Bodybuilder Tries Golf For The FIRST Time

In this 2021 vlog, fitness influencer Rob Lipsett documents his first attempt at golf at Marbella Club Golf Course, guided by Irish pro Phil Tannum and accompanied by his partner Linda. Rob introduces his stylish golf outfit, learns basic fundamentals (grip, stance, hip rotation, swing mechanics) and records his early attempts, noting improvements, club speed (72 mph), distance (≈117 m) and the feel of the swing. He shares personal motivation for learning golf—networking and business meetings—while humorously commenting on his beginner status. After the golf session, Rob transitions to a pull‑day workout, showcasing a variety of rowing‑type exercises and promoting his upcoming Gameplan fitness app, emphasizing progressive overload, weight tracking, and volume monitoring. He provides a lockdown update for Marbella, discusses the importance of routine, patience in app launch delays, and expresses optimism for the fitness industry in the second half of 2021. The vlog ends with drone footage of Marbella, a sunset dinner, and a thank‑you to viewers, blending lifestyle, fitness education, and personal branding.

What's going on, people? Welcome to today's vlog. This one is going to be called Bodybuilder Tries Golf for the First Time. I know I'm not like the biggest bodybuilder ever, maybe even a bodybuilder, but it sounds better than guy who goes to the gym often tries golf. So just go with me here, okay? Please like the video for the algorithm. As you can see, I am kitted out, and I'm not gonna lie, I love this outfit. I feel amazing. Very Wolf of Wall Street on the yacht vibes. But we're taking us to the golf course. Since moving out to Marbella, I've always wanted to try golf. The weather is just absolutely insane, and my dad always wanted me to play golf. And when I was younger, he'd always say, when you're older, trust me, you need to learn how to play golf for business meetings, social events, all that. And I was like, no way, never. There was actually even a golf course connected to the school I went to, and I still never learned. And now I actually think it's a really cool sport, and I really want to get good at it. So first time trying it today, complete beginner, so should be pretty funny. Linda is also gonna come with me as well. She's getting ready, so I wonder how she's gonna be too, because it's her first time as well. But anyways, we're gonna head off now. It is about 1 PM, so yeah, I'm really excited. The golf course is Marbella Club, and the instructor is Phil Tannum, who's actually an Irish pro also living out here. So the Irish sticking together, and yeah, I'm really excited for it. So let's get into the vlog. This is my golfing fit. Nice, love it. The Nike shorts, Dior shoes. Where's the top from? The top is from Zara. Very nice. I think Linda, by the time this video is up, she'll have put a try-on haul on her YouTube channel, so I'll link that down below. But look at us, we're living that clean life now. I even have a little cap to match the polo as well. It's all right, Uber's here, let's head off. Marbella Golf Country Club, let's go! All right, people, so you're about to witness my first ever swing at a golf ball. So right there, we just went over some basics, um, pretty much the grip and the swing. And there's a lot to take in. It's really informative and really kind of enjoyable to learn about as well. All right, we're about to put it into practice here. Oh, great. We're gonna go for interlock grip and nicely turned in, not grabbing with the left palm. Okay, right, with the fingers. Okay, square it up as well. Don't have it closed, don't have it open. Yes, yeah, in the middle. And keep that triangle as well.
And what about the hips, Rob?
So what is it? So what is this?
What we talked about, huh?
Don't even look at the green.
Make contact with the ball. There's no goalie out there to block it.
Remember, it's all in here. Hey, hey, It's all in—
come on, work with me now.
It's all in the head. Yeah, it's all in the head.
Okay.
Right, come back to the end of the video, we'll be doing it way better.
Okay, take 2, right?
Let's see if we can get this piece over the side. Yes, sir! Brilliant!
So good!
Okay, nice, nice. Slide it. So how far back can we go on the slide?
Yes, we're going, actually, just to there.
That's fine.
Perfect. Right, good. And then we're going to go through together. You're going to move the weight onto your left leg, hold that position for a little bit, hold the loop. There's your finish position. Okay, so you see your weight's on your left leg. Yeah, in that nice tall position to finish. And you can even see that triangle sort of stays. Yeah, even into the finish.
It even feels like less awkward. Yeah, it feels better. Oh my God! Oh my God! What?
Yes!
That was the most satisfying feeling ever! It nearly went in the goddamn hole! I know! Oh, hold on, can we zoom in and show you? Can we show how close that was?
That's like 2 feet away!
Oh my God, third time lucky! I'm so happy with that! That was awesome!
Wasn't it? That was only your third attempt!
Third swing ever!
Nice!
Alright, Linda, you're up first! Ever swing. Nice! That's going to love this. Okay, not bad. There you go. Oh my— oh my God, we turn time, Loki! Oh my God! Well done, well done! So this cue is get my belt buckle up here, not actually hit up here but towards that direction. So that's what we're going to try to do with this swing. Oh my God, brilliant! Nice! Wow, fair play, Linda!
Excellent!
Right, here we go.
We're gonna go 7 iron now.
Right, I'm in big boy range now.
So we're doing same, same concept as the chip, and we're gonna have slightly wider stance.
Yes, brilliant!
Oh my God, so we're around at 117 meters total there.
Oh my God.
Club speed was 72 miles an hour.
Yes!
Yes!
Where'd you go?
Right, and the club face was 2 degrees, so you can see how straight that ball's gone.
I can't believe this. Awesome. I need, I need one more. Do practice first. Yep, little practice swing, it's all right. Yeah, little bit close. Yeah, bit closer, I'd say. Linda, take a step closer.
So one of the things, like, if we look a little bit at the grip, especially the left hand— how do we get that on? We'd like to— you just have a tendency to get a little bit too much in that palm again.
Oh yeah, yeah.
Making sure it's a little bit more through the fingers, but the rest of the posture is really nice.
I mean, yeah.
Hinging nicely from the hips, good knee bend. All of that's really, really nice from down the line. And we'll take you up to the top here. Okay, so this is an area where we're going to be able to make some really, really big improvements here. Yeah, because I'm gonna drag up. Do you have any favorite golfers?
Maybe, uh, definitely, yeah. Oh yeah, it's so clean. Do you see the way he stays? So he stays basically in his posture and he's Yeah, it's like a robot. It's like a robotic movement. It's crazy.
Yeah, I mean, but the key is you're turning your shoulders within your posture.
Yeah.
So really quickly, before we go on here, this is going to use the mirror here. And then as you make your backswing, you're going to feel like you're going to point the grip end here down to the ground. Yeah. Okay, so what you're doing is in the backswing, we're leveling off the shoulders a bit too much. So we're essentially moving further away from the ball.
Yeah.
So then when we come back down, it's, it's easy to sort of maybe hit the top of it. So we need to get this left shoulder working down, and you can sort of check in the mirror then. You get your shoulders turning on this sort of incline plane rather than— yeah.
Oh buddy, oh my God, that's our goals, man. That's, that's—
yeah, that's the goal.
All right, so we're gonna finish off with the full sand, the driver.
Which we shouldn't really be doing.
Which we shouldn't be doing. We shouldn't be doing. It's the most difficult part. But I'm going to do it anyways. Golf is fun. It's wild sport. Anything can happen. So again, this is just something I want to give a shot to, but it's something that I'm going to properly work towards over the next couple of weeks. So give me a break right here, okay? Don't expect too much. We'll see.
Yes, Rob! Awesome!
Right, that was one of the most enjoyable things we ever did. That was actually such a laugh. And now look what we're getting afterwards. We're really living. Look at that. I'm like, look at this in front of— look at that. Like, seriously, this is what it's like to be a classy person. We're living our best classy European life. So we're gonna enjoy a drink now and head back to the port. All right, people, so we are back at home. Look at this sunset, right? We just had a little bit of dinner out there. So beautiful. So very enjoyable day today. What are you waving at? Very enjoyable day today. Uh, Phil's a legend. We had such a laugh. Linda was surprisingly good. I didn't think you'd connect the ball. Like, I honestly, I was like, this is gonna be awkward when Linda can't hit it once. It's actually almost better than me. And yeah, you're decent. But yeah, we had a great day today, and I hope you enjoyed seeing me and my terrible golf techniques. It's almost as bad as my sprinting technique. So we're gonna get an early night, gonna watch our show The Blacklist. Hope you enjoyed, and I'll see you guys tomorrow. All right guys, welcome to today's workout. It is going to be a pull day, and not only just a pull day, it's going to be a pull day from the Gameplan app. Only I have access to it right now, but soon it will be available on every app store. I'm very excited. So look, you click here, you have how much hours you've done, the workouts, percentage completed. So let's go into, for example, pull day. We'll click that when we get going. You have all the workout there in front of you, and you can track obviously the weight and the amount of volume you do as well. And what do we always say on this channel, right? What have I been saying for many, many years? How do you build muscle? It's progressive overload. If you're not tracking your weights, you kind of don't know if you're progressing or not, and you're just going in aimlessly. If you go into the gym and you bench press 60 kg, 3 sets of 8 forever, your body's got no reason to change. So you need to do 3 sets of 10, you do 70 kg, you need to do 4 sets of 8. Some sort of stimulus needs to be increasing. So with the new app, with the Gameplan app, you can track that and you can make sure that you're getting that progressive overload over time. Today's going to be a pull day. On the menu, we got some T-bar rows. We got some iso rows, bent over barbell rows, hammer curls, shrugs, single arm rows, bright rows, a lot of rows. Okay, so let's get stuck into it. I'm absolutely pumped up. I'm feeling ready to go. Got that All Alpha on as well. The Yeezys too. You gotta, you gotta dress well for the gym, man. You know, you got, you got to show respect. You know, I just had a shave before the gym. That's how I do it. You gotta respect these weights. So anyways, I'm buzzing and I can't wait. So let's get stuck into it. Okay, let's see if I can do this.
Oh, fucking—
Let's pump these guns, baby! Good. Epic pull session done. I'm feeling great. Training is just so good at the minute. A little bit of an update on lockdown in Marbella is basically everything is open until 6 PM, so that's including bars and restaurants and clubs and all that, which is kind of good because it's keeping me on the straight and narrow. It's keeping me very focused. It's actually improved my sleeping pattern because now come 6 PM I just wind down, I get a little bit of work done, I relax, and then I'm in bed as early as possible. And that's been making a huge difference on my training. Everything is in a great routine right now, and I'm so happy when my routine is on point. So that pull workout was high volume. My form was super strict on everything because of course I'm filming for the app, filming for YouTube and everything, so I just want to make sure Everything is dialed in and perfect, so I'm really happy with that. Training with the heat, as you can see, like, I'm not, I'm not a sweaty person. I'm looking like a donut, like a glistening donut after that. But so it was an amazing session, great pump, lots of pull exercises, um, hit the shrugs as well for traps, biceps pumped too. And one thing that me and John were talking about in the gym there as well is having patience. I thought this app was going to be live in January. I thought this was going to be one of the biggest Januarys of my whole kind of fitness business. I thought gyms would open back up again and everyone would be back in the gym and everyone would be downloading new apps and plans and everything. And so far in 2021, gyms have not been open in Ireland and UK for a single day. And so this is when patience really comes into play. Like, so many times life is just going to throw something your way and there's nothing you can do about it a lot of time. So be patient, wait it out, and when the time is right, that's when you have everything in place to strike. So I'm very happy that I've been productive in the last couple of months. I'm so delighted that I made the move here so I could keep working on things, and I'm excited for the second half of 2021. I actually have a really positive feeling about the second half of 2021. It's going to be like, like a boom in the economy in a sense. Especially in the fitness industry. So that's my random thoughts post-workout. I'm hungry, I need to do a grocery shop. It's a beautiful day as well, so we're gonna fly the drone. So get ready for some sick Marbella footage from up in the sky. 3, 2, 1. All right guys, so gonna finish up the vlog here, enjoy the sunshine a little bit. So thank you so much for watching. I hope you enjoyed my terrible golfing skills and a good old lifting session, which I'm not as bad as golfing. I'd like to think I'm a little better at lifting than I am at golf. But, um, thank you so much for clicking on the video, watching. I really appreciate it. Basically out here I'm kind of like, I do the exact same thing every single day, just lift and eat, which I love doing, but sometimes, you know, I feel like you guys don't want to see that. Um, so I really appreciate you watching anyways and hope the golf was a nice little change-up. So anyways, right, big things coming later in the year. Hang in there, everybody. Keep it real, and thanks again. So, alright, I'm outta here. Peace. Catch you later.
