It's time to get 2020 vision for the next year and decade ahead. This is your time. Welcome back to the well Women Co podcast. I am so thankful you're here. My name is Brooke Peterson, your host and ladies. It's the most wonderful time of the year. Or is it? The holidays are right around the corner and we want to empower you over at well Woman Co to step into holidays this year prepared to give your best.
Yes. I've been married for almost seven years actually that's wrong. Going on eight years.
And this was the very first year.
My husband and I finally got our act together and actually planned out our entire holiday season from Thanksgiving to New Year's.
And although we penciled in a few.
Of our family gatherings and actual events.
That we'll be attending, we spent the majority of this time talking through what we value most about the holidays, like how we want to feel, how we wanted to serve, and most of all how we wanted to intentionally slow down as a family to actually soak in.
The reason for this season instead of letting the holidays happen to us.
I know we can all relate on that point, so a few takeaways. This is just a little peek into the Peterson family this year for the holidays was valuing the Advent calendar leading.
Up to Christmas and really taking advantage.
Of fun and kid friendly advent books we can read each day as a family.
We bought this really cute Advent calendar.
Fabric off of Etsy, so each day we'll put in a little gift or a little to do or a little.
Idea of a way to creatively serve.
Someone else and so we'll be able to open that each day leading up to Christmas. We also talked about the number and reason behind getting gifts for our daughter this year. So we kind of narrowed in four.
And I'm sharing this with you not.
To cause comparison or say this is the right way by any means.
This is really coming out of a place of our family values. So. So your family values are probably different.
Than ours and so your holidays.
And what that looks like is gonna.
Be different and it's so beautiful.
But I just wanted to kind of peel back the curtain in our family.
And hopefully inspire you to do the same in yours. And so we decided to get our daughter about four gifts this year and being really intentional with each one of them. So for one gift, have it just.
Be fun, you know, like that thing that she'll love and it's just is fun.
The second gift, something educational.
So maybe that's a new book series, something to help her write her letters or read. She's sort of at that stage.
The third gift is practical.
So that might look like new snow boots this year. Like something she actually needs. Flannel sheets.
Right.
Because we live in Minnesota.
And then the fourth gift that we're.
Going to be intentional about getting her.
Is something that will help her spiritual growth.
So again, that could be the advent books, kid friendly advent books that we got together, but something to just encourage and help mature her faith that is obviously age appropriate.
So that was something that we came.
Up with that we felt really great about. And we also decided that we wanted.
To open up our home and be available for the holidays for those that.
Don'T have family close by.
So again, your family values may look totally different, but whether you're married or single, this was the best three hours.
My husband has and I have spent in a coffee shop in a very long time. So take that for what it's worth.
And before I introduce today's guest who will share more of her family's healthy holiday tips and traditions, the doors to the 2020 well Women Intensive are now open. So what would your life look like in the next six months if you got crystal clear about your best, what you're best at and what you're called to do in this season. What if you developed a strategic plan to walk out your personal goals and passions? And what if you had customized health accountability? For the first half of 2020, there's only a few spaces that remain for our local to Minnesota five month in person and online immersion group coaching experience.
Why the well women Intensive? Here's why.
Because I am meeting and I am sensing that there are so many women with a dream, an idea, a longing for something more in their life. But they're stuck. They're not sure how to figure it out and they're not sure how to take action. And I know full well, kids, jobs, responsibilities. It makes it challenging to figure out what we're called to do in this season. And not to mention create a strategic plan to actually begin to walk some.
Of this stuff out.
So that's why I've created a three part process of aligning, assessing and activating to guide small groups of women through to get crystal clear clarity in their calling in this season of life. Along with a personalized blueprint to take action and make the impact they've imagined starting in 2020 and beyond. I believe this will be a launch pad not only into this new year, but literally into this new decade. I also know that our physical health is a key component to success in.
Any area, which is why you'll get.
Access to online workout memberships as a part of the intensive nutrition guidance and support throughout the entire program. So if you're searching for personal mentorship, next level health, and personal clarity to step into all that God has for you in this next season, I want to invite you to apply for the well Woman Intensive today at Bit Ly well Intensive. That's Bit Ly well Intensive.

And I have followed Lindsay for several years now and I've always been inspired by her consistency and her values based business and her heart to see women truly well from the inside out. So ladies, I'm excited for her to share some healthy holiday tips with us that will help us not only feel our best this season, but so that we can bring our best into every circumstance. So Lindsay, welcome to the well Women Co podcast.
Thank you. Thank you so much for having me. I'm excited to be here.
You bet. And this is exciting because now you.
Are carrying your second child.
But when this airs, you're going to have another little baby girl. How do you feel about that?
I'm so excited. I'm excited to listen to this long snuggling babe. No, I'm just, I'm really excited. Yeah, we're excited to welcome another one to our crew and snuggle in for the winter season.
Great. Well, why don't you just give us a little snapshot of your background and what led you to creating nourishmovelove.com yeah.
I've always, I've always loved health and fitness. I've been an athlete my whole life. I played high school and then I went on to play college Volleyball, played a bunch of high school sports, but went on to play college volleyball. And I've just always loved, you know, that being a part of my lifestyle. And then when I graduated college, I went to the desk job, kind of the standard route and lost kind of that, that active part of my life and really missed it. And so I got into marathon running and then I got into strength training and did a couple fitness competitions and, and I really, really found my niche and my home really in the group fitness studio. I just fell in love with the group fitness studio. I always wanted to be taking classes and so I figured, well, what the heck, why don't I just get this on the side? While I was still, you know, doing the whole corporate America thing, I was doing sales actually and I was like, let's just, you know, I'll dabble in this. And I did some personal training on the side, started with my friends and got into it and the personal training wasn't as for me as group fitness. I just love the energy of being around a bunch of people and doing it. And I was just like, well, this is amazing and I would love to do this full time, but how do you make money being a group fitness instructor? You can only teach so many classes a day. And how would I make this like really a career? And so I decided to start setting aside my commissions. I was living off my base salary and I was, I was just going to take it to the online space. And so I really kind of dove into the online space about four years ago. I've been doing this for like four years. Yeah, it's crazy. It goes fast. Whenever I'm asked, they always, and I'm like, you know, I did start before I had kids, which was really crucial for me because I kind of dove in full force. And so I was working a ton on this and doing, I mean, saying yes to everything, doing all the odd jobs and everything. And now that I do have a two year old son and I've had kids, I've been fortunate enough to pull back a little bit and really just focus on the online space. But yeah, I have my blog. I film workout videos for a couple companies online and I feel really fortunate to say that I film work videos for a living. I mean, I think a lot of women would love to do that, but I also spend a ton of time behind a computer. I mean, anyone who's in the online space, you know, it's more than just like being on camera and filming. So yeah, it's a lot of content Creation. But it's really fun and it's all stuff I'm really interested in. And so I'm so excited to, to be able to call this really my career.
Yeah. Well, you're doing such a great job and everyone will have to check out your Instagram for sure. I always get hungry looking at your Instagram. And for those of you who haven't visited her website yet, just your resources, it's. It blows my mind how much content you put out and it's very in alignment with well Woman Co and our, our perspective of food and health and wellness. But yeah, literally I was just on your Instagram, like, I am getting hungry. I just had lunch, but now all of a sudden I'm hungry again. But it's good because then it's balanced out with all the workout videos. So you feel like, okay, I can enjoy both here. So we know that in the online space, so there's a lot of fitness blogs, but with Nourish Move Love, just share with us a little glimpse of the mission behind that and what you feel sets you apart in this space.
Yeah, you know, and it's kind of transitioned with me. Like I always say, my target audience is really me. And so when I started, I had kind of a younger audience and it was really those, you know, strength and hit and a lot of intense workouts. And then I got pregnant and slowly transitioned more to barre. And then I had a son in my audience. Really transition, transition to mom. And I think this is where I kind of really feel like I've fallen in love with my audience because after I had my son, I realized how much of a luxury it really is to go take a group fitness class and to be in a studio. One, if you live in a rural community, you maybe don't have access to one. Two, if you have kids, you stay at home. Whatever your schedule's like, if you're working mom, whatever it is, it's really hard to balance your schedule, your kids schedule, your work, all the things. And so my whole goal and mission really is to bring that boutique or that group fitness studio environment to your home so it's so accessible for anyone. And like, forget the rules about having to have a 60 minute workout class. Like you can really get such an effective workout in 20 minutes, 30 minutes. So just to make it a lot more accessible for women to just really help them create a lifestyle and a body that they love. I just think it just, I know it's a huge part of making me a better person. You know, just on all aspects. And then I also. What's kind of unique is I do bring in a little bit of my faith into this. It's just, it's kind of part of who I am. And so I started sharing some devotional content and things like that on my blog just for my own personal accountability. Honestly, that's why I did it and it's why I continue to do it because it's been such great accountability for myself and my own faith journey.
It's so good. And I think we have to talk about that.
I mean, it's.
It's a part where mind, body and spirit. And so I think that if our soul is well, if our spirit is well, then our body is going to be well. And so it's like this beautiful synergistic thing. And I feel like there's, you know, certain people who are afraid to talk about it, afraid to bring up our faith. But I think that there's a community of women and a lot of them listen to this who are hungry for the truth of the word of God and physical fitness and how they all play together. So I really appreciate and honor you, Lindsay, for bringing that component. Component into. Into what you do. And so that being said, I love how you touched on quick and effective workouts because I totally agree with you. And that leads us into holidays. Okay, Holidays. And you're going to have a newborn during the holidays. And you're probably not the only one that's listening who has little kids. And even if your kids. You're listening and your kids are out of the home. Holidays are typically a time where we have lots going on. So I would love to dive into having a healthy perspect in our mind, spirit and body during this time. And before we get into some of those practicals, I know I have some great tips for us. I want to talk about the Bomb Grin holidays. So do you have any family traditions that you've started or that you've carried on from your family just for fun?
I mean, we're. My husband is from Minnesota as well and so we're really fortunate. We're surrounded by our close family and we're super family oriented family. So it's really just getting together with our families. You know, we kind of avoid the whole having to rotate by picking different days. So, you know, Christmas turns into like a Christmas week, but it is really fun. So we get just mostly getting together with our families is the biggest tradition. And we've actually started trying to spend Christmas Day like actual Christmas Day, just our family because now we are our own family. And so we get up and we've started doing a thing where we, like, make pancakes and we, you know, do a couple gifts just as an immediate family. And it's just really fun to have those special moments with our son. And it's going to get more and more fun each year as he gets older and understands stuff.
Right, right.
I know.
I feel like we're in that space too, of our daughters, three and a half. And it's sort of like, oh, she can remember things now. And so it's fun to start to think about those things. So let's get into some healthy holiday tips. I thought, Lindsay, what do you think about this? If we break it down into nourish, move, love healthy holiday tips.
I love it. That's what I'm all about.
Let's do it. So let's jump into some tips. Tips around nourishment. So essentially, from your perspective, pulling out some golden nuggets for us, how can we nourish our body during the holiday season? How do you do this? How do you feel like other women could really benefit in nourishing their bodies during this season?
Yeah, I think, I mean, some of the most practical tips is making something right. We're going to a family gathering, typically potluck style. So you're showing up with a dish. So I always opt to bring a dish that I really would enjoy, and that's usually veggie loade. So whether I'm bringing a crock pot of roasted veggies, because it's nice to have something warm and still comforting, but something on the healthier side. So I always show up with a dish that I know I'm really gonna love, and so that's there and everyone has access to it. But I know there's something that I'll be able to fill my plate with that I'm really gonna enjoy. So that's like tip number one, show up to the holiday whether you're asked to or not. Bring something that you know that you would enjoy, whether it's a salad, a crock pot, or whatever it is. I think it's tip number one. And tip number two is hydration. It's something we, you know, it's easy to overlook. It's winter. It's not like scorching summer where you're sweating, but it's in it. So I'm always just carrying around my big 32 ounce water bottle with me filling it up.
Yeah, girl.
Just staying on top of that. You know, when you Travel to other people's houses because otherwise you're like stealing a glass and you're getting this little 6 ounce, but it's like, nope, I got my 32 ouncer with me. It's just going to stay in my purse and travel with me. So. So whether you're traveling or staying home, I think hydrating and bringing those good foods with are just easy ways. Super easy ways to stay on task. And of course it's all about balance and enjoying a little bit. But I typically, I'm a planner so I like to have my mind made up before I go somewhere. So I going in, I'm like, okay. I know that every year aunt so and so makes the best sugar cookies there are. So I'm skipping all the other things. I'm going right for her. I have my mind made up of. I'm gonna have love that.
It's so good because it's easy to just get mindless. Like you just turn off your brain sometimes in those familiar environments and you're like everyone else is eating and I don't know, it's weird. It's like you just lose all your self control. And so I think that's such a good tip of just like thinking about it before you get in the door. Like what is the thing that's really special? It's not just like okay, but it's something you can really enjoy. Maybe there's tradition. Like you said, it's your great aunt Alma's sugar cookies that it's like more than a dish, tastes good, it's like special, you know, brings special memory. So I love that. Do you put anything in your water? Talking about hydration, is there anything you like to put in there or just regular water?
Oh yeah. I mean especially. Well now I'm pregnant, so I mean I'm only drinking water, so. Well, I, you know, throw in an occasional spin drifter, Lacroix or whatever but so I'm all about adding flavor. You know it's funny because you bring that up because I'm like, do I in the winter, not nearly as much as I probably do in the summer because it's just easy. Fresh fruits and berries, you can throw them in. But yeah, you can always add a little bit, even like you know, a little ginger. In the winter I, I'm more tea based so I'd bring a throw tea bags in so I could sip on some hot tea after dinner or something like that. That's always nice to have on hand.

Okay, I have to ask before we move on to move healthy holiday tips. So is your family already pretty healthy or do you feel like you show up as the odd one out bringing all these healthy dishes?
You know, a little bit of both I'd say. Our families tend to be. They're definitely cognizant that you know, they know that we're on the healthier side. And I it goes both. Like I have some, like we have like a couple you brothers and sisters who are on the healthier side and then maybe some who aren't or you know, it's a little bit of both. But it's always funny because when I personally go home to my parents house, my dad's always like, oh, Lindsay's home. We gotta bust out that quinoa and healthy stuff versus. But it's funny because it kind of rubs off. Like, my mom naturally starts buying some of that stuff that she knows that I enjoy when we're home. So it is. I mean, they're so accommodating and so great. But of course, there's always those things. Like, mom's always gonna make those caramel rolls she made when we were little, which is fun too. And, you know, so.
Yeah, that's good. I just had to ask because I know that's a serious thing for some women is the stress of showing up to family or friends. And there's like, no concept of nourishing real food. It's all just laden with things that don't necessarily leave us feeling great. You know what I'm saying? Yeah.
Well, and I know, like, when I was training for fitness competition specifically, I mean, you have to be a lot more regimented about what you're eating. And it was. I mean, I was always packing my own meals and showing up. And it can feel really Icelandic because meals are social, right? It's a social gathering. So if someone, you know, if you show up and they have lasagna and they have all the things set out and you go and, like, pop your tilapia and asparagus, which I had to eat for fittest and probably have meat sets in the microwave and then come over and sit down, everyone's like, well, okay, you know, so it can feel isolating, but I mean, that's why it's. But it's also nice if you are a little bit more open with your family and can share your goals and everyone can.
Yeah, I can relate. It does rub off. And I'm always that person. My friends and family know. They're always, like, looking over my shoulder like, so, Brooke, what is. What are you mixing into your plate this. This time? You know, what is that little concoction? And so thankfully, I've learned that I don't take my eating style as gospel. Right. Like, people are free to eat whatever they want, but it does. It rubs off. And there's always fun conversation you can have around it. And whether people choose to step into that, you know, or make better choices themselves, it's. Yeah. You can look at it as an opportunity to share better health. Right. With those that we love most. So let's move to move. So let's talk about Some practical ways to move our body and feel fit during this crazy season.
Yes. And so like you said, it is, it is kind of a crazy season. Right? Like the holidays can be stressful and there's a lot going on. And so I always say like, it's so funny because it's so counterintuitive. Like we expect so much of our bodies. Like I need to stay up late wrapping the presents and then I need to make this dish and then I gotta be here. And then like we expect so much of ourselves, but then we're not giving ourselves like what we truly need. And so I know for me it is movement. Like I'm just, I'm a better person. Especially I like to get up early and get it done if I'm gonna go sit at a family gathering all day. Because it typically is a lot more sitting or sitting around table cards or doing whatever you do. It's not as active unless you're getting out and playing like, you know, some snow football or going sledding. And that's all awesome stuff too. But I just, I like to get up in the morning and get it done. And so I'm all about it just makes me feel good. It makes me make better food choices as well. And so. Yeah. And like I said, it doesn't have to be 60 minutes, especially over the holidays, like just a 15 minute hit. If you're traveling, your body weight is so effective. It doesn't have to be at a gym. It doesn't have to be. So it's always for me just still scheduling those in. And if you can, it's always fun. Like ask a family member to join you if you are traveling or whatever it is. So that. Or trying to get outside, take a quick winter walk after dinner, just adding a little bit of movement. You always feel better for it. So I would just say still scheduling, it's just, you know, it's just about making that conscious effort and getting up and getting it done before you let everything else rule your schedule and rule your day.
That's right. I know you have a lot of workouts on your website, so I just encourage again people to go to your Instagram nourishment of love or your website where they can find these workouts. But just give us one quick example. Like Lindsay, if you were at your in laws and there was no gym in sight and you had 15 minutes before your son woke up from a nap, like what would you do in those 15 minutes to get a little movement in?
Yes, I love just a Quick circuit. Like there's an app, it's called Tabata Pro Timer. You download this app, you set the work to rest ratio. So I always do 30 seconds of work, 10 seconds of rest. And I love taking a more strength or low impact move and pairing it with a more high impact move if you're capable. So for example, I do 30 seconds of squats, take my 10 second rest, 30 seconds of squat jumps, 10 second rest. Then I go 30 seconds of push ups, 10 second rest, 30 seconds of burpees, 10 second rest. So just taking those moves and just alternating a strength or a low impact move with a higher impact move to get your heart rate up. It's just such a quick and effective way to move. And I promise you, you will break a sweat in 15 minutes.
I agree with you.
But not enough that you have to wash your hair.
Yeah, perfect. Win, win. This is so good.
There's no excuse. Like ladies, there's no excuse.
I love what Rachel Hollis says.
Do you follow her?
Yes.
Yeah, I like her stuff.
Yes. I've heard her say several times, like, if you don't have an hour to yourself a day, like your hour to do something that is meaningful to you or productive for you, like you need to get a life. And that sounds kind of harsh, but.
I think it's true.
Like as women as moms like you, we have to, if we don't have 15 minutes to do something that is valuable, that is building our personal wellness, there's something out of order. And so I love that example of like, yeah, set your tab. How do you say that word?
Yeah, it's a Tabata pro timer app. I get asked all the time like whatever.
Okay.
It's such a good app. It's just you can set your work to rest ratio and you just get to work and it beeps at you and it tell. It's like my favorite for traveling.
Perfect. So I'm gonna link that if you're okay in the show. Absolutely.
Yeah.
And that's a really great tip. Quick little side note. So this is funny. You said you're sounds like you're a morning person. Yes. You like? Well, I am too. And we just got rid of our dog. We used to have a Vizsla six months ago, but it just wasn't working for a family. So we let her go to a wonderful loving home that is taking great care of her. But Vizlas, for those of you that don't know, are very high energy dogs. Do you have a dog, Lindsay?
We do not know.
Okay. I Wouldn't recommend it, at least for the new season. Yeah, well, we had one and they're very high energy dogs and you have to walk them. Otherwise they're like velcro and they're very, very needing. So my husband always jokes just like our little sweet Vizla Maya. He's like, Brooke, you need to get your steps in. Because he knows if I move earlier in the day in where we have time with family, like at holidays where there is. There's just a lot more sitting. I am so much more of a happier, content and intentional person. Like when I get all my moves out, just like you have to walk your dog. It's like I have to be walked or I have to get my movement in. And it does. It makes a difference. So I fully agree. And I would be that one that would wake up like that sister in law or something to you, Lindsay, that would wake up early with you and do these things just so you know.
Perfect.
Perfect. All right, the last of our healthy holiday tips. Let's talk about both love tips. So this is not so much having to do with our physical health, but I think it's really important that we talk about how can we love our body this season well. And those around us really well. And Lindsay, if you're open to sharing the story of the. Okay, Anthony, you can cut that out. I'm gonna start the sentences over again. Lindsay, if you feel comfortable sharing the experience you had with your mom in the recent past, that might really help listeners take being present with those that we love seriously this season. So would you be willing to share a little bit about that story with your mom?
Oh, yeah, for sure. And like, yeah, it. And it's something, it's funny because like, of all the things, like I'm, I'm a great eater, like, usually I've got that down pat. The whole movie in my body thing, it comes with my territory, like, and it's like, so this is always love is like the biggest thing I would say. Or just, you know, finding that, that the more wholeness and mental health, all that stuff is probably my biggest struggle personally. And so, yeah, two years ago, shortly after my son was born, he was two weeks old and my mom had come over to help with him because my husband was having his first day back at work and she took a half day at work and drove over and she was carrying a pack n play up our stairs. And my mom was totally healthy to our knowledge, and she went into cardiac arrest. And it turns out she has a genetic heart disorder. We ended up doing cpr. A long story short, she survived. Obviously there was a road to recovery and things, but that was, Yeah, I think it was a serious awakening for our whole family. Just, you know, life is and can be so short and the ones you love, you know, it's like I just, I, I was asked one and in an interview I did before, like, what would have happened if it would have went the other way. And I'm just like, I have, like, I can't even fathom, you know, like I can't fathom that she wouldn't have made it. And so it's just, it is so fortunate. Like, you know, we just go through life thinking like, mom and dad are gonna always be there and they're gonna be there for the grandkids and stuff. And so it was a really great lesson for slowing down, especially in that postpartum season, something I was struggling with. So, I mean, I think like I was saying, like, we expect so much of ourselves, especially over the holidays and it can be anything. And this is, I mean, I'm preaching to myself when I say this, but it's like taking away the stress and finding ways to do that. Maybe it means you don't send out a Christmas card this year. Like, that's okay. Everyone sees your family on social media. You know what I mean? Just find, I feel like, we feel like, especially as moms living in this day age, like there are so it's like you gotta raise your baby on cage for your organic and everything's gotta be home cooked and you gotta work and then you have to show perfectly on Instagram and then you gotta make a Pinterest birthday party. It's like there's so many, so many expectations and a lot of it is self imposed. Like it's, it really is. And so just taking that away and saying, you know what, maybe we don't do a Christmas card this year or you know what, like something is like we eliminate, like I. You give. Maybe, you know, we buy our son like a couple gifts, but it's like we're gonna sign up to do an experience. So maybe that's a family weekend at a hotel or something. It's just we're not gonna do all the shopping or you know, finding ways to just eliminate the stress. And then I know it's super cliche, but coming back to what the season is really about, and usually it's like Thanksgiving, Christmas, I mean, Thanksgiving is, is a lot more about what being thankful and all that we have and the abundance and how we can contribute that to others and being generous with our. Our time. And res. Christmas is, you know, it's about Jesus being born. And it's. It's just. It's means so much more than what we can turn it into. And that's. I mean, this is something I'm preaching to myself, too, because it's so easy to get wrapped up.
It is. That's a great point of choosing something not to do. I think all of us have long laundry lists of what we want to do during the holiday season. But really taking time and, you know, doing this with. With your spouse, you know, or your family or your friends, if you're single and thinking about what don't I want this season? Like, what are the things that I do just because I do them? And it's like something our family has always done, but it doesn't necessarily mean anything or I think here's the kicker. And, Lindsay, I'd love to hear your thoughts on this. Like, does this bring me peace? Like, that's a great. Right. Question to ask ourselves. Is, does this bring me peace? Is it bringing me life and joy? Or is it sucking life out of me?
So, yeah, I know. I totally agree. That's something. It's like when you stop and start asking yourself that you're like, I'm doing. There's so much. Like, your calendar. Your calendar is truly a reflection. Like, go into your Gmail calendar and look at it, and it's like, I struggle with this all the time. I say, these are my values. You know, I say it's faith and it's my family. And then I look at my calendar, and I'm like, there is not a direct reflection. Like, my values are not aligning with what is on my calendar. So it's, you know, a good reality check.
Right. And going back to, you know, your. Your family and your precious mom, which, thank the Lord, she's still. She's still with you and on the road to recovery. Do you remember what your holiday was after that experience? Do you specifically remember, like, having a celebration or something and being like, man, mom, I'm so glad you're here. Or just having a different. Was there a different tone in your family after that?
Yeah, I definitely think so. It's been interesting to see, like, you know, my dad take on a little bit of a softer side, especially with the grandkids and. Yeah, just. I think we all have a greater. My family's not one to be very outward with their emotions. There's not a lot of. I Love yous. There's not a lot of hugs, but those are things that I've definitely started to. We've embraced more. So it's like every time we do get together, there's hugs in the beginning, there's hugs at the end, there's a lot more I love yous. Those type of things that, that weren't as. As present before are definitely much more present.
Wow.
Yeah, that's powerful too.
Of taking a step back and thinking like how this is a question along with like you mentioned earlier, Lindsay, of planning out your meals per se, or planning out that treat that you're really going to enjoy and savor. I've started to and I want to be, be more mindful of this especially around the holiday season, like before I get to a room or a party or start those interactions to really center myself and really for personally invite the Lord into that moment and say, okay, who can I really see during this party or during this next two to five hours? Like who is it that I need to see that I can ask a great question to? Because personally there's a lot of times more often than not not that I'm used to walking into the situation. This is not just in holidays. This is can be throughout life where I walk in thinking about myself, how do I look, how am I being perceived, what am I going to eat? Or like when I was younger I was like, I want to be the first one to eat because you know, like I want to make sure I get my favorite cookies. You know, like we're always so self centered and the reality is that most others are. But if we can walk into a room or a holiday party or fast family gatherings with a perspective of like, how can I serve and who can I serve? That can really change our experience too. I think of the whole holiday season.
Absolutely. Yeah. I couldn't agree with that more. And it's even something I've been trying to practice in the car. Like, okay, I arrive somewhere like take a beat in the car and just let your soul catch up to your body. Because I feel like my body's always way ahead and it's like rushing into someone's door, dropping your diaper bag, throwing, you know, your casserole on the counter and it's like versus like, like entering with such a different presence and just being more present and less, you know, chaotic. It's difficult with kids especially.
Yeah. We're gonna have to do a second episode with you, Lindsay, so that we can dive into the business side because there's so many questions I want to ask you, like, how do you do this? Like, how are you putting out this content with excellence day in, day out? Like, I am just fascinated with how you're doing, what you're doing. But we'll have to have a part two of this conversation.
Oh, I would love that. That stuff fires me up. I love the business side.
I know. I know you do. So in, in wrapping up, I'm just going to go through these healthy holiday tips and we'll make sure to put these in the show notes. But we talked about nourishing. So I love how you said, bring something you like. Veggie, loaded. I like how you threw in there. Have it. Be warm and comforting. You know, there's a million things on Pinterest and I know you have Pinterest boards as well where people can go and find really great recipes. That's a great tip. The second one in. Move. There's no excuse, ladies. 15 minutes. Like 10 minutes. Minutes. Lindsay shared the great app that I'll link in the show notes so that you can get a quick workout in no matter where you are. And then the love tips of walking into the room asking, who can I serve and how can I serve? And I think the last thing that you shared is, what don't you want to do this year? Like, I just encourage those that are listening, think about what don't you want to do? And actually write it down so you can hold yourself accountable and really create great experience and memories that are meaningful, that bring you life and peace throughout this holiday season. So, Lindsay, and wrapping up, is there a number one takeaway from our conversation today that you would love the listeners to take with them?
Yeah, I think, like, I think, yeah, we just, as moms, as women, like, we put so much on ourselves this time of year to do it all. And I think it's just like, like ask for help and, and make sure you're taken care of too. Like, hey, if I get up 15 minutes early, could you grab the kids out of bed this morning so I can get a quick workout in before I have to put that casserole in the oven? Of course your husband's gonna be like, yeah, it's just asking for help before you actually need it. Because if you're starting your 15 minute workout and then the kids wake up and you're interrupted, then you get mad and then. You know what I mean? Asking for help before you need it, that's so good.
Grace to everyone listening, that's a takeaway. That's such a good point, Lindsay. Thank you you for spending some time with us. I know you have a million things going on and you're adding a whole another life to your family very soon. So we just appreciate your tips and your nuggets of wisdom you shared with us today.
