Yo, what up?
Welcome to today's vlog. Okay, so we got an action-packed day, especially for a Sunday. With Ben, we got the like apparatus laid out on the table, and so I'm doing like a usual little vlog today on my G7X here, but we got some important news. Wow, my hair is doing its own thing today. We need to sort that out. But so we got a bit of news, okay, and we are going to play you an audio clip that explains it better than I could. Hey Rob, can you do me a favor and talk to Ben and ask him to do some video work with you for the next upcoming launches. Love to get like just straight-up content for the Alpha Elite YouTube channel as well as Instagram.
So we are Alpha Elite Euro Vibes now.
We're gonna be creating a lot of content, and it's like, you know, the way like Christian would work with like Javon, Kelvin, he's got a new videographer Lawrence, you know, we're gonna be doing more of that. So today we're actually shooting like an Alpha Elite video, and it's gonna be really cool. It's gonna go up on the Alpha Elite channel, but I'm still gonna be doing my normal vlog today. So we got Wellfest, it's like this seminar talk that I'm I'm speaking at. I was at it yesterday and it's awesome. It's like this fitness festival in the park, lots of food around, and today the weather, it's the hottest day of the year. So we're also going to go to the gym, get outside a little bit, and I've also got a huge meeting around midday that like finally— I don't know if I can tell you about it in this video, but uh, hopefully we'll sort it out.
Either way, sit back, relax, enjoy the vlog, give it a thumbs up.
Let's go!
So we are back with Rob Lipsett cooking in the kitchen.
So this is like a classic meal that I make and that I often recommend is that people go kind of high protein, low carb, moderate fat for their breakfast. And because it obviously stops you from getting hungry in the morning, protein is very satiating, and then you get to save all your carbs for later in the evening before bed. It's something that, uh, there's no magic to it, but it's just something that helps well with hunger and adherence, and it's just something I like to do. Steak and eggs is also delicious too. So I'm gonna have this now and then we're gonna get on with the day. I should definitely mention I recently did an interview for Men's Health, which is just like really cool for me because that's like such an iconic magazine that I even like grew up reading. So the fact that they contacted me for an interview, I was just like, that is so cool. But I'm gonna link it down below and basically I talk through like kind of my nutrition principles, training principles, everything. I'll link it down below. And yeah, the next goal is the COVID of Men's Health. And yes, before anyone comments right Now I'm about that paper plate life. Shout out to Chef Guma, Christian Guzman. He loves a paper plate. Okay, so that is breakfast, and I'm going to get some caffeine in in the form of Nocco as well, and it is just going to be a good day. Finally figured out how to work the sound system, and I swear to God, right, waking up in the morning, playing some epic tunes, like really loud, puts you in a good mood.
I'm so lame. I'm so lame.
It's that time again. It's drone time and it is like the perfect day to fly it as well. It's my landlord over there as well, he's a legend. Yeah, we're just about to stick this up, get some cool scenes for the AlphaD video. Maybe I'll include them in this video too, we shall see. These are the 3 most used vitamins I take, or supplements, whatever you want to call them. So it's fish oils, vitamin D, which is important if you're in a cold country. But today is such a nice day, we're going to be getting plenty of vitamin D. And then this is kind of like a multivitamin. It's just in the form of a green supplement. So I've started taking these recently. This is like the second tub I bought. I really like it just on days where I feel like I didn't get enough vegetables. So discount code and links are always in the description box for Myprotein products. Highly recommend. Okay, so we got to run off this meeting now. And some people were saying like, where are you going to put your office? This table is actually like a perfect working space. It really is. It's massive, there's plenty of room, and that's all I need. Just somewhere to lay out my planner, my laptop, camera equipment, editing stuff. So this is absolutely perfect. It's like a big old round table. Like the round table where the world lea—
What am I saying?
It's time to leave the apartment now. We gotta get to this meeting ASAP. If you see me doing like a ton of outfit changes today, that's because we got like meetings, gym, and then seminar, and just a lot of different things going on today.
So just bear with me. Okay, so update.
What a smashing day, by the way. But so now we are on the way to that meeting I was talking about with my accountant, and I can't give too much away, but it's my accountant and the owner of a company that I may be becoming a part of. Um, so I'll tell you guys, like, I'm dying to tell you, like, I'm dying to tell you, but we really got to just see how this meeting goes first. And sometimes it meant to be there for 12, midday, and so we're gonna do that. Then we're gonna try hit the gym, or we might just hang around Whalefest. We'll see. But either way, my talk isn't on until 4 and 5, so I need to decide, uh, how this goes and then what we're gonna do between those hours. So either way, I'll bring you along. Catch up with you in a bit. Okay, so meeting finished up. That went really well, uh, feeling really good about it. And I will of course fill you guys in on everything in due time. But now we're about to go into Wellfest, and oh my God, like, look at the turnout, look at the weather. And thankfully I'm not speaking for a couple hours, uh, so I can just enjoy it.
And I'm definitely gonna meet, you know, a good few subscribers as well, which is what I love to do. Like, it's still—
the buzz hasn't worn off and people come up and say hello, but like, oh my God, Oh my God, look at this!
This is insane!
We're gonna get some cool shots, have a good time, and I'm gonna get a few mates in as well. Feeding time at the festival! So look what we got here. It is from Khanom. I just played it safe with like some chicken dish and rice. Looks hella good. I'm so hungry, gonna dig into this now, and we're gonna eat this on the grass in the sun. So update, we're getting our açaí bowls into us. I had one of these yesterday, they're so good. They're like, kind of like fro-yo, kind of like ice cream, but they're a bit more nutrient-dense, and there's like a nicer taste of them. They just like taste fresh. So this is Super Chimp açaí bowls, and we're getting it with banana. There we are, look at them gains!
That's from making all those açaí, those açaí gains.
And we're getting some granola and banana on top of that too. Okay, we're making our açaí bowls even better.
We're putting some— what is it?
Nutrily nutritious on them. So how good does that look? That is going to be absolutely delicious. Peanut butter, granola, bananas, açaí. Unreal. It is just after 4 o'clock now. My talk, I'm on stage at 4:30, so I'm just getting like mentally prepared for that. And to top off an action-packed day, I'm in the Sunday Business Post. So we got like meetings and the newspaper, doing doing a talk. It is all go for a Sunday. And but so there I am, the talk is on about how YouTubers, how you're, you know, how Ireland's content creators are evolving online. And it's just basically how having a YouTube channel is like having your own business and like different ways you can monetize it and stuff. So you can have a read of that in Sunday Business Post. So we're gonna chill here now, get ready, and then we're gonna go in and knock out this talk. I'm really excited. I've already met loads of people that said hello to me today. Everyone's super nice and everyone is in such a good mood because of the sun. It's honestly the best day been so far. So I'm really gonna take that energy and put it into this talk. So today was honestly just an action-packed day. It is pretty hectic that me and Ben are both recording separate videos on the same day. So what you're seeing here is some cinematic shots for the Alpha Lead video on his camera, the Sony A7, and then I'm going to include some actual informational clips from my talk on my vlogging camera. If you want to skip ahead, that's no problem, as I understand the audio and visual is not great, but it's all we I had access to, and the info is still there. My talk was about an hour long, so I'm just including a few snippets here and there. Either way, I hope you're enjoying this vlog. Don't forget to leave it a thumbs up, and I'll see you in the next clip.
And I've like built this amazing community of people that I meet not only online but today as well. And you know, every time I meet a subscriber, it's like meeting a friend. It's honestly like the best feeling ever, and it's super, super cool. So So that's basically who I am. That's how I got into the gym. That's how I started out in the fitness industry and made a career from it. And that's why I'm speaking to you up on this stage. Some of you are probably like, "Who the hell is this guy? Why am I listening to him?" But, so that is why. And then so we're gonna go through some like common typical myths of what I hear very often. And then we're going to go into a Q&A. So please feel comfortable, put up your hand. And if there's something that you really wanted to know for a while, just say it. Thing as a bad question. I always say, like, imagine I went into a mechanic and asked a silly question about a car. I don't know anything about the engine of a car, so I shouldn't be afraid to ask. It's the same with training and nutrition. It's not your fault if you don't know every single thing. So there's no such thing as a bad question. I really hate when people, like, are so judgmental about that. It's like, "Oh, how do you not know this?" It's like, it's such a bad way of teaching. So some of the most common common things I see, and that especially with online clients that come to me, is— this is in no particular order— but a lot of people say to me, you know, I'm eating super, super clean or super, super well, and they have no idea how much they're actually taking in. So one of the most common things is they— I'm like, okay, you know, give me a typical look at your diet, and they list out like what their meals look like, and they're like, they sound really healthy. They're and they're like, "This morning I had 3 whole eggs with 2 avocados and, you know, some rye bread drizzled in olive oil." And I'm like, "That sounds delicious and it sounds very nutrient-dense, but it's probably about 1,500 calories in that single meal." So fat loss is really dictated by energy balance, being how much energy you expend through exercise or how much energy you take in via calories. A calorie is literally a unit of energy. So a lot of time people are training loads and they're eating all these very healthy foods, which I'm all for. I'm a fully believer in sticking mainly to whole foods and having a nutrient-dense diet. But oftentimes how much you eat is gonna be more of a dictator in your results than what you eat. So some of my favorite foods, such as sweet potatoes, like I absolutely love sweet potatoes. I could eat them all day. But just because they're viewed as a healthy food doesn't mean that they don't contain calories or they don't contain any carbohydrates. And so a lot of people are really confusing themselves. Like, I got a comment on one of my YouTube videos like, "Rob, does it matter if I eat a protein bar or have a protein shake with water after my workout?" And I'm like, don't worry about that. And instead, why don't you put that energy that you're really focusing on, you know, wondering what you're taking in, the entire day. So your total calorie and macronutrient intake is really going to be a lot more important than what you eat and when you eat. So I'm not saying that that doesn't matter, but get the basics right, get the principles put in place before you start worrying about any of the complicated stuff. And that happens to a lot of people. They get so obsessed with the gym that they actually have no life outside the gym. And it's like, nice body, but what can you do with it? So yeah, great question.
Yeah, when you were starting off on social media, how did you get over the point of not caring what others thought?
Yeah, that's like not caring what other people think. That is just like, it's such a hard thing to do, and it's such like, you really, it takes a while to get there. I mean, that's literally like, never mind social media, but like in anything you should do in life, you should really stop caring so much what other people think. And when I first started out on social media, I cared so much what other people think. When I put my Facebook page live, I had an anxiety attack. I freaked out. I was like, people are gonna make fun of me, people are gonna slag me, people are gonna think, oh, this guy thinks he's so cool because he's got a Facebook page. I literally thought every bad thing in the world, but of course no one, no one even cared. Like, you gotta think, like, no one actually cares that much. So just do your own thing and forget about so much what other people think. And I know that's But that's really, it's easier said than done. So what I recommend doing is start off small and every day doing something that scares you. That's what I'm a big believer in. This talk's scaring me right now. I'm literally just like, oh Jesus. But no, now I'm having fun. Like when I went up, I was like, oh God, here we go. But now I'm having fun. So every day you should do something. Yeah, hey Brendan, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, exactly, yeah. We're all having fun. That's what life's about, you know. But anyways, so every day do something that scares you a little bit and then slowly over time you're gonna build up, you're gonna build up And you're gonna realize that, you know, the world isn't out to kill you, you know. And it's like people don't care that much. So just do your own thing, put yourself up, and let people do their thing. And if someone actually has time to schedule time out of their day to look into what you're doing and then hate on it, oh, it's embarrassing. It's literally like, oh my God, you've too much time. Like when I see like an anonymous comment on my profile on YouTube YouTube, I'm like, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, this dude had the time to make a fake profile, log into Google, think of a username, think of— watch my whole video, think of the comment, and then leave a mean comment. I'm literally just like, lol. So once you realize that, like, people are actually taking time out of your schedule to hate on you, how irrelevant they are, it's just funny. So it all just goes it becomes a bit of a joke. And you're there like, you're there starting out in social media, like social media is fun. Like why do you think there's 2 billion users on Facebook? Because it's fun. And so you're there, if you want to make a living out of social media, you're literally just having fun. So you're here having a great old time and someone's hating on it, irrelevant.
How do you deal with setbacks?
Oh yeah, I actually look at setbacks as like, it's like not a setback, it's like a learning experience. So like, when something goes wrong, you're like, okay, good, I got that, putting that in the journal. I know that doesn't work, so let's do something else. And you often get these people that are like, they're not smart about their setbacks, okay? So they get a setback and they're like, I'm gonna try that again. And it's like, no, okay? You gotta think of Albert Einstein once said, the definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again expecting a different result. So instead of looking at it as a setback, You should look at it as a learning experience and say, okay, that was a great learning experience. You know, I actually like that, maybe feel a different feeling, and I'm gonna learn from that. I'm gonna take what I learned and take what worked and put it into something else. So there, like, I've had so many setbacks and failures. If someone tells you that it's like when you're building a business, building a brand, or even like if you're like trying to diet down and like get into the shape of your life, if they think think that progress is just going to be linear, that's the biggest lie ever. Progress is going to look like this. It's literally going to be like back here and then up here again. Like, it's so like not linear. It's so all over the place. So that's just something you got to just learn to enjoy. Like, just learn to enjoy the experience of setbacks and just being like, wow, that was like absolutely crazy, but I'm going to learn from that.
I'm going to get better.
So you just got to look at them in a positive light. Because looking at them and crying about them is literally gonna set you back even more. Like, what an epic day, and thank you so much for coming out, and you're an awesome crowd.
Okay, whoa, what a crazy day. I'm just like, whoa, jeez, that was mental. My camera is just about to die, so I'm gonna finish this part of the vlog right now. My family actually came to watch me do my talk, and that's the first time they've actually came and seen me do that, so that is an amazing feeling as well. Right now I'm just loving life. Battery is flashing at me, okay, so I gotta go. I'll catch you guys in a bit. Here we go, Protein Oats people, new flavor, Cocoa Cereal, very good, get on it. Who remembers Protein Oats? I used to always make them. Yeah, there is like no mystery here, just combine the protein with the oats and put hot water on top. In the oats, I'm putting in some of this kind of hazelnut cocoa. It's kind of like Nutella, uh, it's from a company called Wildson. Twice the protein, half the sugar, zero palm oil. So, and it tastes really good as well. There's something about oats, uh, before bed that just settles me. It's good times. See, in my old desk, we could only have one laptop, if even. Now we can have— now we've got this guy taking up permanent residence. We, we joked about it in the comments section in the last video, but now it's becoming a reality. Like, he's staying over tonight. He, he invited himself over.
Yeah, I know. Like, it's—
it literally started as a joke and now it's like dead serious. Um, but yeah, so as I was saying, okay, this is going to be my office. Okay, I've decided. But this setup is actually so much better because we can have like— we got 4 people working here with plenty of space for like camera equipment, laptops, you know, a bit of snackage as well going on, a bit of food. So like, yeah, it's just a massive table and it's perfect for a good work environment. Okay, it has been such a long but such a good day. I'm honestly, I'm not joking when I say it was one of the best days of my life. You know, the kind of business meeting, the being in the newspaper, the talk went really well. My family got to see me talk. We just, we're editing the video now and the Athlete video we're making and it's so cool. Everything just went really well today. It was just a good day. And I'll tell you in a couple of weeks what that business meeting was about, but of course, you know, I have to keep it under wraps for the moment, but you guys are gonna love it. And so now it is time to wrap up today's vlog. I hope you all enjoyed it. Leave it a thumbs up if you did. And now tomorrow morning I am heading to pick up my new car, so I'll be vlogging again. So see you guys tomorrow.
Keep it real.
Peace. I'm out here.
