I Took The Spanish Special Forces Fitness Test Without Practice

Rob Lipsett attempts the Spanish Special Forces fitness test in Marbella without training. He nails the sprint, pull-ups, and vertical jump but fails the 3 km run in 14:14, well over the gold standard of 11:15. The 50-meter swim in 36 seconds nearly cost him gold too.

What's going on guys, welcome to today's video. It is time I got on the fitness test hype. That's a common thing on YouTube, you see a lot of YouTubers trying out army fitness tests, police fitness tests, NFL Combine, all that good stuff. And right now I'm shredding down, I'm getting in my best shape possible, so I can't really do the calorie challenges. So let's do another one, let's do the fitness challenges, okay? And seeing as I just moved to Spain, just moved to Marbella, let's do the Spanish Special Operations Challenge, okay? That even sounds badass, me just saying it. I looked it up, I did a bit of research. The Grupo Especial de Operaciones de España. My Spanish still needs work, but you know, we're getting there. This is one of the elite police units from the Spanish special forces. They're founded to be able to counter terrorism situations in Spain. That is pretty badass. It's going to be 5 different exercises, 5 different tests. Okay, first one. Is the 3,000-meter run, and you have pass, good, great, and gold. I'm gonna go for gold in every single one. Pass is 12 minutes, good is 11:30, and gold is in under 11 minutes and 15 seconds. Next up, we got the 50-meter sprint. Again, to get gold in that, you need to do it in 7 seconds. That'll be tough. Chin-ups, uh, 13 reps is gold. I should have that, or I'm a disgrace of a bodybuilder. 50-meter swim. So we're gonna be going back out there and we're gonna track 50 meters and I gotta do that in 35 seconds to get gold. I don't know how I am at swimming, so we'll see. Vertical jump, again, 57 centimeters to get gold. So let's get it, it's a beautiful morning. Time to join the Spanish special forces, let's go. All right, so I got my little Free Train here. If anyone wants to pick one up, I've got an affiliate link in the description box. We're going to use this to track my runs and everything today. And we're also going to use MapMyRun. And so basically you can see here we're running along the port. So great location, Port of Banús. And this thing, it works with GPS. It's actually owned by Under Armour, same people that do MyFitnessPal, which I'm a big fan of as well. And so you got duration here and distance here. So I'm just going to keep running till that says 3 kilometers and hopefully get it. In the right time, so. The only training I've done for this is I did a 5K in Dubai with Louis about 2 months ago, okay? Apart from that, I'm doing this with no training. So one thing I want to do this year is get a lot fitter as well, like actually fit. So today's the start of that. So alright, I'm going to warm up and then let's go! We're gonna record this. We got a stabilizer here. We got Joe on drone operations back there, who's also doing the test after me as well. Go check out his channel.
Alright, we good?
Okay, 3, 2, 1, and we're going! So I ran an extra 200 meters as in the zone, so, so not great, but no practice, give me a break. So 3.2 kilometers. In 14 minutes, 14 seconds. That's that done. Now it is on to the 50-meter sprint. Oh yay!
Oh my God, what?
Pass is— wait, oh my God, pass is 12 minutes.
So what did I get?
I didn't even pass, bro.
I didn't even pass.
Right, so the 3,000-meter run, that was— that was a disaster. I'm actually ashamed of myself, but I'm gonna look to beat it and probably time it a bit better because I did do 200 meters extra, go above and beyond. That's my excuse. But so next up is the 50-meter sprint. So we're just going to map out like 50 meters, like maybe just put two backpacks at either side. And then so the time to beat that is 7 seconds. So I'm going to do it a few times if it takes that. I'm going to try to get that. The pass is 7:40 and then the gold is 7 seconds. So we'll see. Then after that, chin-ups. 13 reps is gold. If I can't do that, I'm quitting YouTube. I'm quitting YouTube, okay? And then 50-meter swim, so that'll be nice to cool down. Then just the vertical jump. Seeing as I'm vertically challenged, that might be difficult, but we'll see anyways. But, uh, right, it's good to get out in the sun anyways, and I definitely want to keep doing more of these fitness tests. Yeah, shout out to Matt Does Fitness and Mike Thurston, two people who really popularized it, two of my close friends. So I'm gonna do some with them, as Mike be coming to Spain in May. And then I also really want to do the Irish Army fitness test. I couldn't find the exact one online, so any of my Irish subscribers, uh, you know someone in the army, you can get that info for me, please do send it on and I'll try it next week. So right, next up, 50-meter sprint, let's go! Push-ups not part of the challenge, I'm just doing this so I look slightly better, pumping the chest up. Influencers in the wild, tag me @roblipsett.
Oh, you're going to get it.
That's it. See, guys, always be grinding, always be making sales, always be plugging. This is marketing 24/7, baby. Okay, point 1. Let's see, point 2. Let's see, 0.3, 0.4. So we'll make it exact, 0.5. So let's see, how do we mark this? Oh, so that's good, just right after that. We'll get a backpack here. I'm sorry, he's— I think he's a bit tired. A minute? Yeah, you need a minute. Okay, so this is it. You can see down there just where our backpacks and all are, right there. That is 50 meters. This man is going to time me. My cheerleader's over here as well. Can I get it? Can I get a little—
whoa!
Yeah! Come on, Rob, you can do it! That was 8 seconds warm-up and it's 7 seconds to get the goal.
Okay, Usain Bolt, the Irish version.
7 seconds 42. Yes! Boom! 7 seconds 42. The man himself, that goal.
There we go. I think 7 seconds is the goal.
Oh, so we didn't even get a goal.
Oh no, I'm trying one more time, one more time.
Yeah, I'm getting the goal. Boom!
7 minutes, 7 seconds.
7 minutes, 7 seconds on the dot. Yes, fast gold! There we go. So boom! Chance 2, gold. Happy with that.
Never give up is the motto.
Never give up, baby. I'll either find a way or make one. All right guys, so next up is the pull-up challenge. So 13 reps is gold, should be able to get that. I'm gonna do as many as I can. It's funny, we're up near Ocean Club, and when life was normal, when we could go to parties and pool parties and everything, you'd come in here, you do a few dips, some pull-ups, get nice and pumped, and then you walk in. Ah, I miss life. But anyway, so today we're doing that without the pool party. Um, just these are perfect here, pretty straightforward. And then we're gonna go out there. Look at that, like, look at that ocean. I can't wait to get in. I'm used to swimming in the 40-foot sea. So we're gonna go out there, we're gonna map out 50 meters on Google Maps, and then do that. And then that's the bulk of it. There's just a vertical jump, and that's it. So yeah, I should, I should be getting a golden this. So, all right, let's get into it. So easy.
Come on, Robbie.
Okay, okay, let me see. I'm going to go— I'm going to go up here, actually. Right? Yeah, that's a nice one. Okay, all right, okay. So count me down.
3, 2, 1, go!
There's that.
4, 6, Let's go.
7, come on. 8, let's go. 9, 10, come on, let's go. 11, 12, come on. 13, how about 2 more for YouTube? Come on. 15, he's got more in the tank.
Yes.
Last one, 20.
Come on, 20.
Boom.
Boom.
Right, so we got gold on that. So thank God, so far we've got a gold in the sprints, gold in these, a fucking big fat fail in the 3000 meters. So now let's get a gold in the swim and a vertical jump, and I'm gonna call up the Special Forces. They're gonna tell me I need to work on my 3K, and then we'll get in. So I just realized I did 20 pull-ups, it says 13 chin-ups, so I'm gonna go one more and we're just gonna do some extra chin-ups. I should hopefully get this easily. Biceps are pretty pumped anyways. So, all right, more work for me. Great.
Come on.
So just like that.
Okay, so let's go.
2.
Good.
4.
Let's go. 5.
Come on.
7.
8.
Come on.
7.
Come on, easy. 12, come on, gold!
It's quite hard, yeah, yeah, especially after you do 20 pull-ups, but right, we got that anyways, gold. Yeah, nice, sweet. All right, swim time. Starting here. We're going to swim along, so let's just get 50 meters. I have no idea how my swimming skills are on this channel, so let's see. Halfway, nearly there. 0.4. So right here. So again, just like the 50-meter sprint, we're gonna walk out till it's deep enough to swim. We're gonna have two markers there. I'm gonna have someone just walk along, make sure we're doing it. And at the time for this This is— Spanish police force are probably laughing at me right now. Okay, 50-meter swim. Gold is 35 seconds, pass is 56 seconds. So that's tough. All right, let's go. A little buddy here as well, and he's gonna offer me support. All right, so my ultra sexy glasses, or my goggles, are going on. Oh yeah, this is it now. This is what peak performance looks like. Right, let's test the water now. Oh, I need to time these up. It's cold, but you know, it's nothing on Ireland, man. I take cold showers, so I've been preparing all my life for this.
Swimming will be the hard part.
It's a little bit cold. Yeah, let's go!
3, 2, 1.
One, go!
Halfway! Halfway now!
Boom!
36 seconds, 3 seconds.
That was, that was the hardest. Oh my God, yes, bro! That was the hardest out of everything, even 3,000 meters. I am so fucked about them, Robbie lad. No wonder Michael Phelps eats 11,000 calories a day. Oh my God, that was the hardest. Felt amazing though. Swimming is just such an insane form of cardio. Literally using everything, going all out. Can't see where you are, but fuck, feels good. All right, you're up, bro. All right, so the last thing on the test, I guess it's just to make sure that, you know, you can jump on stuff, you can get around things. So it's a vertical jump. A pass is 53 centimeters. Good 54, great 55, and gold 57. We just measured, you know, just some vertical jumps around us here. And so for example, this is 99 centimeters. So that's almost like—
what?
It's like 57 is a gold. Okay, well, look, this is just doing what the test does. You can research this yourself. But let's see if I can do this now, okay? Okay, maybe it is quite hard. This one is 70 centimeters and the gold is like 57 centimeters, so this is definitely the easiest part of the challenge, I think anyways. Maybe if you're like, you know, a big 200-pound SWAT team officer, it would be a lot more difficult. But so it's 57 centimeters for gold, this is 70 centimeters. Get that nice and easy. So we're gonna go down there and we're gonna do the one that's over 90 centimeters. Maybe I have a career in basketball yet. NBA, hit me up. So is vertical jump— you have to do 2 feet together? Okay, that is quite difficult.
Like a box jump.
Okay, a box jump. Okay, okay.
Oh, hold on, hold on, hold on, hold on, hold on. A box jump doesn't have a run-up.
Oh, that's true.
Boom.
Okay, okay, true, true. Okay. Yes, boom, got it. Easy. Hey, that was 99 centimeters, so easily passed that first one. 3,000-meter run fail. We did 3.2 in 14 minutes. That sucks. I need you guys to hold me accountable. I'm gonna do that again. I'm going to get 12 minutes and then I want to get down to 11 minutes 15 seconds for gold. 50-meter sprint, golden that. Chin-ups, killed that. We did 13 chin-ups, even threw up. 20 pull-ups on top of that. 50-meter swim, just about got that as well. And vertical jump, we like did nearly double that as well. Easily passed 4 of them and failed 1 of them, so I need to work on my endurance, guys. Comment down below what tests I should perform while out here. Right now, training, my nutrition, everything is really on point. So I want to use this as much as possible, keep that momentum going, and do some cool challenges for you guys to try it as well. And this is also great for a lot of people that don't have gyms. Maybe you're stuck at home. You can see we did not use a single piece of gym equipment in this video. We did it all outdoors. I know the weather isn't as good in Ireland and the UK, but you can still do it. And look, it'll toughen you up if you get in the Irish Sea as well. So guys, give the video a thumbs up, share it with a friend, challenge it, do it yourself at home. I'll see you guys in the next one. Keep it real, I'm out of here. Peace.
