Probably Shouldn't Have Done This

Rob Lipsett spends his first day at the FIBO fitness expo in Cologne, switching between brand booths for Nocco and Myprotein, meeting up with friends, and capturing behind-the-scenes footage. He shares practical tips like staying hydrated and avoiding pre-workout drinks, then returns to his hotel to edit while dealing with spotty Wi-Fi and a run-in with security over drone footage.

I'm looking outside my window, I try to see where my luck goes. I just don't know how it slips out, there must be some kind of plan. Hey, what's up? Good morning, how we all doing? Day 1 of the FIBO I gotta stop saying that. FIBO, it stands for Fitness and Bodybuilding. I was literally saying it like it was going out of fashion and I hadn't a clue what it meant, but it means fitness and bodybuilding. I'm gonna wake up, get myself sorted, get myself dressed. I don't know what I'm wearing today because a little bit of the expo has to be at the Nocco stand and then at Myprotein stand, so I might have to do a little bit of an outfit change. Either way, today's meant to be a busy day. It's Friday, so I'm excited. So give the video a thumbs up, sit back, relax, let's get started. Okay, so one thing I just realized is I actually packed hardly any clothes, but the thing with expos is you go there with like an empty bag and you will come back with a bag full of like supplements, samples, tubs, and gym clothing. So it should be okay. But I'm on the Nocco booth first. Gonna wear some Myprotein over, hopefully get some Nocco gear there, and then I'll have this for later. It's on, unopened as well. This is medium long sleeve. Okay, so packing up my expo bag, and now one thing very important when you're meeting so many people is chewing gum so you got fresh breath, and also ChapStick. You guys are so quick to remind me whenever I've got chapped lips, but I appreciate that. You're just looking out for me. Expo time, let's go! So first thing on the agenda was to get a big bottle of water because I'm telling you, at these expos you can get really dehydrated. Safety first, kids. And so So now I'm going to hop in a taxi and go check out the Cologne Exhibition Center. Yeah, that's where I'm going. Guten Morgen. Morgen. To the Cologne Exhibition Center, please. I love this song. The man. We just went outside and got Ali in. It was a bit of a struggle, to be honest, but we kind of talked our way in. I was like, look, he's my videographer for this weekend. It's legit. And before we go up to the Nocco booth, I just came out to get Ollie. Yes, let's address the elephant in the room. Gymshark make Nocco's clothing, but like, it's no big deal. The boots are like attached and they're affiliated with each other, but we're all friends here. So anyways, let's go inside. I'll show you guys a bit of the expo because sometimes you don't get to go to the expo, but you get to go via my videos. And that's like when I travel to a different country, you guys get to experience that through my videos. So today we're gonna be experiencing the first day of the event. A pretty guy with a halo. It's thumbnail time. Okay, what are you doing? We have to get today's— no, no, no, today's thumbnail for yesterday. Okay, so that's what we're doing. Okay, so we got to like put on our thinking cap right now. We worked out arms, so we could get us flexing, and we need a good like plain background. Cheers, thanks so much Thank you, really appreciate it. Yeah, is that Alfie? Is it? Oh my God, yeah! Okay, so one thing that I always try and do is at expos not live off pre-workout and protein bars, okay? Because that is not good for your digestion, okay? So I always try to look for a meal prep company and like have a good solid square lunch and keep picking at everything to a minimum. So we got a kind of a lowish carb meal. It's like green beans, mushrooms, and ground beef. And that's another thing because I know you're always going to be eating out later on at the team dinners and you know you want to enjoy yourself. So I I'm trying to save some carbs for later in the day. Alright, so even though Nocco want me to wear this, I think I'm just gonna have to put on a bit of Alphalete instead. It just feels right. Yeah, feels better. "I follow you on YouTube." Man, thank you so much. You're gonna be in my YouTube. There you go. Chump! Chump! Right, so we are finishing the day off at the Myprotein booth, and I'm actually like really enjoying vlogging this expo day because sometimes I just get too caught up in expos and actually forget to vlog. But remember to do that today because my boy right here. But so we finished off with Myprotein food, and I often don't really talk about this, but Myprotein has been a company that literally supported me since the very beginning. Like I started off as an affiliate for them and like slowly worked my way up until, you know, I've got a very secure ambassador athlete role. So I know all the staff, the products are so good, they're so reasonably priced, and there's no flashy marketing. So it's just such a solid brand that I'm really proud to be part of. And like I said, been with me since day one. So we're gonna have a good time here, we're gonna meet a few more people, and then we're gonna wrap up today's expo. That is Expo day 1 finished, and today was like a quiet day, Friday, because a lot of people are in work or college, and tomorrow is meant to be the busiest day. But I actually really enjoyed today because I didn't lose my voice from talking to so many people, and I actually got to enjoy the Expo for what it is, like, because it wasn't that busy. I got to kind of walk around a little bit and have some fun, do a bit of networking, meet some new people. So yeah, it was great. I'm back at the hotel now though, so So it's definitely time to chill out for a little bit. I always say this, but when you come out of an expo, you literally feel like you just left a nightclub. It's like loud music, energy drinks, scantily clad women. It's actually literally just like a nightclub. Oh, it is gonna be good to drink something that isn't pre-workout. What are you up to? You're here all 4 days? Yes, yeah, I'm here till like Monday. Yeah, no, it's meant to be— it's meant to be like a serious expo. All right, so that was Christian on the phone. And as some of you may know, Alphalete, the clothing company that I'm endorsed by, sponsored by, they are opening an EU distribution center in the UK. It was actually gonna be in Dublin, but just wasn't meant to be. So that basically means that like shipping and customs is gonna be massively reduced. And we're just talking about the future of the company, travel plans, and things going forward. So yeah, it was a cool phone call and got some big things in the works. Remember all the kind of plain clothes I wear? Like all the lifestyle gear. If you ever see me wearing like a black or white t-shirt, it is from Alphalete. The link is in the description box. Okay, I am putting together— I'm about to upload my first Germany vlog, but we need to get some scenes. So I'm gonna try fly this up around that cathedral. That cathedral is probably like very sacred, so they probably don't want drones flying around it. So I'm gonna try be a little bit discreet about this one. Oh my God, yes! This is definitely like the most crowded place I've ever flown that drone, but like, I couldn't miss up this opportunity to get some shots of that cathedral. It just looks so freaking good. But yeah, some security guy came over to me. He was actually pretty nice. He said some words in German that I didn't understand, but I think he kind of just meant like, yo, If that thing crashes, it's not my fault. Either way, we got the footage. To be fair, I understand why some people think it looks sketch. Like, it looks like I'm doing some serious operation here. Just finishing editing up a vlog. That face you make when someone tells you you can't digest more than 30 grams of protein in a single serving, right? So that's taking its sweet-ass time to render, so I'm gonna wait for it and go for a little walk around the hotel, maybe check out the gym because Yeah, I got a lot of work to do, so I'm not arsed like going to a gym outside the hotel, so it's probably gonna be a hotel workout. Alright, so we're down in the hotel gym just with a few of the Nocco team, and it's actually not too bad. It's got heavy enough weights, it's got a good few machines. Maybe do a little bit of cardio because we are gonna go out tomorrow night and I'd like to make myself a bit of leeway. But yeah, we'll definitely get a session done here. Alright, Friday night. I'm just trying to get Chris to go out and turn up on the streets of Cologne, but he's being a boring bastard. Yeah, talking spreadsheets or something with me. But right, so I'm actually trying to upload a YouTube video now. Again, that is the struggle with traveling. Hotel Wi-Fi is 9 times out of 10, it's shit. But what can you do? That's the problem you gotta face. But so we're gonna head to bed now, and tomorrow is Saturday. It's the busiest day of the expo, so I'm really excited to see the craziness of it all. And then we're also going for a team dinner and night out, so So tomorrow is definitely going to be the best day. I'm going to vlog it all and come out with a killer video. So see you then. Keep it real. I'm out of here. Peace.
