A short YouTube quick-tip ("Quik-Tip: Practice Schmactice!") by Lisa Murphy contrasting mindless repetition with "perfect practice." The speaker demonstrates with a step-sequence example how practicing moves in the wrong order reinforces errors, argues that mentors/coaches provide corrective feedback so practice becomes "perfect practice," and ends with a call-to-action link for more tips.

Welcome to another quick tip from limited to limitless Is practice getting you nowhere? Are you just spinning in circles? Everyone has heard the saying practice makes perfect. Unfortunately, that statement is patently untrue. The truth is what and how you practice is what you become. For instance, if I have a pattern to repeat, that should be Walk three steps, turn left, walk two steps, stop, back up one step and turn right. But I practice walk two steps, stop, turn left, walk three steps, turn right. I am practicing nearly all of the moves but not in the right order and not actually all of the moves. The more I practice the wrong way, the less I will recognize what the right way is. Perfect practice comes from having mentors and coaches that help you feel the perfect in the practice as they watch you perform. Practice perfectly and you won't have to work as hard to be correct.
