What's up everyone? So, Q&A time. I posted on my Snapchat, I was like, "Yo, hit me up with a couple of questions," and you did just that. So I'm just gonna blast through them here. I've got some on my laptop, some on my phone too. So, you know, I'm just chilling. I'm gonna go through them all. So let's go. First question, if you were to make your own pre-workout, like a lot of YouTubers do, what would it be called? Well, it would have to have the LF logo on it, so I guess it would be called Lifting Fuel. Where do you get most of your clothes from? Topman, H&M, this is from AllSaints, Zara, and Penny's. I get so much gear at Penny's, 'cause when you're jacked as fuck, everything looks good on you. "Rob, I watched your video 'Some Changes to My Life' and I was wondering if you could give me some more advice on what to do. I hate my job and it's going nowhere. Thanks." Whoa, Rob Lipsett, life coaching channel. But okay, the main thing is just have something to fall back on. You know, a lot of people were commenting like, "Yo man, fuck the money, that takes courage." And you know, at the end of the month, I was making more from my own business than working a 9 to 6. So there's more money in a fraction of the time, you know, more money, less hours. So I didn't fuck the money. Don't fuck the money. Money is very important. If anything, I kind of went with the money on that one. And, you know, for people like, oh, that takes courage, it was a bit of a no-brainer. So my advice to you would be just make sure you have something to fall back on. Money is important. It's not the most important thing in the world. I think happiness and quality of life come before money. But yeah, have something to fall back on. And do something you're passionate about. What's up, Rob? Quick question. I'm currently on macros, calories. I always hit protein, but a lot of days I go over my fat allowance and compensate by taking off carbs and sometimes vice versa. If my net calories stay the same and I keep hitting protein, will eating varying amounts of carbs and fat have any effect on my results? Would have thought it was fine but wanted to be on the safe side. P.S. Loving the new videos, please keep them coming. Right on. Yeah, like what you said, the main thing is net calories and protein. So if you're off your macros by a couple of grams, absolutely no problem. Do it myself. Just try to hit your macros as close as you can. But yeah, the main thing is net calories and protein. Protein. What's your mindset like for this prep? Well, I'm pretty well into it now. I always think the start of cutting is the hardest, but as you go on and on, you see more results, you see more shreds, more cuts, and you get more motivated to just keep going. And for the actual competition, you know, this is my first ever competition, so, you know, I may win, I may lose. So I don't know, you know, I'm just gonna do my very best. I'm gonna bring my best physique. Rob Lipsett, I saw on Snapchat you went out to eat with your family the other day. Any tips on eating out while cutting? Thanks. Yeah, so that day I woke up and just had a very light breakfast because I knew I was going to be going out for a family lunch. I went to the gym, then when I got to the restaurant with my family, I just ordered a sensible option. I ordered a chicken stir-fry, so it was like chicken, brown rice, load of vegetables. I skipped on dessert, and then for the rest of the day, I just, you know, kept my fat and carbohydrates low. Because when you go to a restaurant that isn't like, you know, a healthy restaurant, or it doesn't have the nutritional info, their job is to make the food taste as good as possible. So, you know, they'll put a load of like flour and sugar in the sauce, you know, they'll drizzle oil all over the meat, you know, they don't care about your macros. Why would they? They just want to make it taste as good as possible. So oftentimes what may seem healthy is, you know, it's a lot more calorie-dense than you think. So always overestimate the, you know, always overestimate the carbohydrates and fat and the calories. So, um, yeah, for the rest of the day, just lowered my carb/fat intake and went on with my life. That was a couple of days ago. It has not stalled fat loss at all. If you ever want to be successful with your cut, you've got to just make it sustainable. You know, this is why I preach the importance of learning about portion control and amounts. It really, you know, it really will help you in your journey. Got to make this lifestyle sustainable if it's ever going to work. Sustainable is the key word in any diet. What is your biggest regret? Oh, that's easy. I wish I was doing what I'm doing now a few years ago. My advice for anyone who has like a business idea or something they're passionate about that they want to do, just stop putting it off. Just do it now. The second you finish watching this video, just do it. Get started. And that's probably the best life advice I can give you. Rob Lipsett, what are your thoughts on pre-exhaustion techniques? They will come in handy in situations like, let's say, you're tricep dominant and your chest is lagging, maybe it would be good to, you know, do some tricep extensions to exhaust the triceps before you do some bench press. Do you smoke? No. If you smoke a pack a day, that comes to like €3,500, just under it. That is like a sick holiday every year. I just couldn't do that. I just think it's absolutely crazy. But I know, you know, it is an extremely strong addiction, but just think about that, any smokers out there. Favorite place in the world you've been to? Las Vegas is a joke. Gonna try and make it back there this summer. Ios Island is also great. Koh Phi Phi Island in Thailand is awesome too. I think there's something just about, you know, a tropical sunny island that just makes everyone go nuts. Even when, you know, the weather in Ireland gets sunny, everyone just takes it as a national holiday and goes insane. Favorite form of social media? Yeah, as you may or may not know, you know, social media means more to me than just looking at chicks on Instagram. Like, yo, I'm really interested in the marketing side of it, you know, advertising campaigns, how to make money out of social media. Marketing was probably one of my favorite modules in college, so you know, there's more to it. So in my opinion, the best forms of social media these days are YouTube. You know, if you can make a good YouTube channel, that's amazing. It's without a doubt the hardest social media platform to get a following on. You know, you can't just post pictures. You actually have to go out to the world and do things. I think Facebook is dying. Twitter is dying. Instagram is very big. Instagram's going strong. Snapchat. Snapchat is, you know, amazing. I can— you know, I've got thousands of people on my Snapchat, and I can essentially do like a quick YouTube video in a second. And, you know, I can guarantee you, you will start seeing, you know, celebrities have their verified ticks on Snapchat. You know, there's a ton of famous people on Snapchat now, and they've done a great job at monetizing it. You know, such a hard thing to monetize, and, you know, they've got the whole Discover page, they've got like MTV and you know, CNN on it now, you know, it's crazy. But yes, this is— I think Snapchat is going to be massive this year. Rob Lipsett, I noticed you have nice skin. No homo, right? Give us some of your skin tips. Literally the only thing I do with my skin is I just exfoliate in the shower and I use coconut oil to moisturize. That's it. Get someone from the phone now. What type of cardio will you be adding in when you start doing your cut? I've added in one HIIT session, high-intensity interval training, a week, just on the bike, on the stationary bike. And I've also added in some low-intensity steady state, just whenever I have to listen to a podcast or an interview, you know, about fitness and nutrition. And also, personal trainers out there, you should always be expanding your knowledge. So whenever I have, you know, there's a big important interview with a big name that I can listen to, I will just go on the incline treadmill, put the earphones in, and, uh, you know, I'll zone out for like 45 minutes and just listen to that. So yeah, that, that gets it done. So hit and list. Favorite thing to do apart from fitness? Just normal lad stuff, you know, go to the cinema. I love going out eat. I love going on road trips, holidays, the usual. Favorite pre-gym ritual? I love waking up early, getting all my work out of the way, having a really large breakfast, you know, heavy in protein, carbs, and fat, and then waiting about 3 hours for that to digest. You know, I don't like training with food in my stomach. And then getting in— some days I like pre-workout, some days I just love a big coffee. And then playing my favorite music, driving to the gym. Perfect. Oh, and also, ton of water. A lot of people think, you know, when they're thinking pre-workout, they're thinking, you know, carbs, you know, pre-workout supplement. Everyone forgets water. And I also, you know, throw a lot of sodium on my meals as well to give me the pump. So, would I get better results if I used IFYM rather than eating loads and not counting macros, even though I'm only 17? I would suggest tracking macros for about 3 days to get a better idea of what you're eating. The last thing you want to be doing when you're 17 is under-eating. So, you know, we as people are terrible, terrible at self-reporting food intake, you know, just, just guessing what we're eating. We have studies showing us to be off by 2,000 calories when just self-reporting food intake. And I'd say when I did that video, that I'll stick here, on how to track your macros, I got nearly 100 messages being like, "Oh my God, I did not know I was eating that much," or, "Oh my God, I did not know I was eating that little." So yeah, that's what I usually recommend to everyone. Track it for a few days just to get a better idea, because we have terrible— we're very bad at knowing our food intake otherwise. "What are your opinions on beta-alanine? Is it worth getting and does it make a difference?" Uh, yeah, beta-alanine, there's some solid research behind it, um, and it's cheap. If you ever want to know about a supplement, just hit up examine.com. Really good website, gives a non-biased review on all the literature that we have on any supplement or even any vitamin. Uh, really good website. Examined.com. What was your favorite Leaving Cert subject and why? Uh, psh, PE. You know what that means, cut? That means I'm a fucking sicko. No, but seriously, my favorite was art. I got like a B1 in it, which, you know, is pretty good seeing as art is subjective. And even, you know, nowadays, you know, I'm into film and photography, and, you know, I love editing my videos, you know, seeing how they turn out. It's kind of like drawing a picture. But yeah, so art was my favorite. What position did you play in rugby? How good were you? First, the 4th year, I was flanker, and then I moved into the front row. I played loose head, prop, and hooker. And how good was I? In 6th year, I was on the senior squad. I didn't make the starting first team, probably because the front row ahead of me was the Byrne twins, who, you know, Lancer players. And then the back row ahead of me were two of my best friends, Jordan Coughlan and Conor Gilson, one of which plays for London Irish and the other plays for Munster. So I had these professional players in front of me, and at the time I was like, fuck, damn, I'm never gonna make the team. But, you know, now looking back on it, I guess, you know, I must have been pretty decent just to be training with all these players. And, you know, my year did win the cup, so We were a very high standard, so I guess I must have been alright. How did you balance fitness and traveling? Like, I'm heading to Thailand for 6 weeks, so wondering how'd you go about working out and drinking and eating, etc.? Uh, when I went to Thailand, I lost all kinds of gains. I literally, like, you are struggling to get in protein there. Like, you know, you go into a restaurant, you order chicken curry, You get like a massive bowl of sauce with rice in it and like a piece of chicken. Uh, you know, it is— the gyms there, they're very hard to come across. So yeah, when I went to Thailand, you know, my fitness and diet and everything went to shit. I built fat and lost muscle, but I still had an insanely good time. So, you know, it's all about life experience gains. But when I went to America last summer, you know, I was living in a first world country, of course. Thailand's a bit of a kip. But yeah, when I was in America, I had, you know, I was going to the gym, I was going to the college gym, UCSB, like 4 or 5 times a week. I had my own kitchen. That is a big one. And so we were, me and all my housemates, you know, we were all into the gym. So we were all cooking all of our own food and we would all motivate each other to go to the gym. And we were cooking all our own food, not just to stay in shape, but because it saves you so much money. So Thailand, uh, say goodbye to your gains. America, yeah, you keep your gains, no problem, if you want to. I'm actually going to do a full video on my J1 experience. I've been meaning to do that for so long because it's actually quite gym orientated, seeing as all the lads I was living with. Um, yeah, so I'll get that, I'll try and get that up in the next week. What's your go-to cutting recipe? As you saw in the last video, burrito bowl, so easy and so tasty. Alright, last question. Do you do— would you ever get into underwear modeling or any sort of thing like that? It's actually funny you mention that. After this, I am on the way to a casting for kind of an underwear modeling thing. And if you go on to Lifestyle Sports website, you're probably gonna see my Stupid head. I do things like that from time to time. They're great, you know, bit of cash on the side, but they're very irregular. Like, I would never, you know, focus on that for a living. But yeah, I do that already, and they're great for stuff on the side. Alright, so that's all for today. Any more questions, ask them below. I always reply to everyone unless you turned off replies. Don't do that. People think I'm burning them, and I'm not. Ask some questions below. Hope you enjoyed. Until next time, keep it real. I'm outta here. Peace.
