THE MYSTERY TOUR

Rob Lipsett joins a surprise weekend trip organized by Dublin friends he's known since age 12. The destination is revealed at the airport: Barcelona. He documents the flight, hostel, boat ride, and tapas dinner, reflecting on how easy it is to take spontaneous European trips and balance fitness with travel.

All right, so good morning YouTube. I think this video is gonna be called the mystery tour. Let me tell you why, okay? First off, I know I said October I'm not gonna travel, I'm gonna stay in Dublin, gonna concentrate on work, training, nutrition, but I'm a spontaneous guy. I love doing spur of the moment stuff, YOLO and all that, okay? And basically my group of friends from Dublin, we do this thing where we all put money into a bank account and one of us organizes a trip away just for 1 or 2 nights on the weekend, okay? And we don't know where we're going, so everyone just shows up at the airport and we find out there and then where the trip is gonna be. I turned it down this time, okay? I said no, you know, I'm just back from summer traveling a lot, I'm just gonna stay in Dublin, okay? One of the lads pulled out, there was an open space, someone had to take it. I couldn't say no. So it is the morning now. I'm gonna have a little bit of breakfast. I'm gonna get a gym session in before we go because I don't know how this weekend is gonna go training and nutrition-wise. Then I'm gonna come back here, pack up, get ready, and then go to the airport. So I'm gonna vlog it. It'll be pretty funny, you know, seeing everyone's reactions, seeing where we go. Again, I've got no idea. It should make for an interesting vlog. So sit back, relax, enjoy the video, give it a thumbs up, that'd be great. Let's get into it. Okay, so it's been one of those days, right, where you come into the gym, you're not feeling it, you pick up a weight and it feels heavier than usual, right? And I know I feel like bleeding or something, I feel a little bit tired, but these are the days that you gotta push through. It's really easy to go to the gym when you're feeling great and kick some ass. It's not so easy to go to the gym when you're not feeling so great, okay? So these are the sessions that you gotta push through. I've also been building up my volume the past month, so today's a very high volume day. 5 sets of 10. This is my third set of 40 kg, uh, so look, let's just knock it out and let's get the session going. Go! As humans, okay, we are presented with easy choice and a hard choice every single day, and it is like evolutionary, okay? It's in our genes to survive and choose the easiest option. So I encourage you to not choose the easiest option. Be different. Go get some bread. I'm starting to get into the workout now. Alright, so I haven't done a physique update in a while. Currently cutting down just because I feel better when I'm a little bit leaner. It allows me a bit more leeway, sneak in an old 10,000 calorie challenge here and there. So this is where we're currently at. Anyways, say another 2, maybe 3 weeks. Doing what I'm doing, and we go from there. Then I'd love to transition into like a lean bulk, actually reverse diet properly. It's something I've never really done because, you know, sometimes I go traveling or something, it's hard to be consistent. So I'd love to do that at the start of this year and really go from there. So yeah, so right, on with the day. Okay, so on days when I know I'm gonna be traveling, I try to knock out as much protein as I can at the start of the day so I don't really have to worry about it So I'm gonna go for 2 venison burgers, 23 grams of protein in each of these, and some of this Whelan's reduced fat, high protein black and white pudding, so Irish. Again, all from Carrigans, discount code is Lipsett. But that'll give me well over 50 grams of protein, and so that's one less thing to worry about during the day. Perfect, thank you very much. Cheers, see ya. Have a sip, mate. Thank you, have a great weekend. All right, so we just got here to Dublin Airport. Gonna find the lads now and then find out where we're going. How you get on? Great. Oh, they are style. Talk on, kid. It's like The Inbetweeners but slightly cooler. Private joke, very, very much private joke. Moment of truth. Just got a couple of pints in. Typical standard lad, have more pints. And so now we're going walking to the gate and we're gonna find out where we're going. Okay, it's time, it's time to tell us. Go on. Where are we going? Where are we going? Where are we going? Barcelona! Barcelona! Okay, so here's my airplane buddies saying hello, guys. So they're making daily shots, okay? This is, this is Fear pressure, right? Fear pressure! You can do it! Strong enough to drink this? Yes! Okay, don't put that in. That was like a very close— it's going in, it's going in. Best airplane trip ever. Oh yeah. For the boy. Fair play, Timmy. Fair play. It's not even his real name. It's Michael. Is this actually it? Oh my God, yes! Oh yes, bro! Hard to see in the lighting though, isn't it? I can brighten it up and get a bit of contrast on, a bit of warmth. Oh man, we got a pink limo here. Thank you. All right, lads, champagne! Revolver day rocking a bit. Oh yes, even got crackers! Okay, are we here? Nice, this is the hostel. Wow. This looks great. Oh yeah, this is it. Generator. All right, since we're saying generator, yeah, yeah, small home. Okay, world's quickest room tour, right? All right, okay, nice. There's the door. There's the jacks. Turn on lights. Unreal! Okay, so this is our rooms and now we are going to go night out, so I'm going to finish the vlog. Stop the mess! Stop the mess! Calm! Okay, I'll catch you guys tomorrow. Break! Break! Stop! See you tomorrow. Alright people, so we are back to where the vlog started. Quick little trip to Barcelona and one thing that I realised from that trip is how lucky I actually am to live in Europe. I am going to go on so much more of those little Euro trips. Literally leave late on Friday, back early Sunday, so you know you're back to work on Monday and you get to experience a whole new country. Like, I've never been to Rome, I've never been to Milan, I've never been to Paris. There's a lot of places in Europe that I want to go to, so expect more of those little Europe trips. Another thing that I'm very grateful for of the past weekend was seeing all my oldest friends. Literally, that group that you just saw there, we've been friends since we were 12, 13 years old, and we're all on such different walks of life now, we don't get to see each other as much as we'd like to. And it's actually amazing because there's just so much to talk about and so much to catch up on when you all do different things. So I had such a good weekend. We literally, we went out on the Friday, that's where I left you guys off, and we then the day after, we woke up pretty late, we rented a boat and just, you know, kind of had a few beers, chilled out, sailed the seven seas, whatever it was, and then that night we actually just went for tapas, had a big family dinner, and didn't go as wild as we did on Friday, and then back home on Sunday. So again, that— I swear to God, I said this in a video before that I'd done traveling, but that trip was literally— I decided to get involved on that the day before. You know I like doing spontaneous things, but now I swear to God I'm gonna knuckle down. But I just had to do that trip. Again, you really got to take those opportunities, and you should always always do things with the people that have been there since the very beginning, because you'll regret it when you're older if you don't. So I'm going to finish up this video here. Thank you so much for watching. Right now, the person recording is actually Nabil, who I'm sure you all know. So we're going to make some dope content for Alphalete this week and just have some fun in general. So see you in the next video. Thanks for watching. Keep it real. I'm out of here.
