To Bulk Or Not To Bulk, Channel Upgrade, Signing Contracts

Rob Lipsett walks through his day covering whether a one-month bulk makes sense before a Thailand trip in two months (spoiler: it doesn't), his shoulder routine with overhead press and banded raises, and new soft-box lighting that's already improving his video quality.

Good morning, my beautiful, beautiful friends. But so anyways, I just kicked off the day with, you know, just another smoothie concoction. What is it? It's like frozen bananas, pears, frozen spinach, cocoa protein milk, creatine/tren, and chocolate orange whey, right? And I had a client the other day, you know, and he's like, I can't eat vegetables. I don't eat vegetables or fruit. And I'm just like, you know, I can't promise you results if you don't. So I tell them the old trick too, if you freeze them, you know, you don't taste them and just blend them up. So honestly, this thing is actually great. I am also, whenever I'm in a rush, like I have to train early today and you know, I want something that's going to digest fast. So if you blend things up, a shake, you know, that's like pre-digesting it. So it goes through you a bit quicker. But anyways, right, I'm going to kick this video off, keep up with these daily vlogs. I know, I'm sorry they're so shit. I'm sorry they're so boring. But we're nearly there. We're just doing 7 days, but, but anyways, let's start the video. This is my favorite part. Time to ask you guys a question. I am going to Thailand in 60 days, 2 months, and obviously I want to be shredded as fuck for that. I want to look good on the beach. Who doesn't? But I, and you know, obviously I've been cutting the last while just for video shoots and being lean in general. And you know, I wanted to be lean before I started bulk. And like, now that that video shoot with Machine Fitness is over, I wanted to like do a slight little bulk, but I'm just like, you know, then I got Thailand in 2 months, but I'm just thinking like, is there a point in bulking for a month? Like typically a bulk is meant to last the majority of the year. Like think about it, if you're like you bulk for a month and then you cut for the next month, the net effect is just going to be the same. Like, so typically you want to bulk for like 9 months of the year and cut for 3 months to see some significant results. And like, that's something I've never got to do. And I was just kind of thinking like, I could be so much bigger. Like, I've always spent most my time kind of cutting or maintaining or stuff like that, and like trying to stay lean all year round, which, you know, staying lean and ripped year round, they're two different things. So like, I'm I think, is there much point in doing a bulk for a month? Let me know what you think. In my opinion, there's not really, unfortunately. Possibly up my calories some more and not do anything extreme, but I'm down for just a period of time, maybe after Thailand, where I can just bulk without any worries. But anyways, that, that's, um, that's what I'm kind of thinking about today. Protein oats with berries and chia seeds. All right, so just back at the gym, and I always like to actually prep my post-workout meal for when when I get home, so, you know, when I get home it's just ready to go. And by the way, the whole post-workout anabolic window thing is overhyped for the most part, but I just personally, I like eating after the gym. I think most people do, you know, you get home, you're hungry. So the easiest way to cook sweet potatoes, in my opinion, is poke a few holes in it, wrap it in tin foil, and just put it in the oven for an hour. So my workouts take about an hour, so that is perfect. And then I usually just cook chicken breasts in the George German or the grill. So, uh, today just gotta sign a little contract for BodyPower for, uh, some kind of like competition that we're doing in a couple of months. Uh, drop that off at the post office. I, I spend a lot of time at the post office, but, uh, yeah, this is just, uh, giving you a little insight into my kind of daily routine. Gonna go for a scoop of this stuff today. If you're not putting ice in your pre-workout, you're doing it wrong, guys. One of my favorite parts of like the whole day is actually driving to the gym, listening to music, getting pumped up. Like, I absolutely love it. Absolutely love it. Like, I possibly enjoy it more than being in the actual gym. Well, that's an exaggeration, but I fucking love it. All right, what's going on?
So just training shoulders here, right? And you know, I've done like so many shoulder workouts on this channel and they don't change. My lift tip for the day is don't keep changing your workout or your compound movements anyways, because if you keep changing up your workout, how do you expect to get better at it? Like, if one day you're doing like flat bench press, then the next you're doing incline, then decline, you know, how are you going to mark your progress? So you know, you change up your isolations if you want, but you know, my compounds will always stay the same. So with that said, today I'm going to show you this little other variation I did on my isolation work, which is dumbbell raises with a band.
It just keeps more tension on the muscle throughout the movement, and it feels awesome and gives you a good pump too.
But I always just stick with OHP to start off my shoulder workout. You've seen that so many times, so I didn't bother showing that today. But anyways, let's go.
Let's go! Good! Also, you probably noticed that I threw in a few kind of like cheat reps at the end there. When you're doing something like curls, for example, it's alright towards the end after you do, you know, you burn out with proper form, to just, you know, overload the muscles with a bit of momentum.
It's just another form of overload, and as long as you're doing it on a movement that's safe, such as raises or curls, it's fine. But don't do any cheat squats or cheat deadlifts. They'll snap your shit up.
Also, today's outfit— Machine Fitness everything. And I also got these shoes in Pull&Bear. They're like €30. All right, so just got home. Sweet potatoes are ready to go, but I've decided I'm just gonna have some lean burgers instead. And that's what I use to season them. Alright guys, so this is what we got going on. I'm probably going to lay the smack down with some Sriracha sauce as well. Alright, sweet. So I got a big parcel in the mail today, and I'm going to presume these are soft boxes and not the big order of Trend that I made. But you know, let's just crack it open and hope for the best. Let's go. Um, hey, give me a big duffel bag as well. I need a new gym bag perhaps. Right, okay, look, I'm gonna figure out how to set these up and, uh, see if they're any use. All right, so here is the current lighting of me just sitting on the desk chilling, um, just the normal light on in the room. And then here is the lighting I just got. And now this is with the lighting. So as you can see, it's much clearer and it just makes for— it's just easier to watch. It makes for a better quality video. So, uh, this is where I'll probably be doing like Q&As, or even like, you know, it's easier for me to talk over a workout. Or like now I can even just make a video on a certain topic because of some of the— say chill and talk. So absolutely chuffed for that. Channel upgrade right there. So that is today wrapped up. Hope you enjoyed this vlog. We're nearly done our 7 days. Let me know what you think of it. Apart from that, I'm outta here. Keep it real.
