Rob Lipsett On ... The "Dad Bod"

Rob Lipsett responds to the "dad bod" trend, arguing that while fitness matters, women often prefer men who aren't obsessive about diet and appearance. He shares how his girlfriend preferred him after he took a diet break and gained a few pounds, finding his relaxed approach more attractive than his spray-tanned, meticulously tracked version.

What's going on everyone? So I thought I'd weigh in on the whole dad bod phenomenon that's been going on the last couple of weeks. You know, a few YouTubers have done videos on it and I'm just going to give my take. So okay, first of all, the article, if you haven't seen it, I'll link it below. And it's basically saying how females are more attracted to guys with a less muscular physique, guys in worse shape pretty much. And I'm going to get straight to it. I agree and disagree with the article. Let me tell you why. First, I'm gonna start with why I disagree. The pictures this article used and the way they kind of described the ideal male body, so to speak, is straight-up bullshit. You know, the pictures they used, these guys were non-lifters. They were pretty fat. These guys were just slobs. And they say, we like this physique because it shows you go to the gym, but you don't care that much. You don't put in that much effort into yourself. These guys that they use in the pictures, these guys were just slobs. So I don't know. And if you think a girl doesn't appreciate a good body, she doesn't like that, she doesn't like abs on a guy, that's bullshit, okay? Personality and confidence come above that, but having a good body helps tremendously with getting chicks. I'll tell you that myself. Sorry to break it to you, it's the truth. Any girl that says that to you, they are most likely lying. But now, okay, so that's what I disagree with about the article. Those— the way they kind of portrayed it in the pictures they used. What I do agree with is girls are into guys who don't care that much about their appearance. So we know it is human nature that females are attracted to masculinity. You know, that is, that is their genes. That is in their genes, generally speaking, of course. Be that, you know, in your confidence, be that in the way you act, be that in your physicality. Girls are attracted to the alpha male. And to really care so much about your appearance and your diet and everything, it's very feminine. Like, during my prep, you know, my girlfriend was like, "You're just a woman," when I was like, "Oh, that doesn't fit my macros, I can't eat that. Oh, you know, I gotta cut down." And then, like, when I got my spray tan on, she laughed her head off at me. She was like, "You are a—" She was like, "I'm going out with a goddamn woman." I agree, that was a terrible experience. I hate getting a spray tan. So, you know, it's all putting so much effort into your appearance is very feminine. And during the last week, you know, I pretty much took a diet break. You know, as you can see, I haven't gotten fat or anything, but, um, you know, I've put on a few pounds. I'm not as sharp as I was, and my girlfriend can already say, she says, you know, "You're more attractive the way you're more relaxed now. You know, we can go out to dinner." we can have a life. And she said— she actually says, I like your appearance better now. You look bigger, more full, and more relaxed look. So that part of the dad bod phenomenon, I do completely agree with. Girls do like a guy who obviously stays in shape but who doesn't— he's not that high maintenance. So that's my take on it. So I agree with it and I disagree with it. You know, if you want to have that ideal thing that girls will like, you know, obviously get in good shape, hit the gym, have a life outside it. Because, you know, these guys just spending all their time in the gym, you know, just being so neurotic about their food and never going out, you know, they're not gonna get much girls, and that is going to turn females off them. So that's my take on the dad bod. Let me know what you think, because, you know, this is just kind of my opinion. So let me know your thoughts in the comment section below, especially you ladies. What do you think about a guy who puts too much effort into himself? Just a quick video. That's all for me today. Keep it real. I'm out.
