Returning To The Stage: 6 Days Out

Rob Lipsett is six days out from the Oire BBF Spring Classic in Ireland. He's dialing in nutrition with specific shakes and supplements, working on posing with a recent competition winner at Raw Gym, and comparing his physique to previous years. He's late to enter but committed, despite past fears of criticism.

So going for the usual kale shake. Kale, banana, coffee caramel Impact Whey protein powder, quickly becoming one of my favorites. 5 grams of creatine, going for some coconut milk this time, some green tea extract there as well. All kinds of nutrient gains. This is the ultimate summer song. Will Smith, "U Booyah." Sometimes when you're not feeling it, all you gotta do is listen to "Til I Collapse," and then you're feeling it. All right, where the hell are we? We're in the original raw gym where it all began, the one in Portobello. So I'm gonna go in here and hit a session now. I'll tell you why I'm here later on in the video. Alright, so the reason I came down to Raw Gym today was to do a few posing lessons with my man Ben. This is the winner of the last competition that I went in. So this is why, you know, never be a sore loser and always surround yourself with successful people that do well. So he has been kind enough to give me some posing lessons today, and I'm still like on the fence whether or not to enter, but we'll talk about that later in the video. But this is where I'm currently at with the posing. Front pose Please, again, a quarter turn to the right, uh, face the back, please. All right, you could not see a single thing in that other room, uh, you couldn't see a single striation, so I thought I'd do the physique update here. The lighting is better. And this is the current situation. This is how we're sitting. Now, the main thing I learned with Ben is I gotta work on keeping that stomach vacuumed, keeping that stomach tight, pulling in my abs and my obliques, uh, just like what I do here. Hold on. And there. I need to learn how to keep that pose, um, to make my waist appear as small as possible, and then my shoulders and lats wide. Because that is what you are kind of— that's the main criteria for men's physique. It is that V-taper. So that is where we're currently sitting as the cut nears its end. So I walk into my office and look, look how adorable this is, right? Sarah put this on my desk. There's a picture of us last summer. We were at a wedding. And you know your game is top form You can pull a girl taller than you, Niels. Oh yeah, what a pimp. If you can make a girl laugh, you can make her do anything. All right, so you're probably like, Rob, you know, what's going on? What's with the physique update? What's with the posing classes? I ended up entering into that competition that I spoke about the other week, the Oire BBF Spring Classic, which is Ireland's, um, kind of, you know, version of the IFBB. The two of them are like connected. So right Right now, as of today, I'm 6 days out. I literally entered on the final entry date, which was like last Friday or something. And the reason I'm only announcing it now is because, to be completely honest with you, I was a little bit scared. I was kind of like afraid after what happened last year. You know, I didn't even place last year, and just now this year, there's a lot of pressure on me. It's a lose-lose situation. It's like, if I win, people will talk shit, be like, oh, he only won because he's a YouTube channel. Or he shouldn't have won, oh, he didn't deserve it. And then if I don't do well, people will still talk shit. People will be like, oh, haha, look, that guy thinks he's so great, you know, recording all his workouts and he can't even place in a damn competition. But you know what? Like I said on the radio interview the other day, if you don't want to annoy anyone, if you want to avoid criticism, do nothing, say nothing, be nothing. Fuck that. I'm not about that life. And the more I thought about it, I was like, I was like, I don't give a fuck what people have to say. Like, obviously I care what my family say, my friends say, even what you guys say, my supporters. Like, if someone offers me constructive criticism, I'll absolutely take it. If someone even like slags me off in a joking way, like, ah yeah, absolutely, you know, I always make fun of myself. But if some randomer, someone that I don't even know, you know, leaves a blatant hateful comment, why should I care, you know? And that goes for anything, you know. If you want If you want to be successful in any walk of life, you have to not care what some people think. So I said, you know what, life's for living. I'm just going to do it. It'll be a great experience. I remember last year I met so many cool people. I'm probably going to do like a video every day. You know, today's 6 days out, tomorrow 5 days out, the lead up to the show. So yeah, let's see how we go. I'm not going to get like mad into this. Like if I don't do well, that's cool. You know, I still had a good time. Still gave you guys great content. And if I do, if I place or anything, awesome. So like either way, I'm just gonna take it how it is. Also, here is a picture of me last year, 2015, and then 2016. So, you know, I think I've made some improvements and I think I'm a little bit more developed this year. We'll see. So anyways, hope you guys enjoy the coming week. I'll talk about like what I'll be doing this week in terms of training and diet. And everything and the build-up to the show. So should be interesting. Thank you so much for watching. Thank you so much for the support, for being the most awesome subscribers ever. Literally, you are like simple. And, uh, yeah, catch you tomorrow. Keep it real.
