I Woke Up in LA ...

Rob Lipsett flies from Dublin to LA, starting with a macro-tracked pancake breakfast (50g carbs, 30g protein) before dealing with a last-minute Airbnb cancellation. After landing, he tours his new apartment's gym and runs through a full-body circuit with dumbbells up to 80kg.

Yo, what's up everyone? So breakfast time, I'm making some pancakes there. Something that I left out from you guys is I used to be big on making waffles. I used to have like everyone sending me pictures and tweeting me like of their waffle creations, and my waffle maker broke. Yes, I'm back on the pancake hype. If I want to clickbait this video, I'd probably call it like something I haven't been telling you guys. What really happened? The waffle maker. So pancake mix, added in some casein. I'm gonna put some blueberries in as well. Will do. Also, that's about 50 grams. The scales that I use, I always forget I have a link and discount code for this in the description box. I almost just always forget it exists. Gonna mix this up, put it in there. There is the progress on the pancakes. Got a little bit more to go. And the kind of recipe I went for this morning, that is gonna give me just under 50 grams of carbs, 10 grams of fat, and 30 grams of protein. Perfect! Pff, smashed that. To the point of this vlog, today is the last day before we head to LA. We're going tomorrow, Thursday. Today's Wednesday. So we just gotta tie up a lot of loose ends. Gym, laundry, pack, all January plans and emails replied to, post office, haircut would be nice, and I think that's just about it. Whatever pops up the rest of the day, I'll handle it. So right, I am ready to smash the day after that. Let's go. Okay, so like I said, today is, you know, a very stressful day trying to organize everything. And to make it all even better, I had an Airbnb booked and 24 hours to go until we're on the plane to LA, and they decide to cancel it. So no accommodation, and we are leaving tomorrow. The Airbnb was also right beside Gold's Gym Venice, so I was really looking forward to that. But you know what, Now it's an adventure, you know? It's like, drone spanner in the works, woo-hoo! To add to that to-do list today, we are gonna have to sort accommodation ASAP. When things go wrong, you just gotta stay calm, take a deep breath, and just calmly throw the laptop off the balcony. We are still trying to sort accommodation for America. I know, it's kind of funny, but like, okay, it's not funny.
I'm just cooking myself a quick bit of lunch.
It is salmon and couscous. I'm 100% saying that wrong. It's probably couscous. Quick look at the meal I'm about to eat, and I'm gonna have some of this Velveeta Touch of Fruit and some mayo and mustard in it. That YouTube grind. Yeah, editing on the go. Chicken sweet potato salad. Okay, quickly just gonna run in, get my hair cut. So this is a before, and here is after. He cut it way too short in my opinion, but whatever, hair grows. So funny when they hold that little mirror up to the back of your head and you can literally see your worst nightmare in that reflection, but you'll always just be like, yeah, nice one, mate, savage. Okay, this is a better look, better lighting. It's short, but it ain't too bad.
So I just woke up in LA after 24 hours of traveling. Up at 7 AM to go to Dublin Airport, 6 hours Philadelphia, 2 or 3 hour layover, 6 hours to LA. But we're here and we just kind of stayed up a little just to kind of get our sleeping pattern right. And now we woke up and it's like really early, so we got a good jump start in the day and like our sleeping is in sync. So we're gonna get up and explore surroundings. We're in downtown LA. Maybe get something to eat, a coffee or something, and just kind of gather our bearings and make a plan for the coming week. So I'm pumped. The journey over was a bit of a bitch. If Dublin Airport, if you ever get a direct route from Dublin to LA, I will just, I just love you so much.
So now let's see what LA has to offer.
Whoa, my eyes are bloodshot.
Ah, it's better. Okay, so our apartment complex has actually a pretty decent gym downstairs. I talk about this often now and it's still staying in shape while traveling, because I think it is just so much more impressive when you have a good body, you're in good shape, you know, you're strong in the gym, but you have a life as well, you know. So I love incorporating fitness into my lifestyle and, you know, traveling and seeing the world and just being a well-rounded individual. When I know that I'm not going to be hitting the gym as often because I'm traveling, I either do 3 full body workouts a week or 4 upper/lower sessions. So I'll be upper, lower, upper, lower. So today I'm going to go down to the apartment gym, see what it has, and just try get as good a workout in as possible. All right, let's see what we got. Okay, looks pretty decent. Dumbbells up to 80 kg, doable, doable. Cable rack, benches, TRX thing. I reckon we're gonna get an all right workout in here, but I will of course be training in places like Goals Venice over the coming week or so, but this will definitely do for now. Also, whenever I'm doing any like dumbbell work, all the Americans on my channel are always like, "Rob, you're so weak," and I'm like, the weights in my gym are in kg, not pounds. Multiply that by 2.2.
Show me the wonders above, 'cause I don't need your favor, just your love. Please take me back to, please take me back to, please take me back to where my heart was on fire. Back to, just take me back to, just take me back to where my heart was on fire.
Okay, so I did pretty much that full body circuit 3 times. Chest, shoulders, back, legs. Uh, probably gonna finish off with some arms now and then go explore a little bit. Okay, right, so I was just gonna go, you know, go for a walk, explore downtown LA, and then I was like, what is the best way to show you guys downtown LA? And then I realized I had this. So first voyage in somewhere cool in a different country apart from Ireland. Let's crack it out. Every time I unbox this thing, I feel like Hitman with like a sniper rifle. Another successful flight. I am ze captain now.
Trops are growing.
Comment down below if I should do a video on how I went from team no traps to team mediocre traps. Alright guys, so I'm gonna wrap up this vlog here. So today is our first full day in LA, so we're gonna, you know, gather our bearings and meet up with a couple people, a couple people that you probably know from YouTube as well. And over here in LA, I'll probably be doing daily vlogs, so be sure to check back every day on my channel. Upload time is going to be a bit different because we're 8 hours ahead behind UK and Ireland, where most of my subscribers are from. Hope you enjoyed the video. Be sure to leave it a thumbs up and subscribe if you did. Keep it real. I'll catch you next time. I'm just in the best mood ever. See ya! Persons having currently active diarrhea or who have had active diarrhea within the previous 14 days shall not be allowed to enter the pool water. Well, that is just great to know.
