What's up everyone, welcome to today's video. Now I've got a very special guest in Dublin City, Ireland, and it's also cool that we're starting off a video on Basterds Walk. Very iconic, right? But anyways, right, without further ado, it is one of the OGs in the YouTube fitness game, someone that I've followed for so long. It is the big man, Mr. Lex Griffin.
Hello, Ireland! Oh, the worst intro I think I've ever done.
It was all right, do your best Irish accent. All right, you ready?
No, super racist.
And imagine I'm on a cereal box front. Hello there now, we're coming down to a little bit of Ireland with a little bit of Global Eastern. I'll be chasing the gold from Little Goblins. They're not Little Goblins, they're called something else, but I don't know what they're called. Anyway, they're always after me lucky charms.
They love that, they absolutely love that. But guys, if you want to hear some more terrible Irish accents, go over, subscribe to Lex. He's in the description box. And we were actually just talking about how the whole YouTube scene, we don't do enough collabs anymore, you know. Uh, you know, everyone's always trying to work with brands or reach out to brands, but rarely do we—
it's not where we started, you know.
So rarely do we reach out to other YouTubers anymore. So I think it's just brilliant to be doing this collab. So today we're gonna get some epic food.
Witnessing the start of the fresh collabs again.
Yes, yeah, we're starting a trend.
Hashtag fuck the algorithm.
Yeah, but so today you're gonna be in for some epic food that we're gonna get right now, and then we're gonna go for an awesome training session. I'm gonna ask, uh, Lex some cool questions afterwards. So like, subscribe, let's get into it. Smash it. You want to see what happiness looks like? Okay, this is it right here. It's Rob Lipsett with 2 stacks of chocolate pancakes. Right, get on And the coffee's arrived as well. That is unbelievable. Thank you so much, really appreciate it. All right, that's the oat milk. All right, let's eat. There you go. That's how you know it's a good meal. It's like, yeah, exactly.
Listen, I do not believe— I don't even— I think you lied when you told me it was a protein pancake. Yeah, you lied when you told me it was healthy, and I believed the lies happily. I'll do it again.
They were IHOP pancakes.
I was looking at them already.
This is what they did. They made pancakes and they tailed on it nuts on it and they got a protein whey and they went— Yeah!
They saltbated.
Protein pancakes.
Yeah, there you go. A gram of protein.
But this doesn't matter. Before you're training, you need fats and you need carbs, so enjoy your food before you're training. If you want something a little bit naughty, that's when you put it in because your body's literally going to go— Hey!
So, we came into Raw and we literally have Lex's playlist. On the speakers. Yeah, yeah, but it truly wasn't though. Yeah, yeah, that's crazy. Yeah, best gym in the world, obviously.
Why not represent where we're training? And she's gonna make this standard muscle tea into a muscle porn tea. If in doubt, bring in the Laney.
Yeah, if in doubt, rip the sleeves off.
Because this is kind of shitty scissors. If you have a better scissors, you can kind of go But to get it even, I found the best way to do it is you do one side and then you match it up. So we're going for the drop sleeve to get, you know, get the obliques in and everything.
All right, yeah, that's it. Pancakes.
Yeah, we need as much space as possible.
So we got the drop, the drop sides to show a bit of side boob. And, uh, we're trying to optimize the muscle. Yeah, so I'm going to cut that side off. Match it up. Then we're going to go for the front, take the top off to get some boobies at the top as well.
Oh, genius.
Here as well.
How'd you make it even each side?
Now you just fold it over.
Magic.
It's like a Blue Peter tutorial.
That is quite clever. I would chop each side independently.
This is just going to be the best video ever. It's got it all. Oh man, smashed it. You're part of the Raw family now.
Boom.
Right. Smash it, right, let's go.
So in light of bringing back the old school collab, we're going to bring back the old school Body Power theories of get off your nuts on pre-workout straight to the dome. This is what you guys didn't realize 4 years ago. The reason we were so hyper and energetic and vascular is because we had about 12 grams of pre-workout. I saw your face when you did this. I'm not very ready for it.
I know, go on.
Tricky's water first. It's kinda nice. Woo! Yeah.
All right, so you guys always see me training in Raw Gym Sandiford. There is also Raw Gym City Centre. Mate, I'm trying to film a clip! Goddammit, Lex! Upstairs, the office just got completely redone and it looks badass. Like, Lex, he's gonna be— he's fully employed now. He's gonna be here dancing 7 days a week. Pretty good. But so this is kind of like a TRX studio section. Then if you come over here, you can see the entire gym. So I love switching it up between the two gyms. Gyms, uh, you know, it stops things from getting a little bit repetitive. So yeah, this was the first gym I ever joined, um, so it's great to just see it like evolve over the years. But now me and Lex are gonna get some sexy pictures now for the Instagram. Okay, we going?
Yeah.
Okay, so, uh, you know I like to get other people's opinions on this channel. I like to give you guys as much information as possible. So Lex, I'm going to ask you a couple questions, okay? Now one, I want to just give The people are training tip, it can be about anything, form, injury prevention, you know, whatever you want. So just throw something out there.
Major thing, injury prevention, scapular engagement, biggest one. If you can learn to just sit with your scapula engaged without being tense, that's going to suit you through, that's going to sort you out through so many exercises. So a lot of people end up to be pronated, which means shoulders are a bit rounded forward. We have this tendency with nature of being on computers and phones of being this all the time. So what you need to be thinking about is— it's a really simple way of doing it. If we stood like this, real simple way of fixing it: put your hands on your chest. You see how it sets my shoulders back? So I go from this to immediately puts my shoulders back. Then let your arms drop. Bang. Now I'm in position. I'm not like this, I'm just nicely here. And if you hold this through everything— so lat pulldown, chest pressing, squats, rows, all this— if you maintain that posture and stabilize it, that's going to prevent tons of shoulder injuries, back rounding, lower back issues, and just generally day to day. Catch yourself in the car, sit with those shoulders back and bring your chin in. Yeah, that's honestly— if you set that posture, what it's going to do is it's going to engage the entire rear chain all the time, and it's going to strengthen, strengthen throughout the day, all the way through from sitting in your chair at work back into the gym. And you'll have less injuries, better contractions, and more longevity. And this is all about time. Little things over a long period of time make big results for sure.
And I think, you know, people see us and they think, yo, Oh, we're always in the gym, we're always moving, and you know, we're at our desk editing for hours, we're driving, we're on planes, you know. So we need to keep this stuff in mind, you know. It's kind of like a glorified desk job. It kind of is, to be honest.
Well, sometimes we move less than you do.
Yeah, exactly. Yeah, yeah.
8 hours, 10 hours like this, and then we go to the gym for 2 hours. That's really not that much.
Do we even fitness? So great tip there. And then, so the next thing I want to know, your kind of nutrition philosophy? What type of diet do you follow?
I— okay, so I didn't count macros for about the last 12 months and suffered for it. Like, my physique did go downhill.
Yeah.
So I ate healthily, made smart choices, was eating 3, 4 times a day, but because I wasn't counting, I wasn't consistent. Because I wasn't consistent, body started to fluctuate. Yeah. So I've been back counting macros 6 weeks now, and immediately changes are immediate. Literally within the first week there was a noticeable change, and within 3 weeks I look like I've been doing a completely different training program and nothing had changed but consistency and diet. So I follow macros, protein, carbs, fats. Um, I to try and make more whole food choices and simplistic. Um, and whichever breakdown works for you, don't be too afraid. Like, if you like the carbs, try the carbs. If you like the fats, try the fats. There's no wrong way of doing it. Um, and you have to try that, but give everything at least 10 to 12 weeks. Yeah, don't give it 3 and go, not working, it's not long enough.
Exactly. Yeah, it's like you, you can't measure that, you know. Yeah, for sure.
I'd say 40/40/20 split— 40% protein, 40% carbs, 20% fat— or 40/30/30.
Yeah, give it a play.
But I'm actually going to try 40% protein, 20% carbs, 40% fat.
Nice.
In my next prep and see how I feel.
Yeah, yeah, I've got a video on keto, my opinions, pros and cons, coming up, so stay tuned for that this week. And then so lastly, okay, I want to ask you, what are your tips on growing in the fitness industry and getting sponsored and, you know, growing your social media?
Oh yes, a big question.
Yeah, yeah. So try like, you know, kind of some basics, because we could talk about that for 2 hours.
Be on it.
Yeah.
I get so many people saying, I'm gonna start. Going to start. Start, get it going, get it moving, because if you're not on it, then nothing can happen. So that's the first thing, is take the steps.
It's so full-time.
Yeah, yeah, it is, it is. It's a pain in the ass. Yeah, you gotta be on everything, you gotta be on every day, you gotta be all the time. Don't overpost, don't try and be too dramatic. Don't post a selfie in a toilet with a urinal behind you with this huge thing about the depth of life and its meaning and how to love others. There's a urinal in the background, dude, that looks like it needs a good clean.
It's like you take a picture like that and post a Gandhi quote.
Yeah, don't do that shit. Be real. Just push it out in there that's in your head. I guarantee there's dumb little things that you think of that you think you're only thinking of. Thousands of other people thinking the same thing. And for other people to hear other people feel the same way and think the same way, it makes them feel better.
Yeah.
And that will 100% set you on the right path to just do anything. Don't do it for any other reason than, um, motivation, that you love doing it and that you like helping others. Like, if you don't— if you're not doing it for that reason you can't do it for a long period of time.
Yeah, yeah, like people will be able to tell immediately if you're actually enjoying it. Like, we had a blast, mate. Yeah, we had a blast. Like, we had the best day ever.
Like, we ate all the way through the day. Was, why aren't we doing this more?
Yeah, yeah.
Why are we always behind some £50,000 camera doing a slow-mo?
Oh, I know.
No, it's just more fun getting in there shouting at each other. Yeah, one of them, you only got 6 reps and you're crying. Yeah, that's the fun. Exactly what we originally started doing, and the love of this. Yeah, so I want to do this more. Yeah, and we kind of made a promise to fuck the algorithm. Let's get back to you.
Yeah, exactly.
Yeah, I'm down if you're down.
I am down, bro. Smash it.
More collabs, more times.
But I think one person you need to talk to about food ideas is holding the little camera, the girl behind the camera, whose channel will also be linked in the description box.
Hi guys.
So I owe all my, all the meal ideas and everything you see on Insta stories or anything like that that are clever, it's all her, all her. So, check it out.
I'll happily take full credit for it as well.
She has a cooking channel, so check that one out. It really does help, especially for guys because we suck. She makes it simple and it's easy to do, but it's enjoyable. But volumizing, this is a big one. So if you're dieting, her volumizing tips right now will help. Go!
I've got my 1-6 tips. I love vegetables. They are low in carbs. Pimp them up, make them taste amazing. Things like parmesan, it's like cheese but it's low in fat and you can and just put a little on, it adds loads of flavor. Seasoning, go with it. Add loads of salt and pepper and garlic and onions and yumminess.
Spiralizing.
Oh, spiralizing your vegetables. You use butternut squash instead of like potatoes, courgettes, things like that. Just be inventive. And I think the more color on your plate, the better it's gonna taste.
There you go. Make your diet fun. Boom, boom, boom, boom.
Sweet.
This is gonna be sick. Right, so epic gym session and now epic eats. There we go. Wow, the burnt beans look really good. Okay, so me and Lex went for the meat platter, right?
Oh, look at that!
I'm so happy!
Oh my God, I didn't expect it to be this big.
Yeah, yeah, this is going to be a feed, right? Me and Lex, we should do a 10,000 calorie— no, 30,000 calorie challenge. What would you say? So 30,000 calories tag team challenge.
So like, when one of us fails, the tag doesn't want it. Yeah, he's going, tag back in. I think—
yeah, I'm like, Lex, I'm going in.
Tag in, bro. As long as I can lie down. Yeah, I'm in. Yeah, yeah.
Yeah, it's like you go and tap out a 10K and I'll come in and finish the 20K.
Let us know, 30,000 calorie tag team challenge, do you want it? Yeah, hell yeah, in the comments.
Yeah, but, uh, so we're just chilling here eating, just talking about video ideas, having a good time. So, right, catch up with you after dinner. All right, self-serve ice cream, as many as you want. This is very dangerous. We're going in. Oh my God, it comes out fast.
Balancing act.
Yo, what's happening, people? So as if this day couldn't get any better, we just realized, right over dinner, we were like, have you seen Deadpool 2? Have you seen Deadpool 2? No, we have not. Let's go see it tonight. I've been looking for someone to go see it with for the whole week, but all my mates in Dublin have seen already, so we were just like, yes, let's book tickets right now. So that's where we're gonna go tonight. I am wearing a distressed Alpha Elite long sleeve with extra fashion holes in it, because I know you're gonna ask where it's from. The link is always in the description box. So we're going to give you a movie review of Deadpool 2, and then we're going to finish up this perfect day. So stay tuned. Deadpool, out of 10?
11.
Yeah, I know, like, not just saying that. Perfect.
10 for the film, 1 extra for the post-credit scenes.
Oh yeah, I was about to say 5, and then you can go. But right, today we had epic food, epic training, and this is not the last time we will be collabing. So right, like the video, catch you in the next one. Keep it real, we're out.
