Gratitude for Progress, Energy and Lifestyle

In this weekly Friday Q&A, Laura, a coach at Living Proof, guides participants through a celebration of non‑scale victories as they head into the Thanksgiving holiday. She explains why focusing on outcomes beyond the number on the scale—such as sustained energy, improved mood, deeper sleep, body‑composition changes, habit integration, and increased confidence—provides a more accurate picture of metabolic and hormonal healing. Laura outlines how these wins reflect improved insulin, cortisol, thyroid balance, reduced inflammation, and cellular repair. She also addresses practical program logistics: the staggered release of educational modules (approximately every three days), how new members should navigate the onboarding content, and the importance of keeping pace with the material. Participants ask about sharing the recorded presentations with their patients; Laura confirms that the YouTube channel containing all replay videos can be freely shared and used as a resource for clinicians, health coaches, and clients. Technical glitches at the start of the session are acknowledged, and a preview of an upcoming guest speaker is provided. The session closes with a reminder to practice gratitude for the progress made and to carry these non‑scale victories into the holiday season.

Hi, Jill. I know you're muted. I don't know what happened. I was on and So bizarre. I just canceled out and came back in, so I'm glad that that worked. I apologize. It's very strange, very strange. Oh, look, and people are coming in. Yay! I thought it was going to be a no-show day, which is always sad, but, um, great, great, great, great. Hi, Lisantha. Sorry, my apologies if you were trying to get in. I have no idea what happened. Really strange. Anyway, I think, thank you, thank you everyone for joining me. And again, apologies if you were not able to get in earlier. I'm not sure what happened there, but just in the, just in the order to save time because we're starting 15 minutes late. I think what I'll do is just go right into the presentation that I have for you this, this afternoon, and then of course if you have any questions at all, we will open it up at the end and it's a great opportunity to ask. I know everybody's at different parts of the program, so if you're just starting, you may have questions about that, and if you are farther in You may also be, have questions regarding that. So whatever works for you is great. And let me just get started. All right, so here we are. Today, what I thought would be a good idea to talk about is just some of the non-scale victories that we will recognize as we go through this process. It is— I don't know that everyone here is based in Canada. I know we have clients in Canada and the US, but it is actually Thanksgiving weekend here in Canada coming up. So I just thought it would be kind of a nice way to— it would be fitting to heading into this weekend with celebration and gratitude and just recognizing these non-scale victories that we will be achieving in the program as we just pause here and enter the holiday weekend. Because if it's not your holiday weekend specifically, it will be your holiday weekend coming up soon. And of course, the holidays in general are fast approaching, fast approaching. So one moment, please. I'm just letting a few other people in. And again, apologies for all the confusion. So welcome to everyone who's just joining. I'm going to share here, making sure everybody is in. Okay. Sorry. Okay, let me open my chat just in case anyone has any questions as we're going through, and I can see it that way. Hi, Katie, welcome. I'm sorry if you had any problems getting in. I don't know what happened. I was on live waiting for everybody, but I guess I was somewhere else. I don't know where I was, but I was definitely in Deepa's room because there was a picture of Deepa there waiting for me. So I don't know what happened. Anyway, welcome. My name is Laura. I am a coach here at Living Proof. This is our weekly Friday Q&A. It's an opportunity to ask questions, to celebrate our wins, our gratitude, and we always have a small presentation to go along with it for you. This weekend, as I was saying, in case you just joined, we're going to talk about celebrating non-scale victories. And we're going to go right into it because we are already a little bit late getting started. And I don't want to take up any more of your time than you had allotted for. But as I was saying earlier, today is heading into the Thanksgiving weekend here in Canada. And not everyone is based in Canada, of course, that is with us today. However, we are all heading into the holiday season very shortly. I mean, October comes and then it just happens, right, one right after the other into, into the end of the year. So I thought it would just be a really good time as we head into this weekend to just pause and reflect and express gratitude, not just for the food on our table or the company we share it with, but also for our bodies and the progress we've made. For the transformation that's happening on the inside. Because even if you're not celebrating this weekend a holiday, it's, I think, worthwhile to reflect and honor yourself. And we're gonna talk about non-scale victories, and I'll explain what those are. Everybody may be at different points in the program. So whether you're just starting and really haven't had anything change in your body yet, or whether you're more towards the end of the program or even beyond that, you will understand what non-scale victories mean. These are the wins that go beyond the number on the scale. They're things like better energy and better mood, improved sleep, and the lifestyle shifts that we make that make all the difference to our health. And I think it's really important to remember that being thankful for these changes, whether they're big or small, and they're not always, you know, significant changes, is just a very powerful motivator as we go through the program. So why do we focus on victories beyond the scale? It's kind of a something that we don't necessarily think about. I think we all tend to be a little bit more scale-oriented or scale-focused, but the scale is tricky, right? It goes up, it goes down. It doesn't actually give you the whole picture or tell the whole story of what's happening in your body. It doesn't certainly measure if you have a new spring in your step or any clarity you may have in your mind, or just the confidence you feel when you walk into the room. True progress lives in the moments when you kind of realize that you don't have that afternoon slump anymore, or you catch yourself smiling, or you just have, like I said, that spring in your step that you may not have had before. And I want— I think I want everyone to realize that when we shift our gratitude towards what our bodies can do rather than what they weigh, that makes a huge difference to us because our bodies are working hard every single day. They're carrying us through our commitments. They're adapting to new habits. And of course, they're healing from the inside and out. And that deserves a huge celebration. It's worth recognizing that true health is really more than, than just the number on the scale. And as The slide says it's about energy and having that sustained vitality through the day. It's about mood and emotional balance and confidence, right? Feeling strong in your own skin. So you might be asking yourself, well, what are non-scale victories? Let's look at a few examples of what those are. So we'll start with just energy and having that consistent energy throughout the day. That means no more crashes or desperately reaching for caffeine. And I think we can all relate to that and have all been there, that sort of 2:00 PM slump we've heard about or experienced for sure. You know, you now, as your body starts to heal and starts to be able to burn fat for fuel, you're going to start experiencing more balanced and reliable energy that's gonna carry you through the whole day. You're probably gonna find that you will be sleeping better, more deeply, and waking more refreshed. Falling asleep comes easier. You're going to just be ready to embrace the day ahead when you wake up rather than always feeling tired or like you're not well rested. Your mood should improve and be brighter. You should experience fewer cravings and notice moments of joy, less irritability perhaps, and more emotional stability. That just makes life feel more manageable in general. Your clothes are gonna start to fit differently. That's why we ask you to take measurements at the beginning of the program. You will notice that your jeans and your, I'm talking about your pants, not your DNA, are gonna feel different. And maybe, you know, your shirts are feeling, fitting differently. Your shape is changing. And that's a great thing as well. Also having more confidence in your daily choices. You're probably feeling more ease in your body. Have a different confidence that comes from knowing you're taking care of yourself. And also, you probably feel more resilience, maybe some new calmness that you didn't have before, and hopefully the gratitude for these changes, these changes in your body's strength and abilities. And these are the kind of non-scale victories that truly change the quality of our life. The scale is fabulous. You know, it's just a checkpoint. And something that we can see, it's data, but it's these non-scale victories that actually make the biggest change ultimately to, to our lives. And I think they're really worth celebrating, and a lot of us don't take the time to celebrate them in the way that they deserve. Um, okay, so one of the biggest victories is energy, right? I'm sure everyone here at some point in their lives has experienced that afternoon slump. You know, it would kind of derail your whole afternoon. You're sitting at your desk and you have to go get coffee or you reach for sugar or chocolate or something just like literally to function. You may have found yourself zoning out during meetings. Those days are going to be behind you once your body becomes more metabolically flexible. And if you used to rely on the caffeine or the sugar just to get through the day, you should be able to now power through with steady energy, and that's a huge win. It's your body becoming more efficient and your metabolism becoming more efficient. It's a sign that you've balanced your blood sugar or have started to balance your blood sugar. So that means your body is now getting this like steady, reliable fuel. It's coming from fat instead of sugar, and that is available to you throughout the day. You're not always having to replenish it with a new dose of it. You're not riding the roller coaster of those energy spikes and crashes anymore. Instead, you should be experiencing the sustainable vitality that makes everything feel more doable. We talked about mood a little bit. Mood is a big one. You know, having a stable mood really is very precious. If anyone has ever experienced those mood shifts that we just don't make us feel good, right? But when we start to balance nutrition with movement, sleep, and stress, we naturally create more stability in our emotions, less irritability, more patience, and more joy. Because when you're not battling brain fog, for example, um, or irritability, or just like literal emotional exhaustion, you can be truly present with the people you love. And think about how valuable that will be during the holiday season, right? Whether, again, you're celebrating this weekend or if it's just upcoming, having the patience to handle holiday stress, and we all have experienced that to some degree, will give us the capacity to create new memories, you know, and feel good about the holidays and have that emotional bandwidth to just appreciate the season and to appreciate those we're with. We all have that relative or person in our lives that creates a little bit more stress, but having this stability and emotional balance will help us deal with that person, those people, and just feel more grounded and calmer and more joyful. That way we can actually enjoy the people around us. I think that is definitely a victory worth being thankful for. So when we talk about lifestyle and lifestyle victories, we're really talking about habits. And when habits become second nature to us, that is a huge win. There's really something very magical that happens when healthy choices stop feeling like work and start feeling like who you've become or who you are. You don't feel like you're white-knuckling your way through the day anymore, trying to remember to get in your meal prep or your movement or your hydration. Because these are just behaviors that have become woven into the fabric of your life. Maybe meal prepping feels easier and is something that you do on a weekly basis. Maybe drinking water has become a really good habit for you and your body is getting the water that it needs. Maybe you find yourself choosing the walk after your dinner instead of sitting on the couch watching TV. Any of these movement rituals that you've adopted are going to just become part of your routine. And I think this is what sustainable transformation really looks like, right? It's not perfection, it's not rigidity. It's just this gradual shift where taking care of yourself becomes as natural as breathing. It's the foundation of lifelong change, and it's worth every ounce of gratitude. Body composition is something that we can't ignore as well, because as you start to lose weight, your body shape is going to change. And it can also be changing even when the scale isn't moving. You may be experiencing inches lost around your hips, your thighs, your waist. And those are all telling a very different story than the number on the scale. Even if that scale is— whether it's moving, moving, or not moving as quickly as you want it to be, you're still going to experience changes to your body. So it's very common to experience up to 2 to 6 inches lost on average around your waist during this initial transformation, or 10 to 25 inches overall on your body. That is a very common loss. In addition to that, it's you can expect to lose 1 or 2 clothing sizes without the scale moving. So that's something else to keep in mind. If you ever find that you, you find yourself getting frustrated again that the scale isn't perhaps moving as quickly or you've hit a plateau, keep in mind that your body is still healing from the inside and this is going to create non-scale victories. And of course, then as you start to return to more of an exercise routine and build lean muscle, the scale may also and not move, it just may stay stable. That's because muscle is denser than fat and takes up less space. So you're actually getting smaller and stronger at the same time, even if the number on the scale doesn't look any different, or if you've reached that sort of metabolic set point. You're probably gonna find more room to breathe in your clothing. Like I said before, your shirts are gonna fit differently, your pants are gonna fit differently. And you may even have that moment where you catch yourself in the mirror and think, oh, you know, like, I look different, something is up. You may just have not had that moment yet, but we all sort of experience that when we just look at ourselves and go, oh yeah, I look different, right? It's because our body is becoming healthier and stronger and leaner. And of course, we can't talk about non-scale victories without addressing sleep. Like, sleep is just such a critical component of body healing. Um, it's— quality sleep isn't just about feeling less tired. It's truly the foundation for everything else in our health journey, because when we're sleeping well, our body can regulate properly our hunger hormones, it can repair tissues, it's consolidating our memories, and it's Managing stress. Better sleep is ultimately going to mean better food choices the next day. It means more energy for movement. It means improved mood and sharper focus and greater resilience when life gets challenging. Sleep is where the magic of recovery and transformation happens. Because if you're— you should be falling asleep now more easily, and you should be staying asleep through the night more often and actually waking up feeling rested. That's no small thing for anyone who's ever experienced any sleep issues in the past. You know how difficult and frustrating it can be when you're not sleeping well. But sleep, good sleep, is your body just telling you it's healing, right? We've all been where we've tossed and turned for hours and our mind is racing. But when we get to that point where we're sleeping through the night and waking up genuinely refreshed, that is just such an amazing thing to be grateful for. And again, since this is the beginning of the busy holiday season, having better sleep means you can show up fully with more patience and more energy, both for yourself and for those around you. So here's sort of the key message when it comes to these non-scale victories. What's really happening in your body, and what's really happening in your body when you're experiencing them, these changes are not superficial. They are evidence of deep, meaningful healing at the metabolic and hormonal level that's taking place. We're looking at metabolic healing, your metabolism is becoming more efficient and better at using fuel and managing energy. Your hormones are starting to balance where your insulin, your cortisol, your thyroid, and other hormones are starting to find their natural rhythm. Your nervous system is regulating and your stress response is calming down, allowing for true rest and recovery. And you're cellular, you're experiencing cellular repair and your cells are healing. Inflammation is decreasing and your body is rebuilding. And keep in mind, again, even when the scale isn't where you want it to be, progress is real. All these things can't be ignored. These are signs that your reset is working. If any of you are in the maintenance portion of the program, this is also really worth celebrating. It's not uncommon for people to have spent years either, uh, yo-yo dieting or in chronic stress or with metabolic dysfunction. And sometimes our bodies just need time to trust that this is a new way of living and that it's permanent. And the period of maintenance is where your body can recalibrate and heal and prepare for its next phase of transformation, its new foundation, literally. Maintaining your goals beyond that phase is a victory in itself as well, because it takes consistency and it takes mindfulness and also gratitude, just to keep showing up for yourself. And I think it's also really important to remember that progress isn't linear, right? It's never in a straight line. You're going to have ups and you're going to have downs. Some weeks you'll have breakthrough moments. Other weeks you'll just be grateful for any small bit of consistency. But both are worth celebrating. The energy, the mood, the sleep quality, all these lifestyle changes you're experiencing These are the victories that will sustain you for life. They're not— it's not always just about fitting into a certain size or having a certain number on the scale. It's really just about feeling alive in your body and feeling good in your body. So I invite you to ask yourself, what non-scale victories have you experienced, if you have started, that you're grateful for, and then to carry that forward as motivation as you continue through the program. And just to wrap things up, I know again, not everyone is celebrating Thanksgiving, um, but this season just offers us a beautiful opportunity to pause and recognize the incredible progress you've been making. Progress that goes beyond any number on the scale, and your body has been working tirelessly for you, healing and changing and adapting to new habits. And that's what's going to carry you through the day with increased strength. Be thankful for the new energy you will experience, that energy to thrive that just lets you fully engage. And be thankful and grateful for the emotional balance you will experience. Celebrate your newfound patience, your newfound presence with others, and the genuine joy you may be experiencing more consistently. And of course, celebrate those sustainable habits, habits you've started to build. Honor the ones that are becoming second nature to you because these will ultimately be your true foundation moving forward beyond this program. And I hope that you can take those through the holiday season with you as well. Thank you. Hi, Rajpa, welcome. So I just invite anyone to post in the chat or feel free to unmute yourselves if you have any comments, questions. Again, this is an open Q&A, so anything you— any questions you may have about the program is great as well. And again, apologies for anyone who is late. Who wasn't able to get in earlier. I was there. I don't know what was happening. It was recording. I have no idea. One of those tech glitches.
Hi. Can I— Hi. Good afternoon, all. I'm so sorry because I just traveled up to New York and I wasn't able to get in on time, so I'll hopefully catch up on the recording. But I have a quick question here. So these presentations, like last week I did the one with you on hydration, which I enjoyed, and it was very lovely. So my question in grasping all of this, these presentations, I know they're available in recordings where we could go back and look at them. Are we taking this and sharing this with our patients? How are we going about translating this to patient care?
I believe that you can share them. I know that you are a licensee with the program. Is that correct? Yeah. So there is a YouTube channel that has all of these replays available. You're welcome to share them with your patients.
And what's that? What's that YouTube? It's like Sachin something or so.
Let me find the link for you.
I mean, we don't necessarily have to give them the slides and everything, but if we learn as physicians and health coach and what have you, naturopaths. And so you're taking this and sort of digesting it and spitting it out back to them in whatever form. All right. That, that should be the essence of it, I think.
Yeah. I mean, I think for these, we like to provide something more than just an open Q&A on occasion. And on occasion we will do that. We will just You know, we don't have a presentation for you today. Here is just an opportunity to ask questions if you have any. But we like to give a little extra value, which is why we're creating these presentations. So you can absolutely pick and choose what you want to share with your clients. They're welcome to go and watch those replays, um, you know, whatever, in whatever way you want it to work, or whatever works for your particular client base, I think.
Okay. All right. So if you— I am— you could kind of share that YouTube channel. I'll make a note of it. And then in my time, I'll go back to the ones that I may have missed. I don't think I missed much last week I was on. And this one, I came in very late. So that'll be helpful when you—
of course. Of course. Here is a link to the channel. Let me put it in the chat for you so that we have— you have it handy. There are quite a few even from, uh, you know, the past year and the year prior, so there's lots of good information in here, um, and it's just a, just a nice extra to have, I think. I know next week, just for anyone who's still here, that Deepa has arranged for a guest speaker. I'm not sure exactly what the subject will be, but there have been guest speakers in the past, so that's kind of a nice—
Okay, thank you. That's it for me for now.
All right, thank you. Thank you, Rajpa. Hi, Jill. Hi, I just have a quick question and then I have to run, but I'm brand new to the program. I'm waiting for my box to arrive and I've been getting emails that just say modules are now available. So like, how much should I be doing? How quickly? Or what's the best flow to get in? You can— so those modules unlock gradually. So you're welcome to go through as many as are unlocked at the moment. The ones at the beginning that you are likely unlocked for you are great preparation, telling you how to set up your kitchen, giving you some tips on setting up, you know, your Oura Ring when it comes, etc. So They're intended to go at your own pace, but I found personally, if, if you're not keeping up with them, they can get ahead of you. So I would suggest, if you do have the time, to go through them, um, just to keep up. And they unlock approximately every 3 days once you get to a certain point. At the very beginning, I think it's just as you're completing them and marking them complete, the next one will unlock for you because we want you to have all that pre-program preparation information, and then as you go a little bit further through, they're timed a little bit differently. Okay, great. Thank you. You're welcome. Any other questions, comments? Well, if not, I, um, I'm very appreciative of your patience for the technical glitch at the beginning. Um, this replay will be available on that playlist, uh, link, a YouTube channel that's in the chat if you want to go back and watch, as well as previous replays. And then, as I mentioned, next week there is a guest speaker lined up for this Q&A session, so don't miss that one. It's going to be great. And I wish you all a Happy Thanksgiving if you're in Canada. If not, I just wish you a wonderful thank— weekend, and hope to see you next week. Bye for now.
