Why Have I Not Been Uploading As Much ?

Rob Lipsett explains why he's been uploading less: a Men's Physique competition win, BodyPower event, Alphalete shoot, and his partner Sarah's new YouTube channel. He shares his upper-body workout, flexible deloading approach, intermittent fasting routine, and a KTP facial at ClearSkin.ie.

Alright, so starting the day off with something a little bit different today. It is almond milk, some Wheaties, berries, and I've got a scoop of protein here. I've kind of made it into like, kind of like peanut butter sauce. I know, I've been doing it last couple of days. It's delicious. Check it out. Take your bowl of cereal to the next level and get some proteins in. What is up everyone? Good morning. Hope you're having a great week. We got something to talk about, right? So I'm gonna sit down, gonna prop the camera up, just gonna have a chat like it's me and you. Let's go. Alright, so the last couple of weeks I haven't been coming out with that many videos, like 2 videos per week on average. I'll never, I'll never miss a week, but you know, ideally I'd like to get more content out and And I've probably seemed a little different on camera. I may have seemed a little stressed and overwhelmed. That's because I am, or was. Basically, the last few weeks have just been insane, yo. I've had my Men's Physique competition, which I couldn't believe when I took home first place at that. I had BodyPower afterwards. I had my Alphalete video, the making of it. I had Sarah starting up her YouTube channel. I'm so proud of her for doing that. If you knew her, and if you knew how shy and stuff she was. And basically, I just had so much going on and I'm literally, the only way I could describe how I'm feeling right now is like a comedown. I'm like, did all that just happen? Like, it feels like my dreams are coming true and it's just, sometimes it's crazy for me. And so the reason I'm just telling you this is just to let you guys know that I am one of you. I get really stressed, I get bad anxiety, I get the feeling of being overwhelmed. I feel like I should be doing more and more and more and stuff like this, and that's just like stressed me out more. And I've just kind of had that like the last while, and even the last week I've been sleeping really badly. And then I just had a really good sleep there and I feel like a new man. So I just wanted to get that off my chest and just so you guys know that, you know, I am not always like, la da da, life is so great and easy the whole time. Just, you know, sometimes I do feel like that as well. But like I said, I'm feeling much better today, so let's go make a kick-ass vlog. When you wake up in the morning, do me a favor, drink a big bottle of water, nice cold water, just to wake you up, start the day off right. So just having a look at Sarah's channel here, go over to the related channels, and we casually just have Rich Piana down there, you know, like, it's basically the same thing, you know, basically there's not much difference. We've got the same build. But both of them say Ben Jerry's don't count. All right, so pre-workout is gonna be the following. Gonna be some MyPre, which I haven't taken in ages. I've been mainly sticking to Coffee pre-workout the last while. I'm also going to add some beta-alanine to it as well, and there is no proprietary blends in my pre, and there is also a good amount of beta-alanine in it already, but I just like going a little bit higher over the recommended dose. And yeah, seeing as it's cheap, I get it for free, why the hell not? All right, so I'm gonna be completely honest with you guys, I missed a few sessions over the last week, so today is going to be an upper body session. So I'm gonna hit chest, shoulders, back I'm gonna start off with a shoulder movement, so that is gonna be an overhead press of some sort. Then I'm gonna go on to a rowing movement, and then a chest movement such as bench, dumbbells, whatever. Then accessory work. So I'm excited. I actually love training complete upper body workouts because you get a pump everywhere and it feels great. So I always say to people, like, if I could only make it to gym 4 or 5 times a week, I would, um, I would just train upper/lower. It's an awesome split, so let's go. Yo, what's up everyone? So I'm gonna do a little voiceover talkover to this workout. And first of all, like I said, you know, this is just an upper body workout. You've seen all these movements before, so what I'm gonna do is I'm just gonna use this time to talk to you about a topic. And that topic is something that came up on my Twitter. I actually used to hate Twitter, and now my Twitter is lit, as they say in America. Someone asked me a question about deloads, and I thought it was a really good question. And everyone's got kind of like different takes on deloads, like, you know, when to take a to take a deload, why to take a deload. So I'm going to give my kind of, you know, opinion on it anyways. So basically a deload is a week where you take it easy on training. You can either reduce all your lifts down to about 50% of your one rep max, uh, so you go in there, you kind of just go through the motions, or you can take a complete week off the gym. And there are other ways to deload as well, such as reducing volume, but I know it's basically taking it handy for a week. Now, when to deload? Basically when you feel worn out, bind up, and you know, your joints start to hurt, you feel like demotivated, you don't want to hit the gym as much, that would be a good time to take a deload. Now this is where I start to disagree with some people. Some programs, they have scheduled deloads into the program. So for example, every like 4th or 5th week, they will have a scheduled deload week. And now I'm not like talking down upon that, like there's some excellent programs with deload scheduled in, but personally I think you should just plan a deload when you think you actually need one. Like, imagine you go into the gym, you're feeling amazing, the weights are feeling light, and then you're like, "Oh, this is a deload week. I'm not allowed to go ham here. You know, I've got to, like, wind the weights back." You know, no. I don't think that's enjoyable or optimal. So what I promote is scheduling a deload just when you feel you need it. And then I also have, like, talk about something called life deloads. So that's basically when you know there's an event coming up where you're not able to train 100% and you're gonna have to take some time off. So for example, I'm feeling pretty worn out right now. I've competed last month and I haven't taken a break since then. I've been going 6 days a week. I've still been, you know, kind of like keeping my calories low-ish and stuff like that. You know, I kind of feel like having a deload this week, but I'm going away on holidays next week, so I'm gonna hold off until next week and have a bit of a deload then. I call them normal life deloads. Do you know what I mean? So you schedule them when you know you're gonna have to kind of take it easy on your training a little bit. So now next week when I go on holidays, I'm still gonna train, but I'm just gonna kind of, you know, go in and fool around a little bit and just do like some kind of light exercise. So to wrap things up, deload week, basically taking a week off the gym. We're taking it handy for a weekend. I say, I personally recommend just taking them when you feel you need them. We're gonna leave you here. Don't forget to give the video a thumbs up if you're enjoying it. Peace. So post-workout, I'm gonna make up— I'm actually fasted, by the way. I told you the other day, I just do intermittent fasting. If I wake up not hungry, I'll just go about my day. So it's like— what time is it? It's 20 past 1, and so I'm about to have my first meal of the day. I'm gonna make sweet potatoes and eggs. Oopsies. Sweet potatoes are just getting kind of baked in there. I'm gonna make egg whites and one whole egg. And Sarah is having her usual salad, watching some Brittany Lesser. I've got the egg whites cooking there, and I want to just have the eggs separately, but I got this like little mini frying pan for making eggs. And who else is like the most OG subscribers remember that little tiny frying pan I had for making pancakes and eggs? It's back. Ah, those were the days. Alright, so first meal of the day. The reason I cooked the eggs and the egg whites separately is because I want the egg yolk to go all runny. There we go, meal number 1. Alright, so now we are just going up to ClearSkin.ie to get me a facial. Say what you want, I think it's important to look after your appearance. Sarah always goes in to get stuff done in there, so now I'm— you know, they've invited me to go in, and to be honest, I can't wait. I'm getting like all the dead skin removed off my face. What is it? It's like red veins gone and stuff like that. I've got like one red vein just like there. Yeah, so I'm getting rid of that and I'm really looking forward to it. I get like a face massage and everything. So yeah, I'll see you in there. So are you gonna burn off your little red mark? Yeah, hopefully after this I'll be somewhat decent looking lad. I wouldn't count on it. Does not hurt so much, Rob? Kind of. Don't lie. Yeah, a little bit. Yeah. All right, so just leaving Clear Skin there. Um, there was actually a really interesting point made and the person doing my face, they're like, so what's your skincare routine? What do you do? And I'm like, literally all I do is put coconut oil on my face. And she was like, it's so, you know, it's such a coincidence that women tend to have the most skin problems and they put everything under the sun on their face, but men are like, you know, they're a lot less prone to that and they, you know, keep things a lot more simple. So just the food for thought. And yeah, if anyone's asking people always do, what is my skincare routine? I literally just use coconut oil as moisturizer. That's it. This is literally— that is it. Oh, and if you're wondering what I was getting there, it's called KTP treatment, and it literally just gets rid of any kind of red veins on your face. And I had like this little red mark there that just got zapped off. It was kind of painful, felt like getting a tattoo, but it's done in a couple of seconds. Just having a quick burrito bowl. You guys know how it is. Pretty much a staple in my diet. Alright, so I'm just wrapping up this vlog and I was reminded of something very important that's on today. And that's basically the Leaving Cert. And now, only 30% of my viewers are Irish, so those people in different countries, what that is, it's basically, it's said to be the most important exams that you'll ever sit. It's the exams that decide what college you get into or if you even get into college. And now, you know, a lot of people are taking social media and they're giving their kind of like take on it, and you know, what they advise, you know, how to approach them mentally and stuff like that. So I'm gonna give my take on it. First of all, obviously, you know, a good leaving cert, good to have, no-brainer, do your best. I think that's safe to say. But for those who aren't as prepared as they'd like to be, or those who just, you know, aren't very academic, I'm just gonna give you one little take, one little piece of information, okay? You couldn't be going into the real world at a better time where online businesses, entrepreneurship, the social media generation, it's all just going off. It's all just booming. You couldn't be going into the real world at a better time where a piece of paper doesn't define who you are. Let that sink in. It's just right now is like, it's just this really weird stage in the world where academics isn't as important as they may have been 5 or 10 years ago. So do your very best, but what's done is done. Keep a cool head. There is zero benefit to freaking out and stressing out. It's only going to set you back and make you perform worse. So think about what I said. I'm going to leave things up here. Thank you so much for watching. Best of luck. Keep it real. I'm out of here. Until next time.
