What's going on everyone? So welcome to today's vlog. I'm down in the underground car park of my new apartment. So we are just moving in and we are going on our first trip to IKEA. This is good times, but a trip to IKEA is always memorable. It's so big. I love getting all the new stuff and, you know, kind of kitting out your apartment. So I'll try to show you a little bit of it later, but Sarah kind of wants to wait until it's all done. You know what chicks are like. But anyways, right, let's get this vlog going.
So Rob, how are you feeling about the move?
Um, to be completely honest, uh, pretty high levels of anxiety. Um, mainly because like obviously moving is stressful and stuff, but my whole business, YouTube included, kind of depends on on being connected to the internet, having Wi-Fi. So like, we just called UPC there, we're not gonna have Wi-Fi sorted until Thursday. Today's Tuesday, so I had like a freak out. I was like, oh my God, there's clients expecting replies and stuff like that. And you know, a lot of people are like, oh Rob, he always like plays it cool, you know, he's always chilled and stuff like that. And like, to be completely honest, I get like bouts of stress and anxiety quite often. And you know, just being real with you. So yeah, that's kind of I'm feeling about it right now, but like, I am also so happy with the new place. Like, it's amazing. I just kind of want to settle in and, you know, get everything sorted. That's why I'm also glad we're going up to IKEA now, get all the furniture, kit it out, and just like settle in. I've set up my office as well. Like, when I'm outside of my office, I go crazy.
So what would you say is your favorite part of the new apartment?
Let me think. Um, could be— I was gonna say like the living room, obviously, because it's so spacious and stuff. But now I'm kind of thinking like the balcony, because I've never had a balcony before and we're on the top floor, so like the view is so good. Obviously it's freezing right now, but in the summer months, I cannot— like, this is what I'm picturing— I cannot wait to wake up in the morning, have myself a nice coffee, and stand on my balcony, you know, king of the— king of the castle. Uh, but that said, when my office is built, when my spare room's converted into an office, I have a feeling that place is going to be my zone. I'm gonna absolutely love it. I'm gonna make it just an extremely cool office.
And now that like we've got a gym in our apartment, I know it's not got everything, but do you think you'll use it often?
Yes, for once in my life I'll be able to do 2-day training sessions without it taking up any time. So yeah, no, don't worry, see, turn off. So yeah, I'm I'm gonna be able to do 2-day training sessions. So I'm gonna wake up in the morning, I'm gonna try and get cardio done pretty much every day. So that is going to be— it's going to make my cut so much easier. Wake up in the morning, lâcher 500 calories of cardio, and it's gonna make things so much easier. And then obviously hit Raw later on today. So I have a feeling this could be my best year of training, you know, just because of that.
And obviously you're not going to give an honest answer because I'm here, but how do you feel for people who might be watching who are like moving in with their boyfriend or girlfriend? Like, would you have any advice, or like, how do you feel about it?
Moving in with you, it's not— I don't feel like it's a big step because we spend so much time together. So I'm kind of just like, you know, it's, it's not a big deal. So if you're about to move in with someone, make sure that like you know what to expect. Like, we have so much sleepovers and everything like that. I'm going after— we've so much sleepovers and everything like that, it's just, it's It's not really a big deal. It doesn't seem like— like, obviously it's so exciting, but it doesn't seem like that big.
We've also like been together now for nearly 5 years.
5 years. And we've been on lots of, uh, holidays together, like for weeks at a time.
So like just know the person inside out, basically.
Pretty much. And like little things, like make sure if you're a clean person, make sure they're also clean. We actually have a good combo. I'm like really tidy and she's really hygienic, so that makes things, uh, so like I'll be doing like the scrubbing and I'll be putting things where they're meant to go. So we're going to run a tight ship. Are we here now? It says 5 minutes.
Now if only the weather in Ireland would just get better.
I always say it, if Ireland had the same weather as like Spain or California, it would be the best country in the world. Definitely. Yeah, but unfortunately, because we have the craic, but we just don't have the weather to go with it. Here we go, let's do this. Gains! Most of basic stuff, just pretty boring shit. Hangers, pillows, all stuff we need. The main reason why it's fun to go to IKEA is when you have all these rows yourself and you can play like hide and go seek with them. Act like a 10-year-old again. How cool would a game of paintball be? In this place. That's just the way I think. What's up? 17th of February, 2016, Wednesday. What time to be alive. So right, I am about to go into Lidl to do a big grocery shop. It's not even a big grocery shop because, you know, um, this is the first shop of the new place, but it's also the first shop of my cut. And I believe, you know, whether it's a gaining phase you're beginning or a cutting phase, at the start of your plan, I think it's great to do a big grocery shop. Gets you in the right mindset, and it puts where you live just in the right atmosphere to coincide with your plan. So I'm gonna go in there now, and I might film a little bit in there, but I'm only gonna pick everything up and and then, you know, go back to my apartment, go through what we got, and, you know, talk about some certain things, try to make it as educational and fun as possible. So, alright, let's get cracking. I'm pumped. Let's go. Food time. Shopping. 30 of them bitches. Let's go. I don't know why, but I find it so relaxing just doing the grocery shopping. Calms me down. Therapeutic. I was gonna get some of this, but it literally looks like this dude is jacking off into the bowl. Eh, okay, I'm gonna put these on the ground and we're just gonna go through them in no particular order, just as I unpack. Alright, so before we begin and I go through what I got, personally with diet when cutting, your goal should be to Obviously maintain and sustain a caloric deficit, hit your macronutrients—protein, carbs, fat—hit your micronutrients—vitamins, minerals, fiber—all whilst making it as enjoyable as possible. So, you know, you'll see a lot of your typical food, a lot of vegetables, a ton of vegetables actually, but you also see some kind of like tasty things that will keep me on track and, you know, keep my diet enjoyable and help me sustain it. So, alright, let's crack on. So first thing I see here is popcorn. It is like 100 calories per bag, takes ages to eat, and it's actually got more fiber than a sweet potato. Next, veggies, mushrooms, peppers to bulk up a meal. Uh, these Sandwich Slims. Now this is, this is, this is a good way to think about things, right? A bagel is 240 calories, one of these is 100 calories, and essentially it tastes the same. It's giving you the same type of meal. So sometimes Just swapping similar things out of your diet and into your diet will make all the difference. Strawberries. Salad bowls. Anyone who has been, you know, subscribed to this channel for a while will know I'm so into these. Just put a handful of this mixed salad with every meal. It'll just bulk a meal up, and obviously, um, it's a great source of micronutrients too. Blueberries. Tuna, tuna, good source of protein, but do not get tuna chunks in sunflower oil. It's gonna screw up your macros. Get tuna steak in spring water. Seasoning: chopped garlic and ground cinnamon. Gonna put that on my oats. Some quick and easy microwaveable long grain rice. Tomatoes. Sparkling water. I don't know what it is, but it is like an appetite suppressant. When I have one of these, I just feel so much more full after. Cottage cheese, uh, light. Again, so good. Kind of tastes like mayonnaise. Pure protein, literally, per 30 grams. Zero fat, zero carbs, 3.3 protein. Mixed veggies, steamed pouches. Sweet corn, and I like to add that to my burrito bowls and my rice. Mixed beans. Now this actually gives me a good opportunity to talk about food processing. Processed foods food processing, there's nothing bad about that. Food processing doesn't make food bad. It's just typically the ingredients and the food used in food processing is bad. So for example, you know, I saw breakfast in a can, you know, it was like terrible macronutrient profile, very low in micronutrients, very low protein, very low in fiber. People look at that and they say, oh, processed food is bad. But then you get something like beans, which is high in protein, high fiber, low fat, very micronutrient dense, and it's a great food. And also another one is whey protein— highly, highly processed, but yet it's one of the most bio— bioavailable proteins and high quality protein sources available to us. So you really can't judge a food based on how processed it is, but I do agree that typically processed food tends to be bad. But it's not the food processing that's making it bad, if you get what I'm saying. Zero-calorie beverages just keep me on track with my diet when I'm cutting. Helps to kill cravings so much. Salsa. Now, I always say this, sauces can screw up your diet completely. Like, you can be seasoning your meal and just ruining it, you know, absolutely blowing your calories out the roof. But go for one that's kind of tomato and pepper based. Like, this is extremely low in calories. There's hardly any ingredients. So this isn't going to change your meal much and it's going to flavor it greatly. Got some cereals, bran flakes, and then pro tip: get your bran flakes because it's such a good source of fiber, and then add something to them, like do a bit of mix and match. Oh, it's absolutely delicious. Some Calypso's, put them in the freezer. Each one of these is 17 calories. You know, some people might not even bother tracking that. One Irish Rain Shake. Now I always say this to all my clients. The reason I don't like meal plans, and I much prefer to work off macros and get so much better results, is, for example, if in a meal plan it says 200 grams of beef, that beef can have 40 grams of fat in 100 grams of it, or it can have like this, 5 grams of fat. So that is why I much prefer working on macros. Meal plans are just too vague, and you know, there's too much variations. Like, you can have a different brand of something and the macros will be completely different. More microwaveable rice, some long stem broccoli, asparagus. Oh, now this is so good, and I only kind of learned this trick a while ago, and it is vegetable and chicken stock. Basically per stock cube is 5 calories. Throw it in with your rice or whatever kind of dish you're cooking and it completely flavors the dish. Obviously, like I said, it's just 5 calories. It's not gonna, you know, make or break your diet, and it will add such good flavor to it. I am big into learning how to flavor your meals without sacrificing nutrition. It just makes your diet so much more enjoyable. I could not do the plain chicken and broccoli 6 times a day bullshit. So just learn how to season your meals, learn how to flavor them, and I'm telling you, your diet is gonna be so much more sustainable and enjoyable. Some low-fat cheeses, uh, reduced-fat mild red cheddar, and this is like some fake-ass white potatoes. And probably one of my favorite carb sources, zero fat, and leave on the skin, there's a good bit of fiber in it, really easy to cook, goes with everything, and high potassium. Also, there's no better— like, you know, what's better than white potato or sweet potato? Both have different micronutrient profile. Both are great sources of carbs. Rice cakes and Ready Brek. I'm pretty sure that— there goes the fucking rice cakes. I'm pretty sure that's just oats. Another salad bowl, tomatoes, frozen strawberries. I always add these to my shakes, and when you add frozen fruit to your smoothies and shakes, it makes them like ice cream. Oh, it's so good. I'm actually gonna put that in the freezer. And cooked deli ham if I want a lean hit of protein. More beans, red kidney beans. Again, I love these. Add these to your burrito bowls. Good source of protein and fiber. Of course, my— don't, don't neglect micronutrients. A lot of people, you know, they get— they who bash on if it fits your macros or flexible dieting, they think that we just completely ignore micronutrients. But as you can see here, I've got a very micronutrient-dense diet. I recommend between 5 to 7 servings of fruit and veg a day, you're gonna get sick, you're gonna get run down, it's just not gonna be a good time. Cod fillets. And most of my protein I get from kerrigansmeats.ie, they hook me up. Actually, on my Instagram and Facebook page, I'm gonna do a €100 giveaway with them, and so stay tuned for that. But, um, yeah, I just got these just to top up. Lighter than light mayonnaise, this stuff is just wizardry. Kale. Instead of having a multivitamin, just include kale into your diet. It is so nutrient-dense. Now, I fucking hate kale, don't get me wrong. I think it tastes like ass. But if you freeze it and you add it to your shakes, it honestly tastes good, makes your shakes nice and thick. So that's what I do. I literally— I do not eat it if it's not frozen and in a shake. Lemons. I chop these up, add them to like green tea or even like my pre-workout, uh, or some 7up free. Honestly tastes really good. Courgette, chop these up finely and add them to a pasta dish. It will bulk up the meal so much. Extremely low calorie, high volume, and that's what you want when you're cutting. You want foods that'll fill you up, because why do diets fail? You get too hungry and cheat on your diet. More lettuce and mixed salad. Spicy chilies, add them to rice dishes. Tuna. And then to finish off some Mediterranean herb wrap. All right, so next I want you to pause the video and comment down below how much you think all this costs. I'm waiting. So it all in total came to €110, um, which I think is so worth it. That's like, you know, 3 meals out. If you're on a budget, cooking your own meals is just so so much less expensive. Anyways, like I said earlier on the video, doing a big shop just gets me in the cutting mentality, and there actually is a mentality that you need when you're cutting down that I'll talk about on a later day. As you can see, I'm still settling into my new apartment. This is the first shop I did, so when we are all settled in, apartment tour coming soon. And also, I will be starting a new cutting series. The cutting series is going to be called Body Power Prep. I think it rolls off the tongue well, it's easy to say. I was gonna call it Lean with Lift or Getting Lean with Lift, but I don't know, I think Body Power Prep just rolls off the tongue and, you know, body power, making your body look powerful. It's also good for search engine optimization. If the videos get a lot of views and likes, when people search body power, they'll be at the top of the list. So I think that could help the channel too. But maybe I'll call each episode something like you guys You guys write the best comments ever. I honestly love when people comment on my videos. Someone was like, call it the Rob Lipsett deficit, or Shredded Cabbage, or Lipsett 2.0. But, uh, so maybe we'll call each episode a different thing. I don't know, we'll see. Each episode is going to be a full day of eating, meal by meal, full day of training, rep by rep, maybe some cardio talk. I'll also include a physique update in every single episode. So you can guys see how I'm going along, and hopefully that'll motivate you guys to stay on track with your plan too. And I'll also just be going about my daily lifestyle in general. So I cannot wait to get started. I'm just in a good place right now to make this a kick-ass series. I really want to up the production quality as well, so I've got a few surprises coming in that department too. Thank you guys so much for watching. I hope you enjoyed this episode. I'll catch you next time. Keep it real.
