I Won WHAT?!

Rob Lipsett won Best in Vlogging at the Irish Digital Business Awards. He started Lipsett Fitness with €300 and a student-built website, grew it through hard work and reinvested profits, and now runs a clothing line and online fitness presence. The vlog follows his day from morning routine through the ceremony at DoubleTree Hilton in Ballsbridge.

Good morning, YouTube! What is happening? Um, so today it's another very busy day. It's a very busy week, but that's kind of good because there's a lot of good things to vlog. So really quick breakfast this morning. I woke up, wasn't really that hungry, so I'm just making a shake. It's gonna be 2 scoops of Chocolate Brownie Impact Whey, very good flavor. Links in this discount codes in the description box. Some fat-free milk and some Trenblone Monohydrate. All right, so I made a bit of a mistake. I left my G7X battery at home, so it's going to be an iPhone vlog. But look, it's an iPhone 7, so it shouldn't be too bad. Maybe you'll give a bit of a a personal feel to it.
I don't know.
All right, so I forgot to even say what this interview is for. Uh, it is a couple's interview, which I've never done before. I've done plenty interviews myself but not with Sarah, so hopefully we don't kill each other in the process. But it's for Social and Personal magazine, and it is in the Westbury, just off Grafton Street. So see how we get on. All right, okay, so we're done in the Westbury. Sarah, that was very good for your first ever interview, super proud. So now I've got to go get a tuxedo fitted for tonight and then, uh, just kind of get ready for the celebrations in general. Okay, so basically I put out like a tweet yesterday being like, yo Dublin, I need a tuxedo ASAP, and Collars and Cuffs in Glasnevin got on to me, hooking me up. So we're here now, About to go on in, get suited and booted. Get suited in an upwards direction, so let's go. Here we go. How are we doing? What's up?
Nice to meet you.
Great to see you guys. You absolutely saved my ass. You really did, yeah. What's going on? You well? Cheers, thanks so much. How are you? All right, so we're here in Collars and Cuffs, completely getting sorted out. I'm getting like the best treatment ever, and I forgot how amazing it feels to put on a tuxedo. Like, I feel like, I don't know, I feel like a movie star. Here's a sneak preview before tonight. Finished up in collars and cuffs. Again, a huge thank you for like such a last-minute saving my ass kind of thing. Suit is back there. Like I said earlier on the video, it's an award ceremony for digital business, and now Lipsett Fitness, Rob Lipsett, me as a brand, uh, I'm up against some huge companies with like massive budgets, like high numbers of staff and everything, right? So you're probably like, why am I here? And basically I think it's the fact that kind of like what I've done on my own, like I'm a bit of a one-man army. I started this whole thing with €300. You know, when I started, I wanted to build a website. I went to a few web developers and they're like, okay, to build what you're looking for, it's gonna cost like a couple of grand. I said, you know, I was working retail at the time and I was earning like a few hundred euro a month, so I said, I can't do that. So I went to a student who was studying computing, paid about €300 to get the website done. At that, I started online coaching. With that, there's no kind of like investment, it's just your time and your knowledge and how you can help people get results. From that, when I made money off that, I put it into into the clothing line. Once I sold some units, I put that money, the profit I made from that, back into the clothing line. I bought more, end up getting, you know, better kind of camera equipment and everything. It just snowballed, snowballed from there. So the whole kind of business that I've built, it really took zero investment, and I've never even paid a cent for advertising or marketing or anything. Um, it's all just gonna be me. So the point I'm trying to make is, you know, I think I've done all right for, you know, literally no investment, no high-end equipment. Literally started vlogging on an iPhone, and a lot of people think you need like fancy loads of money to start a business, and you really don't. All you need is good hard work and a clear goal that you have in mind. So that's basically what tonight is for. And so I'm just gonna head home, gonna pick up Sarah. I think she's getting her makeup done, and then get something to eat. I haven't eaten much today at all. I'm starving. So, alright, let's hit the road. Hello.
Hello. Like my makeup?
Very nice.
I look very different.
You look totally amazing, girl. Slay! Okay, so this is like my favorite meal from NutriQuik. It is the taco fries with sweet potatoes. It is like 50 protein, 45 carbs, and like 3 grams of fat. What's going on? Taking selfies?
Yes.
All right, let's see, how are we looking? Pretty damn good. Do you want to give us a 360?
Why?
Because I think you're looking good and I want to show you off.
It's kind of hard to do the 360, I'm going to fall over.
It is a yes from me. So I'll show you quickly what I'm wearing as well. Again, I'm just like, can't get over how nice Carlos and Kof work to just literally sort me out with like less than 24 hours to go.
And Borrowers Boutique. Oh yeah, and the Borrowers Boutique, thank you so much for saving the day and dropping the dress over yesterday. I honestly cannot thank you girls enough.
Yeah, I thank Borrowers Boutique as well. All right, so I actually went for a navy tuxedo, little pocket thing. I don't know if I'm doing that right. Black shoes, and look at this, red socks to match your dress. All right, Let's head off. It's in the DoubleTree Hilton in— I think it's in Ballsbridge. I'm gonna drive the two of us because I'm not drinking tonight because tomorrow I have that seminar in DCU. It's non-stop. We are totally late, but like we missed the drinks reception, so we're hoping when everyone's having dinner now we can just kind of like slide in just quietly. Hopefully it's not a case where we like bust open doors and like everyone turns around and it's like, who are those guys? Oh damn, forgot the lights. So we're at the event, I'm just about to dig into this meal now. This is where I always get stuck, I don't know what cutlery to use. So like, there's so many options and I think I'm about to like commit a federal crime if I choose the wrong one.
All help, all help! Thank you.
Maybe I'll just play it safe with the bread. How funky is this lighting? This year at the Shortlist, we won't be short of exceptional.
We have over 500 entries, the biggest ever.
This year has made the judging process, as you can imagine, testing to say the least. But I think what we've seen is a massive demonstration of how far Ireland and Irish business has come, certainly the 21 years of the Irish Pride Awards.
Hey! Well done! Our friends, Look!
Yeah, so we're at the same table as Love in Dublin, very popular, and they just took home the award. So like, that's awesome, you know, me and the owner, the CEO, and Niall, Arbsen. We like following each other on Twitter.
We're bros, so I'm happy for him. Now on to one of the new categories that has just been introduced this year, and that is Best in Vlogging, sponsored by IG, and title presented for us tonight by Raminati. I hope I got that right. We get to discuss about it. The blogging shortlist is: ESB Archives, Rob Lipsett, www.microformance.com, The Travel Expert, Web Doctor Blog, Avalanche, and Core HR and the Power of Document Business. The winner is an impressive blog and definitely a selection that will be becoming in fact more than a blog but indeed a brand. The winner understands their market, they have earned massive following by producing high quality content about a topic which is extremely popular at the moment. The Best in Blogging Award goes to Rob Lipsett! And you can win a night's stay in the Ice Hotel.
What the hell?
And my name is Rob Lipsett.
I'm a photographer, social influencer, online personal trainer, business owner. I'm a line of gym wear. I'm a YouTuber. I'm a public speaker. So I do a lot of things, and this falls more in my category. Thank you so much.
What are you guys Tomorrow we're doing the DCU talk.
Yep, DCU talk tomorrow. Time for a victory steak. This is the meal of champions right here. All right, so successful evening. We're heading home now. This is just further proof that if you do what you love, you're never going to work a day in your life. And not only that, you're going to excel at it. Stuff like this, you know, obviously I'm very like satisfied and everything, but it just drives me and motivates me to want more. So I'm so pumped and, uh, on to the next one. So on that note, DCU tomorrow. I'll see you there. Let's kill it. Keep it real.
