Attempting To Surf | Exploring Bali's Jungle

In this vlog, Rob Lipsett and his friend Ben travel to a remote Bali beach on a rainy day, improvising a waterproof camera bag to film their surf attempt despite poor conditions. After a brief, wave‑less surf session, they explore the surrounding jungle, encountering a Balinese rooster and a python, and later stop for frozen yogurt with a friendly taxi driver. The day ends with a traditional Balinese massage and a reflective editing session where Rob discusses how travel videos are growing his audience, attracting hotel collaborations, and moving him closer to his goal of complete travel freedom. The video blends humor, spontaneous adventure, cultural observations, and personal ambition.

Oh no, it's good, it's good. Yeah, we're going. All right guys, so today it is lashing rain and we're like, okay, screw it, let's just do something crazy. Let's go surfing or let's go to the beach. But then I was like to Ben, I was like, you have those waterproof attachments that people use, you know, how much are they? And Ben's like, yeah, I'm back, like 500 to 1,000. I'm like, nah man, they're free, they're everywhere, just get a bit of bin liner. Do you see that? That's our attachment for today. It's literally a bag covering. It's like, it's literally a camera in a plastic bag. This is gonna work a treat, right? Let's go. Okay, so as you can see, weather couldn't be worse, but I believe it was Greg Plitt who said, life is not about waiting for the storm to pass, it's about learning how to dance in the rain. So that's exactly what we're gonna do. Europe? Oh, far away. Yeah, yeah, it took us like 25 hours to get here. Very cold country. Ireland is very cold. Yeah. Hello. Hi. All right, so here we go. Hello. So yeah, just two, two people. Yeah, cool. Whoa, here's your temple. Whoa. Whenever I see, whenever I see like a rail like this, I just think of Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 2. This is what I think of. Oh my God, look at this! It's like a secret passage. You know what, I'm like an eternal optimist, and I just think the rain this day, the stormy weather, makes it more epic. I'm a glass half full kind of guy. You should get some pictures here. Yo, 100%, 100%. Just because the other way you can choose colors. Oh my God, what? This— oh my God, that is intense. Well, no surfing for us. Hey, no, don't say that yet. Hold on, you can definitely go a bit further down. So, huh? Oh no, it's okay. Uh, how do you get to the beach? Yeah, okay, it must be the tide's in. I'd say that is the beach. Oh, all right. I don't know, my friend is surfing over. She's learning how to surf there. Okay. And I took her there, so I think you have to go through the rocks. Okay, and your friend's not dead or drowning or anything? I hope she's not. Okay, that's good enough for me. Let's just have a look. Yeah. Is this the beach they said they were coming to? Oh no, look, how do you know? Look, look, that's it. Oh no. No! Oh my God, no way! Okay, let's get out of here! Okay, not good. Whoa, look at there, like, just so high. Look at this place. Okay, trying a different approach. Got my shoes wet for nothing. That's all we got. And the other way, wet shoes. Perfect, we have sand. So this is perfect. Here we have our beautiful 5-star beach shack. Very nice. Okay, time for a lovely refreshing dip. Oh wow, beautiful. Alright, so we attempted surfing. We didn't really catch much waves and these board. Uh, but I'm not gonna blame the board, all right? We're just— it was our first time, so we weren't too great. But we still had like a really nice swim, a really nice day. And like, I think this goes to show, just don't judge a book by its cover. Even if it's a bad day, you can still have a lot of fun. And the weather, the warmth, it's still good. All right, so we are deep in the jungle, and here we have the rare Balinese rooster in its natural habitat. Look at the gracefulness and the essence of this animal. National Geographic, you know, if you ever want someone to like, you know, fly around and, you know, present animals, just hit me up, give me the call. Okay, all jokes aside with the rooster, there is a full-on python in there and we've been told it is poisonous as well. So okay, I'm gonna keep my distance, right? I don't know if it will wave, Oh my God, whoa! All right, so it was good, it was productive. I'm feeling refreshed, and our taxi man waited for us. What a gent. So we're going to hit the road, and I'm hungry as well. Yeah, you hungry? Absolutely starving. Hey mate, uh, can we stop for some frozen yogurt? Frozen yogurt? Yeah, okay, it's just on the way. Yes, yes. Do you want some? Uh, no, I'm already full. Oh really? Okay, if you change your mind, it's on me. During your swimming, I got lunch. Oh nice, okay, cool. And you're sure you don't want one? I can, I can do have parking. Okay, perfect. Yes, yes, I'm sure. Thank you very much. Okay, because I'll get it for you, baby. All right, secret spot, frozen Fro-yogurt, that's what it's called. Going in there. That's you. Hey, can we get some fro-yogurt? Yes, we have plain and chocolate bean from the bottom. Plain on top. Oh, that's healthy ingredients. Look at that piece of art! Next time you get one with us. All right, so we went all out. We got some pineapples, strawberries, coconut shavings, seeds, chocolate chips, and a mix of vanilla chocolate. So this is gonna be perfect for our nice little drive. Cheers, brother! Thank you. Cheers, guys! What do you think of him? What a nice man. So nice. Yeah, legend. I love when you get a good taxi driver. Yeah. All right, so we're back from surfing. I got my comfies on, and that can only mean one thing— it's spa time, massage time in particular. We're getting like a Balinese, Balinese massage, and we're getting it for like 90 minutes. Alright guys, so we are wrapping up the day. Me and Ben are just having some guy time here. We're actually editing and he's teaching me a little bit about editing in general and color grading. See, we can all learn from each other. Okay, but this is the last night before our trip. We're going home in the morning, so I just want to quickly talk about it. And basically, we had an awesome trip, but now I'm just even— we, we are just even more pumped for the future. Like, doing those videos has helped us reach a completely new audience. You know, we've got hotels in Greece and more in Bali and Thailand reaching out to us saying, hey, do you want to travel? Come do something from here. So we're getting one step closer to complete freedom that I'm chasing, to basically be able to go wherever I want and do whatever I want every single day, as that is of course pretty much a goal of mine. But we're gonna head to the airport in the morning. I hope you enjoy these Bali vlogs. I'm pumped. I'm actually looking forward to getting back to Dublin. And just killing it. Thank you so much for watching. Keep it real. I'll see you in the next one. Peace.
