I Got ANOTHER Car?

In this vlog, Irish fitness influencer Rob Lipsett opens with a hectic morning plan that includes a live TV3 interview about his upcoming book, The Rob Lipsett Game Plan. During the interview, hosts Simon Delaney and Muireann O'Connell discuss the book’s four‑part structure—mindset, training, nutrition (flexible dieting), and recipes—while probing Rob’s fitness philosophy, his transition from Love Island reality TV to a full‑time YouTube creator, and his views on the modern obsession with appearance. After the interview, Rob returns to his vlog, showing a casual workout with friend Tommy (bodyweight squats and push‑ups), then moves to a full gym session that emphasizes compound lifts and a high‑intensity deltoid superset. Interspersed are personal‑life snippets: a car upgrade from a Mercedes to a customised Skoda (carbon‑fiber panels, red brakes), a cooking segment featuring steak and eggs, a visit to his aunt, a pop‑up shop in Dundrum, and plans for a new pre‑workout called “Congo water.” Throughout, Rob stresses accessibility of fitness information, engages with his audience via comments, and promotes his YouTube channel and merchandise. The vlog blends promotional content, practical fitness advice, lifestyle vlogging, and behind‑the‑scenes moments.

Good morning everyone, how are we doing? Welcome to today's vlog, right? So I have got a really fun but busy day planned, okay? So right now, first things first, I'm a little bit late as usual, just a little bit, is I gotta run off to TV3, TV3, because I'm doing a quick little interview. It's only gonna be about 10 minutes about my new book and about, you know, getting in shape, whatever, okay? I'll see what they ask me, but But so I've got to go off and do that now. And I'm literally back from Spain like a day. I'm yet to unpack. Spare room's looking better than usual. I got all that as well. So we're going to get dressed now. I'm going to stick on some Alphalete and then we're going to hit the road. And I also got some other cool stuff in line today. So like the video, it takes 2 seconds, and then let's get into it. All right, so I'm just outside TV3 now. I'm going to go in. Usually you gotta get your makeup done before you go live on air. I don't know how I feel about that, but anyways, we're gonna go in and say hi to everyone, get set up, go through what we're talking about, and then go live on air. Let's hope I don't ruin my life. Okay, right, let's do it.
Welcome back, former Love Island contestant and fitness expert Rob Lipsett joins us now. Good morning, Rob.
Rob has just written a book on fitness and nutrition called the Rob Lipsett Game Plan, which comes out in January. Rob, you're very welcome.
Thank you so much for having me.
Lovely to have you here today. And you know, we were just chatting earlier on about bringing out a book. Obviously you had your chef book, your cookbook last year, and it's a real sense of personal achievement when that happens, I'd imagine.
Yeah, so I've written a couple ebooks and online guides in the past, but it's a different feeling having something physical in your hands. So yeah, I'm really proud of it.
So why move from the ebooks and articles? What was the inspiration behind getting an actual physical book written?
Yeah, I think it reaches a different audience. You know, there's kind of a younger generation would be more online, and then it just reaches an older generation when it's actually in stores.
Yeah, that's true. I like having something. Not that I'm the older generation.
I'm just on the cusp. No, no, no.
Just on the cusp.
You're looking great. I'm looking very emotional. I look even better your tuition. I don't know.
72. But Rob, This day and age, I would imagine that the younger generation— we're talking about people who are just finishing school and then in their early 20s— they're much more knowledgeable about health, fitness, nutrition than we would have been when we were in school because there wasn't much of that education around, certainly not in school and college anyway. So now for people in their 20s, they're very aware of how they present themselves to the world. Is that a good thing or are we getting too obsessed by it?
I think, you know, often the answer lies in the middle. I think it's a great thing that more younger people are looking after their health, and it's crazy, you know, When I was younger, people may go out drinking or they'd be crazy into going to nightclubs, and now everyone's mad into the gym and health and fitness. So I think that's great.
But it's important that it's more about health and fitness as opposed to being obsessed with their looks. Yeah. That Instagram kind of thing.
Exactly, yeah.
Tell us then the detail about the book, because there's kind of 4 main threads to it. Tell us a bit of detail.
For sure.
So the first part is kind of an introduction, a little bit about my story, and I really enjoyed writing that because That's kinda, my personality comes out in that. And then there's also in that section, it's kinda my mindset, how I set goals, my approach to life, how you can apply it to yourself. So that's part 1. Part 2 is training, so there'll be loads of free training plans there. Part 3 is nutrition and my kinda whole ethos behind that on getting in shape. I follow flexible dieting. So, you know, we have studies showing that when you compare rigid dieting, super strict dieting, You actually get better long-term results if you're more flexible with your diet. So that is part 3. And then part 4, there's some recipes in there that are gonna be fun to make. Oh man. There you go. So yeah, watch out everyone. Next stop, chef. I'm here.
So you have a multifaceted approach then. So with regards to your own journey, how did you get interested in fitness to the level that you're at now, bringing out a book?
Yeah, so I think when I was about 12, 13 years old, I was mad into rugby and that kind of got me into the gym. Got me into strength and conditioning, and then I kind of kept it up until I was about 18 or 19, and then the gym and strength and conditioning part kind of took over rugby. So that's what first got me into the gym.
Okay, well Simon made a very good point earlier on, and I have found this over the years, that I've gone to various trainers and sometimes I get too intimidated and too overwhelmed. I mean, the average person out there doesn't necessarily want or need a six-pack.
Exactly.
They just want to be a bit more toned, feel a bit more comfy in their own clothes and in their own skin. So I mean, there's a huge difference between being absolutely ripped and then losing that extra, you know, 5 or 6 pounds that bothers us to feel confident in ourselves. And so, you know, we also have to make sure that people, the general public, that we're also listened to.
Yeah, exactly.
Not just the niche people who are into their fitness. And that's where you, I suppose your book is very appealing.
Yeah, so I'm kind of used to, the hardest part writing this book was actually making it, you know, available in layman's terms and breaking it down.
Making it accessible.
Exactly, and it actually shows you truly know what you're talking about if you You can take a complicated approach and then make it simple, okay? And make it something that everyone understands.
But as you say, Rob, it's not just an approach to, yeah, a game plan in terms of fitness regimes, but the diet as well. It's what you're putting in there. Because we are what we eat.
Exactly, yeah. And I think sustainability and adherence is the most important part of any training plan. So, like what you're saying, we don't all want to be super ripped and, you know, go, go so extreme at this. Really, we just want something that we can sustain, adhere to, and enjoy.
I mean, you have to be because you need to be a good advertiser of your product.
You don't have to be.
But just going back to Love Island, you'll meet Tommy in a couple of minutes' time. Tommy was mad into Love Island, along with half the population, as far as I can see, in the summer.
Crazy.
You had the pleasure of being in there last summer.
Yeah.
Would you like to do another reality TV show? Just because, um, I suppose you obviously have rhythm and the job that you do.
Are you saying dancing, maybe?
Yeah, maybe.
That I might find a little bit difficult. Yeah, I've got two left feet.
But you know, I'm always open to trying new things.
I never say never. So right now my focus is mainly on my YouTube channel because that's kind of like my own reality TV show. You know, you can direct, edit, and star in it yourself. So I'm having a lot of fun with that.
But are you cooking on that, by the way?
I do. I've got some of my most viewed videos are cooking videos. They're called Full Day of Eating, where I just show every single thing I eat in a day. And so there's some of my most viewed videos.
But I would definitely do reality And do you like the way that your audience can engage with you directly? I know when Simon Goes, when you do your trips around the country—
Yeah, yeah, when you're cooking down with them. It's lovely to be able to do that. The interaction's great.
It's great. I often don't look at the views on a video as numbers. I look at it as people who are watching my videos, and I love the comment section. I always take some time out every day to reply to as many people as possible, and I think that's what makes social media social.
Well, listen, I think we've given you an easy task today because we're going to send you over to Tommy now.
You say easy.
So if you want to head over there, Rob, lovely chatting with you.
Guys, thank you so much.
Tommy's going to look after you from over there.
Cheers. Thank you, guys.
Thanks, Tommy would be into his fitness and does play football team.
What I'm most excited about this next piece is—
what?
Wait till you see Tommy's shorts.
His shorts?
Yes.
Let's have a good—
Tommy has shorts on.
Good to see you, buddy. Right, what are we going to do here? Okay, so the workouts in my book are going to be mainly kind of revolved around resistance training and barbells and compound movements, but today I'm going easy on you, okay? Hey, bring it on. Right, right. So we're just doing some bodyweight squats and some push-ups as well, okay? So super simple. We're going to get down, hands shoulder-width apart.
And these are simple straightforward push-ups?
Simple straightforward push-ups. How much do you reckon you can do? Uh, well, how much time do we have? 1,024? Well, tell you what, we'll just do 5. Oh no, we're going for 10. We're going for 10. You'll split the difference. All right, same time, right? So down, just chest just above the floor, okay? Chest. So right?
Okay.
1. 1. That's it. 2. 3. 4. Come on, halfway there. Clutch here, Rob. That's it. Come on. We got 3 more. 8. 9. And last one. Let's finish strong. Come on. Nice! There we go. Give him a round of applause. Thank you. Thank you. There we go. And then, so we're gonna go for some bodyweight squats. Give me another biscuit here, please. Yeah, can we get some more cookies here? So again, we're just going to do 10 of them. So feet shoulder-width apart. So what are we working here with the— we're going to work the glutes. We're going to give you an Instagram famous booty after these. Yeah. So we're going to squat down just to parallel or below. Okay, so you might want to put your hands like this for balance. And just down like so. Perfect, that's good depth. How many of these? That's good depth. I've always been complimented on my depth. Come on, it's the morning, easy with the filthy jokes. How many of these should you be looking for? We'll go for 10, okay? So you're up and— Yeah, up like so, down, slight pause. I'm gonna miss this. There you go. Maybe I'll just do this every morning, like for you. I'm your new trainer. Perfect, so we go for— 4, 3 more. So this is the, the, the booty, as you say. That's it, working the glutes and all those leg muscles. There we go, one more. You smashed it, well done, well done. Good stuff. Right, yeah, we're done. That's it, we're taking it easy today. Ready for Instagram? Get it for Instagram, there you go, give them a follow. Brilliant stuff, Rob, thanks so much for having me in. I had such a laugh. I know, it was good to have you. Yeah, we have some cookies for this man. Yeah, I saw them over there. Yeah, I wanted at least 3. Good stuff. Right, coming up next, autumnal cover-ups in fashion. See you soon. So all finished up. That went really well, at least I'd like to think so. But yeah, so I'm gonna hopefully get some clips from online, or they'll send me the interview and I'll be able to put it into this video. And we're also talking to some of the producers, the staff there, about presenting. I think that's something like I would enjoy and be good at, you know, like pretty much With YouTube, it's like every day you're just presenting. Yeah, that'd be fun to do alongside YouTube, but I still have no signs of ever giving up YouTube as of now. Like, literally no signs whatsoever. Um, so no, we'll see. But anyways, I haven't seen my mommy since I've been home, and I really want to see her, so that's what I'm going to do now. And you probably notice I'm in a different car, okay? I am getting my Benz done up at the moment, okay? I'm getting some upgrades. I talked about it in a recent video, and it's so funny.
I posted—
I'm in a Skoda right now, okay? And I posted it on my Instagram story the other day and everyone was jumping to conclusions. Did I crash my car? I lent it to Nabil last week, so people are like, did Nabil crash the car? Are you gone broke and you had to sell your Mercedes? Okay, so the titles on this video, the possibilities are endless. Okay, but after this, my car should be dropped back to me and I'll give you a look at what I got done. Okay, but yeah, so very funny, uh, people jumping to, uh, conclusions about the car. But yeah, it's gonna be sweet. All done visiting my aunty. And does anyone else's parents, or their mother in particular, when you go over, they just give you food? Like, they just send you out the door with food, right? It's just like an Irish mammy thing. Feed the children, keep everyone fed. But so I'm gonna go home now, probably make steak and eggs, which is one of my favorite meals. It really satisfies my appetite. And also, hopefully my car will be ready, so stay tuned. Here's a quick look of the Skoda. Yeah, it's an all right car, but I know, it just doesn't feel the same as Mercedes. Interior is decent though. Anyways, the car should be arriving in the next hour or so. I feel, I feel like getting a new car, like feel like getting Christmas. I am a man of my word, so I am having steak and eggs. I'm gonna put the eggs on the pan in a little bit. Just gonna season this up, a little bit of salt and pepper, and then I'm gonna put that in the grill, then kind of burn it a little bit on the pan and just have eggs with that. Well, I know that does not look pretty, but if you are trying to— maybe you're back from holiday trying to cut down, tighten up a little bit, so I'm trying to do— or maybe you're struggling with appetite, okay, steak and eggs in the morning or at lunch or whatever, okay, I'm honestly— with even with some black coffee, right, honestly kills your appetite. It's definitely the large amounts of protein, some good healthy fats in there as well, like, you know, it's just just, just trust me on it. Give it a, give it a go. But, uh, right, so I'm gonna eat this now and then chill for a little bit, right? So I just got a call from Ryan there from Charles Hurst. That is the company that did up the car, and they are outside now. So I'm very excited. Okay, I wonder like how different it will look. I was, yes. Thank you for tuning in. I appreciate it, guys. Thank you. Oh shit, we got— oh man, oh my God, it looks mean underneath that, doesn't it? What? You got carbon fiber on the sides! No, it looks completely different. Oh my God, brother! Give me a big hug! Give me a big hug! Oh my God. Um, it looks completely different. Yeah, that— this— yeah, yeah, it is unbelievable, lads. If you need any car custom jobs, right, I'm gonna link right in the description. Okay, where you find these guys? This is unbelievable. Like the red brakes, what is it, the wheel cap? Yeah, the center caps. Center caps. Oh my God, even around here. Yep, next level. It's so much better. Yeah, comment down below what you guys think about this, but I'm absolutely delighted. Like, it's looking mean, it's looking mean. So all right, I'm smash workout, get on with our day, and yeah, we Yo, so I was just up in a mate of mine's, uh, shop in Dundrum. It's like a pop-up shop, um, shop, or I think it could be a permanent shop. Ross Warswick, anyways, okay, the Couture Club. I'll do a little Instagram story up here, show you it. Very cool. And then, right, we're running into everyone today. Today's a sick vlog, to be honest, right? Let's be real, it is, right? Look, I got these two fellas right here. So me and Glenn, we've done some videos in the past. I'll link his channel below. He's absolutely, he's absolutely killing it right now. He is. No, no, he is. Like, I, I see him putting in that extra That extra work, and it doesn't go unnoticed. I swear to God. Yeah, that's what I see, you know. I respect work ethic, and I see that. So we just missed each other, so I could have had some massive, some huge gym partners today, but these guys, they're way too big for me. They're way too big for me. They just make me look like a dweeb on camera. Yes, this fella here. What's in the water where you're from? That's Congo water, man. That's it, right? Congo water. I'm going to start a new, a new pre-workout called Congo water, right? I'm going to go in, hit a chest day, some shoulders. Let's get after it. Right everyone, so it is Saturday evening, so the gym is nice and quiet, which is so ideal for a push day. So I'm going to put all those Barbadian calories to use, all the pasta, all whole pizza, so let's see what we can do. Good. Feel all right? But you know it's serious time when warmed up and the long sleeve comes off and the tank top goes on. So again, all this is Alphalete. The stock is pretty low on the website right now, but, uh, of course, all the links below. Here's me trying to be all cool and I put it on backwards. Okay, yeah, we got it this time. We got it. Okay, sweet. Yeah, okay, sweet. So we're coming towards the end of the workout now. You know, right, you know this, I always recommend base your workouts on compound movements, right? Heavy compound movements and increasing those lifts over time, okay? Your squat, your bench, your deadlift, your shoulder press, and you know, again, we did decline, that's another compound move.
Movement.
After all that stuff is done, you know, you're allowed to have a little bit of fun with your isolation movements to keep things interesting, right? So that's one thing I kind of like to mix up and again, just have some fun with. So we're doing this crazy superset here. It'll give you those fake natty 3D delts, right? To give you a sick pump. And it's going to be, we're starting off with plate raises, hit the front delt. Then we're going to go over, do dumbbell lateral raises for the medial delt. And then we're going to go on to rear delt flies to hit the rear delts. So I've done like 2 sets of these and it's feeling good. So right, let's get it. Oh my God, so I did 4 sets of that, no rest between exercises, 60 seconds rest between each round. And yeah, it's an absolute killer.
You'll feel the burn.
All right, it's now, it's time to eat, shower, ¡Hala, let's move! So we have some gourmet steak here, um, I think it's Japanese-Mexican. I probably made that up on the spot, but let's see, okay? I'm like Jamie Oliver that lives. Oh my God, that was like Lady and the Tramp, just instead of spaghetti it was with a burger. See you tomorrow.
