WHO ARE THESE PEOPLE

Rob Lipsett introduces his new roommates and interviews a fitness YouTuber with over 100,000 subscribers about building an audience through day-in-the-life vlogs, training content, and travel. The creator attributes his growth to early entry into Ireland's fitness niche and consistent uploads, while balancing gym time with socializing and eating out.

What's going on guys, welcome to today's video. Now these are my new roommates, this is my new vlogging camera. No, I'm not serious, this is Orti, this is Filip, and we're going through his training and nutrition program and just answering a couple of questions.
Okay, let's bring it back maybe.
Do you want to go? Just the intro bit and stuff like that? Yeah, yeah.
Perfect. How many people are going to see this now, Rob?
Well, I've got 100,000 subscribers and, you know, depending on the video that, you know, it can get, it can go viral, it can get less views, get more views, but yeah.
100,000 subscribers to your YouTube channel. I think I have one to mine and it might be my wife. Am I dragging you down?
No, everyone go subscribe to Philip. He won't let you down. It's the life of Philip. It's awesome.
What are your subscribers seeing? What are you giving them?
Um, usually it's a day in the life where I'll kind of pick topics. I'll take you through my training, nutrition. Sometimes I'll even just do a sit-down video where I pick one topic and really go in depth about it. Sometimes there's travel vlogs, but it's generally just kind of what I'm up to.
Tell me though about how it is that you build that, that business. How do you go about creating, frankly, such a huge name for yourself?
Well, thank you for that, first of all. But I guess, you know, the fundamental rule of marketing is do things that'll get people talking about you, you know, spread your name. So I guess I was kind of the first person to consistently do kind of fitness YouTube niche in Ireland. So, you know, that helped a lot. And then also collaborating with other people. So that's why I go to America a lot. It's weird, you just keep producing content and it'll kind of do its own thing. It'll keep working. Like, for example, I had a video, "How to Make Protein Pancakes." takes, and that's on like a couple hundred thousand views because people want to know. So they'll be like, they'll Google it, they'll YouTube it, and then they'll find my channel. So it kind of— you keep producing content and it'll grow itself.
Okay. Oh, did you always look like this though when you started? And were you in such good shape?
I was in decent shape, you know, but, uh, I've definitely made a lot of progress in the last 2 years. It's actually funny, I look back at my older videos and I'm like Damn, you know, I've made some gains.
But it took a huge amount of work.
Yeah, no, absolutely, but this is what I love to do, so, you know, I see going to the gym as kind of a luxury even, you know. It's kind of like a time of day where I just switch off.
Now that's funny. A luxury, you say?
Yeah.
What age are you? Can I be indiscreet?
Yeah, no, absolutely. Yeah, I'm 24.
You're 24 years old and you describe going to the gym as a luxury. When was the last time that you bumped into a group of mates spontaneously and you went on the absolute batter?
I'd say about 2 weeks ago in New York City. Okay.
And before that?
Yeah, no, before that I can't even remember. I think I was in LA. I only really kind of go out and drink and party for events. Yo, I don't really go on any kind of like pointless nights out. And it's not that like it's so bad for your fitness. I, you know, I have a few clients who they'll tell me, look, I've got an upcoming event and I will kind of work that into their plan. But it's just, as you know, a businessman, I don't have time to be hungover. So that's kind of the main thing.
There's not many other 24-year-old businessmen out there who love their job.
Yeah, yeah. I often say, you know, work hard now so later down the line you can put your feet up.
Put in your 10,000 hours at this stage, fine. But the difference with you is you have to look like this all the time.
Yeah, you know, I'd say in relatively good shape, but there are definitely times where I have a bit of downtime or relax with the diet, you know, I might take a week off from the gym or something. But yeah, so I do have my downtime, and then I also do have times when, you know, I'm going hard.
And that idea of spending so much time in the gym, do you ever think, God, you know what, I might be missing out on a lot?
Yeah, no, absolutely. I always say that you can make some gains in the gym, but life experience gains are more important. So I only spend about an hour in the gym, 5 or 6 days a week. I'll go out to eat with friends, I'll just incorporate that into my diet plan, order a smart option, you know. I never kind of restrict myself.
Okay, so you're not one of those people who says, "No, I'm sorry, I can't meet you for a meal because I've got this Tupperware to fill up with all of my vegetables." Oh no, no, I hate that.
I really kind of am against that. The type of diet that I follow would be referred to as flexible dieting. And yeah, I think meeting an old friend for a lovely meal is more important than having chicken and broccoli out of a Tupperware box.
So you are not as hardcore as I believed that you would have to be to end up or to keep yourself in this this kind of shape?
No, you just got to be smart about it and then you can definitely kind of enjoy yourself a little bit more.
Okay, now sorry, I've dominated your vlog. Do you want to actually talk to your subscribers?
Oh no, this is great. No, this is perfect. Yeah, people always like seeing kind of other people on the channel as well.
With my one subscriber, you might lend me one or two of yours. I'm fascinated by this. I'm fascinated.
So I can have clients all over the world and, you know, get the results. So it's all done online.
Rob, thank you very much for your advice and your help.
No problem at all, great to have you. I think you were talking earlier about the analytics and the breakdown of where people are based and that kind of thing. Right, so that was like a nice productive start to the day. They came at like half 8 and that was all finished, wrapped up by 10. So awesome, nice. Now it is time to go off to the bank. I am just dressed super casual today. I like this hoodie though. But right, let's hit the road. It is also a really nice sunny day. It's freezing. This thing's cold as hell, but it's kind of like nice and crispy and refreshing, if you know what I'm saying. That kind of like winter freshness. Also, Sarah did like a MyProtein giveaway, so while I'm out, I'm just gonna put that in the post office for her. Okay, so next up is post office. Just gonna run in quickly, post this off. Okay, so back home now, uh, I'm gonna get cleaned up a little bit. All right, so down to Rat Oath Dental Center. That's where I'm going today. I remember when I was younger, I used to hate going to the dentist, but like now I love it. You go in there, you lie down, you know, take a snooze, they like clean your teeth for you and send you off. It's brilliant. So all right, let's hit the road. One of those Alfley joggers. Okay, so just arrived down to the dentist now in Rathoath. Am I saying that right? But that was a lovely drive down, got some more podcasts in, nice country roads, easy driving, right? Let's, uh, let's go on in. Just outside Rathbone Dentist there. I feel so fresh, my mouth feels so clean. I'm booked to go back for some whitening or bleaching next week, but I told them I'll be in America, so anytime around after that. Right, back in the car, on with the day. Companies and organizations, raise your hands. Very nice. Let's break them down into two things. All done at the dentist. Björn, clean! All right, just outside Raw now, going to go in, get a push workout. Look at McGregor over there. I am just with Sarah, so this is like one of my last sessions, last push session before I head off to America, so let's make it a good one. How you fucking doing, lads? Yo, really quick commentary to give you guys a quick update on what's been going on. So last week was New York, and then this week was just so busy, as you've kind of seen. There's been TV interviews, appointments, seminars, had to submit my taxes for the first time ever. I was like, uh, grown-up shit. Uh, see, as Lipsett Fitness as a brand/business started in 2015, so, and that was stressful. Had to stay on top of work while also preparing for Orlando, Chicago, and San Diego this Sunday. So yeah, a lot going on, but I do kind of secretly love having loads of stuff going on as it makes me feel productive. Which is my favorite feeling ever. I hate the feeling of not doing enough. So my consistency with gym and diet has not been as good as I would like it to be, and I feel goddamn skinny fat right now. But look, who really cares? Everyone has tough weeks, and every week cannot be perfect. With that said, for this workout, I did not want to record much of it. I just really wanted to focus on getting a decent workout in. Right, so Sarah left early because my sessions— I'm really working on getting my volume and strength back to where it is, so my sessions are a little bit longer this week, uh, after being inconsistent for the last 2 weeks. Guilty. So Sarah went home early, gonna pick her up now and just bring her to some appointment she has to go to. Alright, she went and got a quick fresh chop there. But anyways, I'm gonna finish up this vlog here. I swear to God, this week has been so hectic. I've actually like vlogged 3 or 4 times this week and I've just forgot to finish it every time because I just get caught up in work and it's really busy. But now thankfully I'm off to Orlando on Sunday. When I get there, I can just concentrate on having fun, vlogging, delivering you guys awesome content, traveling around, meeting some of the subscribers, and and catching up with the Alfley crew, who at this stage I'm pretty close with. So I'm gonna finish up this vlog here. Thank you so much for watching. Leave it a like if you enjoyed it, and I will see you in Orlando.
