Intense Leg Day w/ Christian Guzman | Our Future Plans

In this full‑day‑in‑the‑life vlog, Rob Lipsett documents a morning hotel routine, a high‑volume fruit‑rich breakfast, and a detailed leg‑day session with fellow influencer Christian Guzman in Houston. The video walks through a unique warm‑up on a spiked TacMat, then dives into a meticulously programmed leg workout emphasizing tempo, eccentric control, and supersets (pendulum squats with iso‑holds, hamstring curls, diagonal split squats, reverse hypers, calf‑raise/dragon‑flag supersets). Christian explains his recent health overhaul: a 50‑lb weight gain after a 2023 show, cortisol issues, quitting high‑dose Adderall, extensive bloodwork, and a new coaching program with Justin King that targets mobility, range of motion, and micronutrient‑dense nutrition. The vlog also covers Alphalete’s upcoming 10‑year rebrand, a charity clothing drop for fire‑affected families, and personal milestones (Rob’s upcoming wedding, Christian’s impending baby). Throughout, the hosts discuss nutrition philosophies, sleep importance, and the work ethic required to sustain elite fitness and business growth.

What is going on, you guys? Welcome to today's Houston vlog, full day in the life. Just woke up in the hotel there. Don't worry, I'm gonna make my bed now. Gonna go down to breakfast. I've been having like the same thing every morning. It's actually pretty decent, just like a ton of fruit, fill up on that, especially a lot of like melon, watermelon, high volume, stop me overeating, which I often do in America. And then I'm just gonna do a plate of egg whites. I got a big leg day with Christian in a couple of hours at midday at around 12. It's just about 8 AM now, so I'll probably eat a little bit more today as I have a bit of time to digest, and I know it's going to be a big workout. He's following this like crazy routine at the moment that I'm excited to try. Then I got a little bit of admin work during the day, hang around Alphalete, and then we have a photo shoot for Alphalete, the clothing, at like midnight tonight. So it's a nighttime shoot when the gym is closed, so it's going to look really cool. Like, we have to wait till the gym is empty, going to be smoke machines and everything, I'm gonna look like a rock star. So either way, we are in Houston and life is good.
Also, check these views.
Usually when I stay in this hotel, I am looking out the other way. This is a pretty, pretty cool view. All right, so let's get the day started, go down and eat some breakfast. All right guys, so meal 1 of the day is what I'm just gonna have every day because breakfast is included. We have egg whites with spinach, peppers, mushrooms, and then just a massive plate of fruit, some black coffee, and some ice cold water. So this is going to be me every day pretty much. I'd recommend like the egg whites is pretty small and probably like maybe 25 grams of protein there, then obviously all just carbs here. But a pretty solid breakfast, pretty high volume. And then I'm also going to have this yogurt later as well. There we go. All right guys, so we made it to Alf Land. Always get hyped up walking in those doors. So we're going to go up to Christian's office, see what he's up to, and then initiate this weird leg day. Got to speak to the vlog, right?
What's up, vlog?
Christian, tell the people what you do.
So I'm the alpha manager, so I get to manage all these influencers, which is a really good thing. So excited, man. Like, it's such a, such a unique job. Yeah, man.
So he's the real boss. Pretty much. We're just walking down. Oh, I can't reveal the new logo. It's on the walls. So we're going to, we're going to teleport to Christian's office now. All right.
Hey guys, for the vlog, we're starting off this workout with 3 minutes on the TacMat. I don't know the scientific terms, but this is supposed to help. It's really spiky and it hurts like hell. So it's supposed to help you open up your, uh, I don't know, something about the sensors in your feet.
So you put your full pressure on it?
Full pressure, but I'm not gonna like— you'll see me probably bend over and kind of like alleviate some. Yeah, it's pretty intense. I kind of like shift the weight, stretch the toes, but just really trying to get all the surface area on the feet, like, tapped.
Have you seen grounding?
Yeah, I'm supposed to do that every morning.
I'm not there yet.
Yeah, there's nowhere to ground here. Out there, the house is massive. Does turf count?
Yeah, I don't know if it does, man. I've seen grounding a lot, especially on Twitter. Like, I follow a lot of esoteric health accounts, and I'm not sure if it's like fully legit, the evidence behind it, but apparently it's very legit. Okay, is it? Okay. I've been doing a lot in Marbella, you know, going to the beach, and I'm like, am I just feeling good because I'm at the beach in the sun, or is it actually connecting to Earth?
Rob has naturally been doing all the healthy shit for his whole life. Yeah, just like being who he is, just, just living that anabolic lifestyle. God, we love this.
Butt fetish. All right, I'm raw dogging it, right?
Uh, all right, in 3 minutes.
Okay. It feels good. It's kind of like an electric— yeah, feeling.
Maybe at first.
Yeah. Oh no, I like it.
On your feet, but that's the little spikes, the hobbit feet. Yeah, I like it.
Move around a little bit. Yeah, it feels like electric, kind of wakes you up, right? Yeah. And I've seen people do lie on this as well.
Yeah, it came with like— but he just told me to do the standing.
So this is part— this is where the warm-up begins. Then what's next?
Yeah, it all starts here, and then we go downstairs to— we can go gym 1.5.
Run me through your split.
Split right now is upper, lower, off, upper, lower, off, off. So only 4 workout days. So right now I do have 7 cardio sessions a week, 5 of them low intensity, so 25 minutes of just a low pace. 2 days a week I'm doing high high-intensity training, um, like cardio training. So it's all-out sprints and that type of more athletic style training. So every day I'm doing something. My food is super low, I'm trying to lean down. The training changes every 2 to 3 weeks. So I finished the first phase, this is my final week of phase 2. So it's nice because by the third time I'm doing like this workout, I have a much better groove with it than I do the first week. The first week I'm normally just like on the app like trying to watch the videos and like understand what I'm supposed to do, but Now I have a pretty good idea, so this workout should be pretty seamless, uh, and I get to just be sure for the 2 or 3 weeks I'm following like that program that I am adding weight every week, so I'm progressing. So it should be pretty simple, but this— it's, it's tough, but it's simple. It's just the warm-up.
There we go. And so what are we doing here?
Here we're gonna go this leg, left leg is going to be— your hip is staying on the pole. You're gonna grab with both arms, you're gonna bring this leg up to my leg right here, you're gonna go out here, you're gonna push the heel back and out and stretch and reach it while keeping your hip touching. Far, far, far, far, far. Slowly bring it down. That's half of the rep. You're gonna go back out. Rotate, rotate, rotate. That's one. Oh man, we have 3 reps on both legs, and then we're gonna do something similar for the shoulders.
All right, let's go. Bring it. I was like, what?
Touching the pole. Keep your body body pretty much like straight.
Yeah, yeah.
And slowly out. Point this out, take the heel back and up. Oh, and reach it like—
oh no, like I keep coming off here.
And then back down. No, you want it like way back, like— yeah, your heel to the back wall. And then bring it down. And then back out, or back, back. Rotate it here.
That's one.
And we go down and start Rep 2.
Like, I've never done that movement in my life.
Reaching, reaching, and once you get to here, you twist your hand out, and then the thumb, you want to pretend like he's trying to touch the back wall. Reaching, reaching, reaching, and then you reach down and then back, and then you turn the hand back around and back down.
Super. We're like doing like Ballet, taekwondo.
We keep this all tight and you want to reach as hard as you can.
Alright.
Alright, so left arm ready and reach, reach, reach, reach. Twist the hand. Reach back, thumb to the back wall. Down. And then reach down and back. Supinate, arm up. Oh, that's one. Oh my God, got three. Shoes off, and then it's gonna be down back, backhand, 5, 6. All the toes up off the floor. Okay, one leg back. Really, you should try to keep it off the ground. And then it's going to be hands on hip and 20 reps of a hinge. So you're literally just like, like Wait, what?
All, all toes off the ground? Yeah. I'm so— my balance. What's going on, guys? Welcome back to the channel. Today we are hitting a leg day with the Guz, designed by his coach Justin King, who's also Seabum's coach. So now we are basically. Sebum. This workout is all about maximizing hypertrophy with a big emphasis on tempo, eccentric control, and some strategic tension. Let's break it down. I've never done a workout quite like this. So we start off with pendulum squats, which are already a quad dominant exercise because of the fixed arc of motion, but we added 3 pauses during the eccentric. Yes, 3. Now some people say that spending more time under tension during the eccentric can lead to greater muscle growth due to the increased mechanical stress. And if pain is anything to then that is certainly true. We were in bits. We kept the reps high at 15% if I recall correctly, and by the third pause, your quads are just screaming. This is where you really have to focus on bracing your core and fighting to not just fall straight to the bottom. Next, we paired the squats with lying hamstring curls using the same principle— iso holds during the eccentric. Hamstrings respond super well to lengthened range loading, so slowing down that phase increases the stretch under load and just feels amazing. So by supersetting these with pendulum squats, you're opposing muscle groups while keeping the intensity high. So honestly, you could just call it a day here and it would be a pretty tough workout. Then we went on to dumbbell split squats, but not just any split squats. We did these with a diagonal style movement, so we focus on finishing with the knee over the toe. So with the diagonal movement, you focus on not just going up and down but also forward and back, if you get me. This gives you a massive stretch and even lengthens is the range of motion. So we paired these with reverse hypers, which are perfect for hitting the glutes and hamstrings while decompressing the spine. A nice addition, especially after some heavy exercises like the pendulum squats. We finished with a superset of calf raises and dragon flags. For the calves, the focus was on achieving a full range of motion, stretching at the bottom, squeezing at the top. And remember, calves are often neglected because people rush through the reps. They bounce up and down but slowing it down can really make a huge difference. And then for the abs, the dragon flags. They are one of the most challenging core exercises out there, bar none. They demand control of your entire body. My abs were in pain for days after doing these, but a good kind of pain. So that wraps up the workout. The main takeaway here is the focus on tempo and controlled eccentric movements, and not just rushing through your workouts, which is something I definitely do from time to time. Onwards with the video. Good work here.
Good work, AKK. For that took like 2 and a half hours. It did essentially start at 2 hours.
I was hinking during that. Like, when we got to the last part, I was like, I was lagging. Yeah, I was getting like hungry.
Normally never lag.
Exactly. And I'm like, this is the type of training session where like intra-workout carbs or like a pre-workout meal, because usually I don't even eat much before training. But I'm like, that was, that was a long session.
Yeah, it was long.
Yeah. So here, run us through, uh, why you started this plan, uh, what you're doing with your health, and like, what was the breaking point of changing everything up?
So after my last show in 2023 My body kind of obviously blew up. I gained almost 50 pounds pretty quickly after a 24-week-long prep. My gut for pretty much the whole year of 2024 has been super bad, inconsistent, just not good. My cortisol has been shot. I feel— also keep in mind, for the last X amount of years I've been on Adderall, high doses of Adderall.
Yeah.
So now going cold turkey on that in 2024, that was my first full calendar year off. So that plus 2 shows plus crazy dieting, there's been— I've just been feeling pretty off. So when I got approached by Justin King, who's now my coach, yeah, we did this extensive bloodwork panel. It was like 8 vials. It was a lot, maybe 16 vials, I think, of blood. But it was like we tested for so many different biomarkers. And he has a team of doctors on his team that pretty much like like I'm taking a huge amount of supplementation to get my blood work steady. So with, you know, AM, PM, evening supplements, and pretty much the whole thing is he came in town, did an assessment on me. We did like probably 2 whole days of assessing.
Yeah.
And he found all my weak points. He found where I'm like lacking range of motion and all these things. So he's pretty much programming my training specific in different blocks to improve one, improve range of motion, because with improved range of motion comes improved improved hypertrophy, improved depth, improved pain-free. So just like, it's been a lot for me to kind of hone it back and like focus on those things. I hate doing that mobility and the warm-up and the dynamic stuff, but it's not like I'm trying to be an athlete or anything, but doing that training is just gonna accelerate me into my, my goal. So one, get healthier, feel better, have more consistent energy. And 2, physique goals. Yeah. And 3, get shredded and stuff. And then 3 would be just being the— feeling the best I have.
Nice. I'm hoping it works.
I'm only on week 4.
Yeah, but you're looking better already. And what was like your highest weight? What are you looking to like go down to?
Lowest or highest weight? 232 pounds.
What the fuck? Crazy, right?
Seabomb! 232. And then now I woke up 197.1 this morning. I would like to kind of live around the 190 mark.
Yeah.
And just sort of— I want to get there, maintain it, and get my metabolism back up. So my metabolism is pretty slow right now. So we're kind of digging down. I want to get to about a 10% body fat, maybe a little bit under, and then hopefully build metabolism up from there and see what I want to do from there. Nice. And I think the years of intense bulking—
oh, I don't even think like I think those super bro science, the intense books, like especially if you're in our— in your 30s like us, I don't think there is building any, any additional muscle.
I don't ever want to lose my visible abs again. There's no reason to. And it'll be a good test for me to like really control myself moving forward, just live a better, healthier lifestyle, um, instead of all this like up and down which I've always done.
Yeah, like you went to serious extremes in terms of work and everything. What do you think was like the, the biggest factor that caused you having a bit of a burnout? Like probably the sleep or—
sleep, okay.
Yes, do the sleep routine then, bro.
I slept every day. I have great sleep scores most days. Yeah, I think the sleep was the biggest contributing factor when I look back. That, and then I would say, yeah, I've always cared about macros, um, but now just really being more intent, just like every meal I'm doing has a different protein source. And this is all kind of for like a phase so I can clean everything up in my gut. Um, having a probiotics, just really trying to get to find out what I respond well to and stuff because I've always just done macros. So yeah, just trying to get more micronutrient-dense meals and kind of just trusting the process. It's interesting because like I consider myself to know a lot about fitness.
Yeah.
But what I'm learning is there's like layers. So it's like layer 1, protein, higher calories, gain weight, lower calories, lose weight. Level 2 is like macro breakdown with like fiber goals and stuff. Level 3 is specific types of food and how you individually respond to them. Level 4, then you start messing with the timing of all those meals. And then like your sodium is— it's all kind of just like different levels of extremes. I'm trying to like learn the levels past the baseline bulk shred.
One thing I've said it on like a recent podcast is Christian is— I'm not even just saying this— he's the hardest working person that I've encountered heard in real life. Like, there was— I'm serious. Yeah, there was a stage there. I was staying in your house. I'll never forget this. This is like— this is kind of what it takes to get to the level that someone like Christian's at. I was staying in Christian's house and I was sleeping on your couch. Didn't want to get a hotel. I was like, Chris, guys, say your couch. So I was sleeping on your couch and I woke up, I heard something, and it was like 3 AM, and you were just with the hood up at your kitchen table just like just plugging away on the laptop. And I was like, I really just saw it like firsthand. And then like I kind of drifted back off to sleep, then I woke up like 4 hours later and you're still there. There was this stage there where you were just working just so hard. And obviously it has bad effects as well, but sometimes that's just what it takes.
Yeah, I don't regret anything. I think that some phases you may need to you know, different phases of your life are for different things. And I, you know, sure, I wish I was super paying attention to all these things in my 20s, but at the same time, sometimes you got to push and pull. So set my shit up, put the work in, and then now with that under my belt, now I'm finding ways where I won't have to do that again. And now I know my limits of like where I'm gonna let myself push myself to. Yeah, but, uh, No, I appreciate that, man.
Nice. I'm saying I will never forget that. It's like, you know, when it's like a core memory, you know?
I feel like that, like, I even this type of training in this program, like, I'm literally like, I'm, I'm putting more effort into my fitness right now. Like, it's like I'm on competition prep but more, but not, yeah, but it's more effort. So I think I just like active goals. Yeah. And if I'm just in the gym kind of like, and if I don't have a specific goal, then I'm not really I feel kind of lost.
Yeah, okay, I'm the same. Like, I always like— sometimes I like a bit of time off or something, like when you lose routine a little bit, because you have that goal of like getting back onto it. And like right now after my wedding, I'd be like super motivated. Yeah, you know, just to be, be in my peak shape.
Well, the baby coming.
Yeah, I know. I'm actually training and dieting as hard in like a healthy way and sleeping as much as possible because I know in soon. I'm— it's gonna take it.
I already taste like 2 months and then they start— yeah, yeah, going off.
I think I'll be all right. But so in terms of goals, I'm always talking about Alphalete on this channel. I wear it every single day. Now we're with the big boss right here. So what is the goals with Alphalete for this year? Because you just change things up a little bit internally, as we were talking about.
Yeah, the goal this year, which you'll see— this is also another exclusive we're hearing year. That's how it's 10-year. We rebrand, and the rebrand's going to consist of a lot, um, that's going to happen mid-year. But it is our 10th year in business. We've been through a ton of change in the last 18 months, specifically internally with the athlete, with everything as a whole. And really, we kind of had to have— I heard from somebody, like, if you're in business for 10 years around year 8 to 10, almost every company has to reinvent themselves. Yeah. And I think the last 2 years have almost felt like a little bit of a lull to where you're like trying to find where we are going to be in this new space moving forward. Um, and I know where that's going to be now. I feel very clear on it. So now it's just getting all of us together and like getting everybody on the same page, getting the content, getting the brand out in front again, and getting the men's range specifically back to what it used to be— athletic wear for everyone that wants to become better, right, and feel better. So, um, yeah, I'm super— I feel everyone feels more aligned upstairs than we ever have, and I think it's going to show in 2025, 2026. Nice.
And guys, comment down below what styles that you want to see coming this year. Personally, I love— this is my favorite stuff. Yeah, like the athletic stuff, the tight, the fitted stuff. Like, for me, this is—
but then when you go to Alphaland, you see so many graphics and lifestyle, and honestly, it kind of influenced me a little bit over the last 2 years, I think a bit too much. And my goal is to pretty much go like 80% active, 20% lifestyle moving forward. So active isn't tight-fitted athletic, like the back to the OG kind of thing. And then 20%, we can kind of mess around with some like more different stuff. But it's gonna take probably 6 months to really start seeing the product change. Um, yeah, this is a year— by the end of this 2025, you will see a whole different Excited, and I'm gonna be here a lot.
I'm already here like next month. Stephanie said she gave me the itinerary for the retreat. Oh, whatever. I think it was moved a little bit, uh, the next retreat with the old athletes.
Okay, that's a rebrand.
Okay, okay, let's see.
Okay, nice. I need to go home, prep my food. Yeah, but mouth eats. And we're gonna meet back up tonight.
Yeah, shoot tonight, 10 AM, 10 PM, 10 PM in gym 1, gym 2, I don't know.
I'll check.
I'll check it out. All right guys, see you there.
Peace.
All right guys, so we finished the workout. We are just leaving the gym now. And tell us what is going on right here.
Yeah, so we are getting some stuff, some outfits from Alphalete to send to all the families that have been devastated by those fires in LA.
What a nice thing to do. And there's a lot going out as well, and that's why I'm so proud to rock with this brand. That is unbelievable. All right, so we are in downtown Sugar Land, or Sugar Land Town Union Square. Here's the big monument there. But I am just gonna go and search for some food. So I got a big shoot tomorrow. I'm feeling something kind of like low carb, like maybe like a big salad or something, just a load of meat. As you know, I want to look nice and lean and dry tomorrow. There's a really good salad place, I think it's called Salata. It is just around here. So feeling that, I got Whole Foods yesterday. I can't get Whole Foods every day. I think I'll get Whole Foods tomorrow and Salata tonight. So there it is right there, Salata. And then see, the tough thing about Texas is it's so hard get your steps in. Like, there's motorways and traffic lights everywhere. So I'm gonna eat that and then maybe just like do a few laps of this place. But either way, just happy to be here. Let's go in search for a ton of meat and vegetables. All right, so massive salad bowl for dinner. Like, that is, that is huge. You want to be huge for $32. It's crazy. Doing that, little Diet Coke as well, some hot sauce, and then we're gonna stroll around Sugar Land. And that's a day. I love eating on my own, by the way. I'm gonna eat this now, have a little podcast time, and just do me. Just zone out a little bit. Chill night on my own in here in Salado. Love it.
