That's everyone's reason for not starting. They're afraid of judgment. Seriously, fuck judgment. Like, you know, it's literally just sounds coming out of people's face.
Haha. It is.
What's going on everyone? My name is Rob Lipsett and this is episode 1 where I'll be documenting my journey back to the stage. I'm getting out of my comfort zone. You know, things were going great. Things were going amazing. And oftentimes when things are going well, that's when we fall into complacency. That's when we get content with life and that's when we get lazy. So you gotta throw in something to shake things up a bit. You gotta challenge and test yourself and kind of punish yourself a little bit. You gotta put yourself through hard times. You gotta take the hard path. That's one of the big reasons I moved to London and that's also a huge reason why I'm competing again and putting myself through this 90 days of intense training and dieting. I won't let up. When I started this channel, it was all about fitness, training, nutrition. And along the years that, you know, I'll do different things, my life changes year to year, and that's absolutely fine. But my true passion in life is fitness and training and putting it out there and making content for the world. So we're stripping it back to basics. That's what it's about, and that's what it's going to be about for the next 3 months.
I won't let up. I won't let up. I won't let up. I won't let up. I won't let up.
I think it's so important to stick to your core values and morals because if you lose them, you kind of lose your sense of being, you lose who you are, and, you know, you change, but you don't change for the better, really. And a lot of people, you know, they do get lost along the way, they get sidetracked, you know, they fall off. And I just think it's so important to remember where you came from, remember why you started as well. And so, you know, you stick with those core principles and you're going to feel a lot better about yourself. You're going to have a better time looking in the mirror. You know, it's all well and good for me to, you know, have a great experience, but what good is that if you can't project that out onto the world? So what will give me a sense of fulfillment is impacting other people's lives in a positive way. And I think if we all did more of that, we all put out more positivity, the world would be a better place. For me, it's really all about the journey, and it's kind of a test of your discipline, your self-discipline, and your dedication. So that's what competing means to me. You know, if someone else shows up on the day and wins, I'm happy for them. And that's the thing, anyone can show up. You know, you don't know what's coming. It's just you versus you. With my previous competing history, I competed in 2015 as my first time, a bit of a sneak preview what's going to come tomorrow. I think I actually came last. With that taught me so much. It taught me to like, don't accept your fucking failures. Like, just get back on it, you know, stop complaining and just go back to the drawing board. Like, you know, literally, you know. And so that, that has fallen into other aspects of my life. And this was something I was thinking about the other day. There is no single thing that I've achieved that I have not failed at first. Bar none. Absolutely none. Every single thing I've achieved, I've failed at. Not only one time, but a couple of times. So with that said, you know, I came dead last my first competition and I actually cried. I actually like, I drove home from the competition and I cried. Like, you know, that's probably a pretty funny image of me driving home in my car crying, but I felt so bad. But, you know, We get over things, and then the year after, I competed in the exact same competition. I learned so much by training and dieting and peak week as well, and I took home first place.
Rob Lipsett!
Again, that's something I'm really proud of. That's something I'll never forget. Well, boys and girls, we brought home some hardware. First place in my class. What actually started me out into the fitness realm, into the fitness industry, was physical training. I come from a rugby background, and with my school I played rugby at a high level, but I found that my favorite part of the whole thing was actually the training. It was the strength conditioning, you know, the tire flipping, the weights, everything, you know, the pitch sprints. And so that is where I developed my love for physical training. Of all kinds, be it, you know, weightlifting, cardio, MMA, anything, going on hikes, calisthenics. I don't like calisthenics. The feeling you get after pushing yourself is a feeling like no other. You know, like I've done some amazing things in life, but one of the best things and one of the biggest joys in life is just being on top of your physical health. There's no better feeling. You know, it's not worth any amount of money. There's no point being the richest guy in the graveyard And not only with your physical health, your mental health and your mindset, they're all linked together and we all need to look after it. Health is number one. Right now.
Right now. Right now.
Right now.
Right now. Right now. Right now. Right now.
So starting out on YouTube or social media in general, and you might not believe this, but it was a huge deal for me. And when I made my first ever post on Facebook, I had a panic attack. I freaked out. I was so worried about what people might say about me, and it's crazy how I've just transformed over the years. And so with anything in life, you know, do what you're scared of. And if you are scared of it, I encourage you to tackle it head-on and, you know, teach yourself to be stronger and take it on. And this is going to carry into other aspects of life. Literally, I was like, people are going to make fun of me, people are going to slag me, you know, people are gonna shun me, they're gonna stop being friends with me. Especially, you know, Dublin is a tiny community, and if you do something out of line, everyone talks about it, you know, and everyone gossips about it. If you're from any small town in the world, that's what it's going to be like. So you gotta not worry about that, you know, you gotta fuck what people say, really. And I don't say that lightly, you know. Are you really gonna let what words come out of someone else's mouth stop you from doing what you want to do, stop you from achieving your dreams. It's so stupid when you think about it. Like, it's literally sounds coming out of a hole in someone's face, and you're gonna let that stop you from achieving your goals and living your dream life? That's such bullshit when you think about it. It's actually— it's funny to think of. So seriously, fuck what noises come out of people's face holes, and don't let that stop you from doing what you want to do. I'm going to show you guys everything. If I have a bad workout, I'm going to show you that. You know, if I'm having a bad day, I'm not feeling like recording, I'm still going to put myself on camera and I'm going to show you that. And that's what I love about YouTube and creating your own content is, you know, you decide and it's on you. You got to put things out there. You're the writer, you're the director, you star in it. It's like your own TV channel. We are on day 5 out of 90 of this prep, so this is more or less the starting point. So I'm gonna look completely different in 90 days, but I'm showing you guys every step of the journey. So one of the greatest joys in life is doing things that people say you cannot do. So I'm looking forward to doing that over the next 3 months. I'm gonna shut a lot of people up, and I'm gonna bring my best package and get my best physique. You know, some people see the partying, the exotic destinations, and they forget that, you know, when I turn it on, that, you know, I can really bring in a great package. Along the way, I want to inspire more people to do the same, and it doesn't have to be step on stage. That's just the goal I've set for myself. It can be anything in in life. And that's one thing that I want to make very clear, that, you know, just because this is a fitness channel, just because I'm competing, doesn't mean that you can't watch it, you can't enjoy it, and that you can't take something from it. I want everyone to be able to take something from this, be it bettering themselves in some way, growing more confident, setting more goals, and going through with them. So I'm gonna finish out this video with one of my favorite quotes and I think a lot more people should take it on board. And that is, I'll either find a way or make one. Basically means no excuses and that if you're presented with a problem, there's always a way around it. So see you in the next video. Thank you so much for watching. Let's keep it real and let's get this bread.
No limits to what I can do.
You know, I got that tattoo there. Yeah, yeah, a lot of people don't know that I've got a little tattoo there. I'll either find a way or make one.
