I Had To Go Back To Dublin...

In this vlog, Rob Lipsett returns to Dublin for a fitness‑wellness festival, documenting a live HIIT session, a panel discussion on resilience with former Love Island contestant Greg O'Shea, and a training workout at Raw Gym Sandford. The video blends on‑site event footage with personal storytelling. Rob reflects on his early social‑media anxieties, the criticism he faced when first sharing fitness content, and how he turned those challenges into a full‑time career as a trainer and influencer. He shares his philosophy of resilience—"find a way or make one"—and emphasizes the importance of passion, patience, and perseverance in building a fitness business. The vlog also highlights the significance of Raw Gym as the birthplace of his journey, showcases specific exercises (HIIT, goblet curls, chest/back/arm supersets), and offers motivational advice for aspiring creators about handling online negativity, staying authentic, and enjoying the process rather than rushing to success.

Wassup! We're back, people! I'm in Dublin, we got Ben here. Nature's healing! We're about to do a fitness wellness festival. Alright guys, look, we're late. We're back in Dublin as I explained in the last vlog. We're going down to do a live HIIT workout if I make it there in time, and also a panel talk with Greg O'Shea. He was on Love Island as well, he did a little bit better than me. It's going to be a great day. Then I'm meeting a few people from school. How do you drive this thing? Look, instead of like a stick, it's like— like, am I gonna be in like an intense speed chase? I'm like, ho ho ho! We're going down to Navan afterwards to meet a few guys from Dublin who I went to school with that I haven't seen in so long. So today we're back in Dublin. I brought the good weather with me. It was all me. That's the reason why the weather is good. We're also going to try and get a workout in in Raw Gym Sandiford, which has been done up as well. So give the video a thumbs up and let's go! Rocking into a fitness festival, just blaring 24 Savage, "Clay, what you gonna do for this, Clay?" I'm like, "A HIIT workout, live." So this is the organizer of the event. We just got to the staff car park here. Look at him go! Where's the Mercedes gone? You're gone broke and you had to sell it, didn't you?
What's up, bro?
I'm saying, right, getting the weather for an outdoor fitness event in Ireland, You won the lotto. You won the lotto. So apparently I have to do a HIIT workout up on stage. Now me, you know, I'm more of a lift things up, put them back down type of guy. So I'm not sure how I'll get on. I'm probably like one of the unfittest people here, believe it or not. If you put a pin in my arm, it'll just, you know, fizzle out like SpongeBob SquarePants. We'll see what we can do and I'm going to give it our all. This is Jamie and right now I'm going to do probably the first HIIT workout you've ever seen on this channel. UGI going. Slap a few plates on a machine, move it a couple inches, and I'm like, all right, I'mma head out. But now we're going to go up anyways and we're going to do some actual cardio. And that's not a Spanish word I learned in Marbella. So like, anyone care for a bench press challenge after this? Like, something I'd actually be decent at. Here, you want me to hold it? Yeah, yeah. Don't read the DMs.
Hello everybody, got a real good feeling, got a real good feeling, like there is life deep in my bones, got a real good feeling, I won't hit the So I'm going to be doing this type of training, different to what I usually do.
I'm loving it. In the morning, the sun's out, good group of people, I'm happy. Hey everybody, I've been watching, I'm so impressed with these two guys' energies. I'll link everyone's stuff down in the description box. But he survived it, can I say, can I say, I'm going to give him more credit cuz I didn't think he was going to be able to fight. He did very well. Thank you. It's a different type of fitness, it's a different type of fitness, but he did very, very well. He's brilliant. Usually not my type of thing, but I can do anything today.
I'm back in Ireland. I'm like, can't breathe again, man. Got a real good feeling.
Okay, so second event of the day. This is a talk. Thankfully there's no exercising involved. With the man Greg here. Yo, Greg, yo. We were both on Love Island. Greg did a little bit better than me, okay? You know, he lasted more than 10 seconds, right? So that's impressive. We're going to go up now. We're going to do some Q&A and just change some lives. Rob, same question to you, sir.
What does the word resilience mean to you and how do you apply it to your life?
So I don't have many tattoos or visible ones, but I do have one on my leg right here that says, "I'll either find a way or make one." And nowadays we're often too quick to think, "Oh, this is it, this is a dead end, and there's no way around something." There's always, whatever your goal is, no matter what, when there's footprints on the moon, I don't believe what you tell me, right? There's always some way to make it happen. So nowadays We could all do so much with a little bit of encouragement and a little bit of resilience to not give up so easily and just sit down, be calm, take a step back and think, right, whatever my goal may be, how am I going to get this? Okay, you know, it might take a month, it might take a year, it might take 10 years, but either way there's going to be a way there. So see, it's such a beautiful word as well, resilience. It's just the ultimate definition of not giving up. And not giving up easily as well. Find something worth suffering for. And so something that you want so badly to achieve that it doesn't matter what troubles come your way or what adversities. You say, I don't care because I'm on my path. Okay, so you find something that it really just doesn't matter what life throws at you, that you got that end goal, that just something you'd love to achieve, and just find that thing and go hard at it. All right, wrapping things up today. I felt like a piece of me was restored. As this is the Lamest thing I ever said, but we're going to go with it. But seriously, it's like me and Ben were just talking there, it feels like back in normal times, 2017, 2018, a festival, good weather, good people, and just some banging tunes, good food. It's really good. So it's a very wholesome day. We're going to finish it up here, probably pick up the vlog maybe in Raw. You down for session in Raw? All right guys, so we are back in the building, Raw Gym Sandford. Any OGs of the channel will just know this this place so well. They're probably used to seeing it red and black, but, uh, now we got rid of the red. Looks a lot cleaner, I'm loving it. But this brings all types of feels back for me. Like, this is essentially where my journey began, so I'm just have to say I'm happy to be back, you know. It's a new day, the event went amazing, and now we're gonna disconnect for a little bit, get a really good upper session in, and just enjoy it. But yeah, all types feels. This is even the music that was playing in my Alphalete video, my first ever Alphalete video that I recorded here. So, oh my God, I'm about to go kill it caffeinated. So let's smash it. Got to set some personal records when you're in here.
Let's go.
So the funny thing is, the first time I ever took a step on social media, I was on Facebook and I said, look, I'm just addicted to the fitness, and you know, I want to make a career out of this, I want to go full-time with it. And so at the time, Facebook was the thing. That's how long ago it was. We didn't even have TikTok, or, you know, Instagram wasn't as popular as it is now. So I'd write articles on Facebook debunking common fitness myths, and the moment I clicked share on my first ever post, I had a panic attack and I ran into the other room because I couldn't look at the laptop. I was like, oh my God, what people are going to just say, uh, who does this fella think he is? Billy Biceps over here doing curls on the internet, like, who, who does he think he is to give people fitness advice? And they did say that, but just like what Daniel's saying there, you know, if you love something and you're passionate about something, forget what anonymous stranger accounts on the internet say. It's literally complete nonsense. That's like, first of all, just a few things to break down here. What does their day look like if they're taking time out to log in, type a comment, a negative comment, look into what you're doing, and press send? What does their day look like? Probably not great. Probably not great. Would you want to swap places with them? No. Second of all, these aren't people you even know, and it's so strange when we see this comment on an internet, off an anonymous profile or something, we take it so personally and it shocks us. We need to remind us that these are just, you know, people hidden behind a screen. Such good attachments. These MagGrips. See your hand just hooks on there. Right here, it's like you're wearing gloves. It's amazing. That's the type of stuff that I get excited about. Like different cable grips. That's the highlight of my weekend. So I don't really deal with it. At the start I did, of course. I was very taken aback, you know. I was very afraid to post and everything. I was like, "Oh God, what do people think?" And then over time you just realize that, you know, people are going to talk either way, so let them at it. It's not opinions that I care about. Employ a bit of empathy. Think, what does their day look like to be actually so invested in you? They're actually logging in, thinking about it, typing it out. There's at least 15 minutes of thought in there. So, so that, that's what I do. I employ a bit of empathy and I think, do I really value this person's opinion and would I swap days with them? There was a point in my life where I was failing literally absolutely everything. College exams, um, didn't have I got fired from my job, and then I didn't even have a connection to get a new job, and I was just lying in bed until 2 PM all day. My diet was all over the place. I wasn't hitting the gym, and I just felt at a dead end in my life. And then I stripped it all back, and I said, Rob, you know, you need to sort yourself out. You need to make a living. You need to do something with your life. I said, what do you like to do? You know, what is it that you can actually commit to? You can't do college. You can't keep down a job. Rob, what do you like to do? I said fitness, going to the gym. I go, how the hell am I going to make a career by going to the gym? And that's when I started following my passions. I got my personal trainer certificate, and I started— it motivated me to get up out of bed in the morning because you don't need that motivation to get up out of bed when you're doing something you like. It sounds so cliché, but we should do things that we're passionate about because you're going to be way better at them. If you're not going to be at the the top of your field if you're not doing something you love. Do you think LeBron James doesn't love basketball? No, he loves it. That's why he's the best. See how we're looking. A little physique update after the weekend. A lot of whiskey sours. But look, we're here. We're still— the abs are still somewhat intact post-summer. I don't know how, but they are. Crazy. So after this, there's some tricep dips. Little bit of isolation work, some supersets. There we go. But so I really, really urge people to strip everything back and say, what's the last thing that really made you feel fulfilled and really put a smile on your face? And for me, that's helping people achieve their fitness goals and also spending time in the gym and learning about fitness and nutrition as well. I've learned so much from Daniel as well. His nutrition advice is just bang on. So I'm honored to share the stage with him today. And so I just strip everything back and go from there. And then you burn the bridges, okay? So just you get your eye on the target and say there's no going back now. So that's it. And yeah, there was a great, great response to that video. But there's nothing, not a single thing in my life that I haven't failed at first. The first ever seminar and an event that I put on, no one bought a ticket. Not one. I had to cancel the event. Now, now we're here with all these beautiful people here on a lovely day in Dublin, surrounded by amazing people. So, you know, I think I— there we go. Yeah, I'd love to, like, like, if I was prepping for a show or something, prep here in this gym, because the last time I prepped here was last time I won competition. So it'd be sweet, be like back to the roots kind of series.
So you're saying, and I completely agree with you, we should do something that we enjoy and that we love so we'll get up out of bed in the morning and want to go to work. But things that people love to do, for instance, don't get you money straight away. Like, how long did it take for you to start being successful?
I think about 4 years, and then I was able to go like full-time. So, you know, I started or even like 3, 3, 4 years. I don't know the exact time, but I started in 2014 and up until like, you know, 2016, '17, that I wasn't, you know, making like a good living from it, but I didn't care. So benefit of doing them is basically takes your forearm, your grip, everything out of it. Just really isolates the biceps. I don't know what you can call them. I would say goblet curls. I'll put the correct name on the screen after I do some research, but it is serious if you want to just get that peak contraction, get that golf ball action. So sick. Because I was just enjoying it so much. Like, sometimes I actually think, I'm like, maybe I was actually happier at the start because it's like you're, you, you're like, you're on this mission, you're on the come up. I think the journey and the come up is the best part. So what I say is, you know, don't rush it. And enjoy every step of the way. Like, imagine you're there, you want to climb Mount Everest, right? Okay, you get to the top, you feel amazing, right? Imagine you just got a helicopter to the top. I'd say that wouldn't feel very good. So then when you think about that and you get the two people, the one that got the helicopter to the top and then the person that climbed it all the way, they put in work at every single foot of the summit, I think that person is going to have a way better experience and love it. A lot more to look back on.
100%, Rob. Cheers, thanks very much for that.
Oh my God, okay, so that is an entire chest, back, and arms workout done. Pump is always just insane every time in Raw. Just chatting to the staff there, I miss it so much. Now that travel is a little bit more open, a little bit more casual, I plan on coming back every month or every second month. That's That's a wrap today. Unbelievable session.
Rob Lipsett, one word please.
One word? Gains.
