Sahil Bloom recalls an elderly man telling him to cherish his newborn son, a moment that made him realize what 'enough' actually feels like. Most people stay unhappy because they chase more instead of noticing the sufficiency already in front of them: early morning light, a child's smile, a quiet house.

And one of the things I say in the book is you can never let the quest for more distract you from the beauty of enough. And the story that brought that to mind for me was a personal one. Right after my son was born, I was out on a walk with him right in our neighborhood here. And it was early, early in the morning and I was on the sidewalk and this old man kind of like hobbled over to me and he said, I remember standing here with my newborn daughter. She's 45 years old now. It goes by fast. Cherish it. And I went back home and it had hit me so hard. My wife was still asleep and I brought my son into bed with us. And he kind of had this little smile on his face. The sun was coming in through the windows, and I just had this moment, like the first moment of my life where I felt like I had arrived, but I didn't want anything more. Like in that moment, I had this sensation that I had enough. And if this was all I ever got, it was this moment that I didn't need anything more. And that feeling is the essence of all of this. It's that feeling that you don't need more, that feeling that you have enough.
