Do I Do Deadlifts ?

Rob Lipsett gets a functional movement screen at Sports Physio Ireland, then shows his leg day routine. He does straight-leg deadlifts at about 100 kg for 4 sets after squats to target weak hamstrings, and handles the usual Monday errands between sessions.

What is up everyone, right? So Monday morning, best way to start off your week is with a massage, and that's what I'm doing today, right? So the folks at sportsphysioireland.com got on to me, they said, yo Rob, we've been following back on Shred, you're training hard, you're shredding up, you're getting cut, why don't you come in for a massage? But more specifically, up before the alarm, I'm ahead of the game, man, I'm ahead of the game. But anyways, right, so they were like, um, come in for a massage, you know, a sports massage, tell us what areas you want to— that are tight you want to concentrate on. So I said, you know, hamstrings, traps, and stuff like that. So I am going to go into them now this morning, a few things to do beforehand, and then I'll take you throughout my day. So anyways, right, let's go. So here we are, 29 Upper Fitzwilliam Street. Time to go in and get work done. Alright, what's up everyone? So we're in sportsphysioireland.com. Yeah, and there is the treatment bed. But I'm with Brian Casey as well. He's very qualified, he's got a lot of letters after his name, so I know he's doing well. But why don't you just tell everyone what we're doing today?
So what we're doing today is I'm just— I invited Rob Lipsett here today just to show him the place. We're kind of exploring expanding the physio end of our company here. So, um, basically we're doing a bit of sports massage and dry needling, uh, and just a little bit of a functional screen with Rob. So looking at his squat, his deadlift, his push-up, things like this. So just making sure that he is completely injury-free, um, in the build-up to, uh, what, during his training and stuff like that.
So yeah, we're, uh, we're going well. Nice one. So you got to be a well-oiled machine, but, uh, we're gonna get underway. I'll catch you later. Wow, I feel like a new man after that. Rian really went hard on me, especially the legs as well. That's something I need to do more often. But anyone who wants to find a good physio, good sports massage, drop into them and just mention my name, Rob Lipsett. But yeah, so anyways, now I just realized no food in the house, so I'm gonna pick up a burrito, obviously. I'm gonna try a little ass burrito bar today. And I don't go there too often. I've gone there before, kind of forget what they're like, but you know, I'll give it my rating anyways. But all right, let's go. Yeah, yeah, pretty good weight on it. And, uh, so I'm gonna eat this anyways, and I'm also gonna watch a bit of Narcos. It's like the best show I've watched since like Breaking Bad. It is amazing. But all right, I'll give you a rating after this. Dos. Um, it was good, but you can't Or like, it's not like a conveyor belt where you order, so you can't be like, yeah, you know, keep going with that chicken there. So, you know, I'm not too sure about it, but yeah, no, it was good. Alright, now anyways, it is off to get my hair cut. Whenever my hair isn't like, pew, on the sides, y'all, I'm just not feeling it. So we're going to L'Oréal today. Yeah, summer in Ireland, folks. Beautiful. L'Oréal's too busy, so I just went to the locals in Rathmines, Admiral Browns. Always does a good job. Just go in and ask for the Rob Lipsett special. So anyways, went to Dundrum and I had to pick up a few things. I had to pick up a printer because my old one broke, and when I'm like mailing out, like for the last week, I just mean I just haven't got time to go around to getting one. So today I made it a priority. Like for the last week I've been writing addresses on the orders, which is just so unprofessional, and I'm not about that, especially because I have terrible handwriting. Comment down below if you received some LF gear off me and you received it with my 9-year-old handwriting. I'm sorry. So anyways, right, I got labels, a printer, and I'll show you, I'll show you what else now. Okay, so there is the printer. It's actually Bluetooth, so it hooks up, or Wi-Fi, so it hooks up to my Mac. And then here are the little kind of labeling printer, printer labels, whatever. So thank God. Got that all sorted. And then I just got 2 workout shorts from Pull&Bear. They're just like cotton ones, just dark grey and red. Okay, so that's all that sorted. I'm going to print off labels here and I'm going to mail stuff out. I'm going to package everything up, get it ready to go, and then I'm going to go hit legs and abs in the gym. But I already— the last piece of gym footage I recorded was legs as well, so instead of just showing you the exact same thing, I'm just going to play this now because today I'm doing the exact same thing in the gym. I'm starting off with squats, then going into deadlifts, and then just doing the isolation work and so on. But anyways, right, people always ask me as well, do I do deadlifts? And the answer is yes, I do straight-legged deadlifts after I do squats on every single leg day. So the reason I do straight-leg deadlifts is I just want more hamstring activation because my hamstrings are just my worst body part pretty much, and I badly need to bring them up. And I find straight leg deadlifts, I just get a great contraction on the hams and glutes, and I notice it has been improving them since I added them in. So I go light enough on these, I just do 100 kg for my working sets, I do about 4 sets, and again I go slow on these and I just get a really good stretch and contraction on these. So to answer your question, yes, I do deadlifts, I do straight leg deadlifts. After a squat, every damn time. So anyways, gonna leave you with some raw footage. Enjoy. Of course that printer doesn't work. I'm at a wit's end here. If anyone knows anything about printers, just comment down below. Even if you know where to get a good label printer that will work with a Mac, something. Anyways, I'm gonna go off and watch Straight Outta Compton with my friends. I'll let you know how it is in the comment section. This is me signing out. Hope you enjoyed today's vlog even though it wasn't great. I will talk to you soon, and of course, keep it real.
