions, and cutting expenses.
Hey, Real Estate B School community. Lars Hedenborg here and the founder of Real Estate B School. And hopefully first thing I want to say is that if you're impacted by the hurricane, just my prayers and thoughts and just well wishes to you family members. We're in Charlotte, North Carolina, so we're getting some rain, but nothing too crazy. So that's the first thing. Second thing is that we are in the fourth quarter in real estate. That means like we're probably about six, seven weeks away from the end of the year. And here is the message for this week. It's about gsd. It's getting done. Right. You can use your mind, your imagination on the S. Right? Getting stuff done, let's say that. But it's a little bit more explicative than that. And the way I built my business, it's not this magical thing, right? It's not a big surprise. It's not, you know, man, he's just so smart. It's. I've just been a methodical and relentless implementer of stuff. And there's a rhythm to it. So it's a quarterly rhythm. So I pick really meaningful rocks. Big rocks, big projects for the quarter, right. Three to seven, typically about five projects that my real estate team is working on to move the business forward in the most meaningful way this quarter to set myself up for an amazing 2017. So for Q4, for me, it's Recruit 4 Agents. It's optimized conversion on my buyer agent side. It's implement some marketing pillars or go deeper on some. And it's reduced expenses in preparing for, you know, market's slowing down a little bit. There may be a shift and just optimizing expenses. So really good rocks that we've chosen for the team. And then we've got departments and functions and they have rocks. So we've got more rocks than that, but that's the first thing. And then it's the weekly rhythm. So the way you crush your week, you should see somewhere. We've given it away for free. It's a dominate your day program that we work on and it's basically got a little different format that we use in the coaching program. But basically you've got to make decisions with your time every day and you've got to keep track of your projects. You have to sort of keep track of every time block, half hour time block from 5am to 10pm You've got to have accounted for, including your health, including your time for your spouse, for your kids, including new business development time, 8 o' clock to 11 o'. Clock. You've got to protect that time. You cannot give that time away. You've got to shift toward a prospecting culture. If you don't have one already, I mean, that's a guaranteed must. And if you have a team, you gotta lead by example in that area. And then on top of that, probably the most important thing every day, you've gotta take a little bit of time to just be grateful and really kind of just be grateful for all the good that is in our world and how far we've come in our personal lives and our professional lives. Right. As entrepreneurs, we suffer from. It's kind of a double vision sort of thing. So there's constantly clouds around everywhere. And if you guys could see it's raining here, that's kind of our everyday. It's cloudy, it's rainy, it's stormy. There's just challenges. And then you've got to be disciplined enough to carve out some blue sky even while there's a storm going around. And so you've got to carve out time to think about the future version of your business. And, and really by doing this quarterly rhythm, we call it the 90 day world in Real Estate B School, it allows you to carve out that time to really move your business forward. So that's my encouragement for all of you this week is carve out time to think about your business differently. Really slice up your time into those different categories. 5am to 10pm that's the entrepreneurial workday. If you're going to take care of your health and take care of your relationships and if you're a man of faith or a woman of faith, you know, carve out that time with God. You've got to have that long day. And those first couple hours of the day is probably the most quiet where you can get the most stuff done when it comes to your health and your just time with your creator. So that's the encouragement. GSD is the theme for today. If you have any interest in talking to us, we are opening back up our strategy sessions to new clients. So there's a link below here.
