Three mistakes that sabotage muscle growth: switching programs every week instead of sticking with core lifts for 12 weeks, using the same weight instead of progressively increasing it, and neglecting sleep, calories, and stress management outside the gym.

Here are 3 mistakes I used to make when trying to build muscle. First one is program hopping. A great philosopher once told me we had to confuse the muscle to make it grow. This led me to change up my workouts every week, be it changing my rep ranges or exercise selection. Problem here is if you change things up every week, how can you even know if you're improving or not? I recommend sticking to the same core exercises for at least 12 weeks and getting really good at them. Next, I used to go into the gym and lift the same weights and just go through the motions. I would never really push myself to lift heavier or increase volume. In order to stimulate muscle growth, you need to challenge yourself with progressively heavier weights. If you go into the gym every week and do the same weight, you're going to get the same results or lack off. Lastly, what I was doing outside the gym was counterproductive to what I was doing inside the gym: an inconsistent calorie intake, not getting enough sleep, and not managing my stress. Getting a physique you're proud of takes some commitment in all areas of life, but it's always worth it in the end. Also, if you're not following me here, that may be a problem too.
