Weekly MRP Q & A with Alice [May 12, 2023]

This is a transcript of a YouTube live Q&A hosted by Alice (Living Light Metabolic Coach) on May 12, 2023, where program participants (Preeti, Cynthia, Jan, Mary, LaRonda and others) share gratitude, personal progress, and ask practical questions about the Metabolic Reset Program (MRP). Key topics: technical troubleshooting (Oura Ring sign-in), loading/release/maintenance phases (including recommended calorie targets for loading), hunger management strategies (hydration, warm lemon water, chewing, spray), food questions (cassava classification, gluten-free pasta, pesto), meal-prep challenges, and mindset/behavioral shifts. The tone is supportive and community-focused, with actionable tips and personal success stories (e.g., Jan's 10-pound loss).
Chapters
Hello. Hello, ladies. Happy Friday, everyone. Hope you all are enjoying your week so far and the end of the week or near end of the week. Lovely to see you, Jan.
I'm in a bad lighting situation, but I'm not at my office, so.
So it's kind of like pinky on you.
Yeah. You want me to shut it off?
No, it looks great. We can see you and that's all that matters. Okay. It's all good. And welcome, Cynthia. Thank you. How are your days going so far?
It's all right. I'm working out of town, so.
Does that happen often?
Every. Usually every other month for a week.
And how long or for a week? You're saying you're staying there?
Yeah.
So how has that been like, been able to do the program alongside kind of traveling?
That's been challenging because I've got like 15 hour plus days, you know, driving to clinics on clinic all day and then driving back and working on paperwork, so.
Oh, wow.
Some days I'm not getting my meals.
Do you have designated breaks throughout the day?
No.
Oh my gosh.
Schedule me back to back, so. So that I'm not in the lag, you know, they'll just put me back to back, so.
Oh, boy. Well, I hope that they integrate some breaks at some point. That seems very unsustainable.
Yeah, I'll have to request that for future schedules.
I would love that for you. It's very important to have those breaks and just rest time.
Yeah. Standing in a clinic on cement floors all day is not conducive.
Does nobody any favors, that's for sure. Well, I hope that it moves in the right direction. I hope that gets better from here on in. It will not be a place that you will reside in for forever, let's say.
Nope. I'll be back home next week and back on schedule.
Beautiful. Beautiful. Hi, Preeti. Hi, Sophia. Hi, Jennifer. Thank you for joining today, ladies. I would love to start off and as per usual, I would love if we shared some gratitude or found something that we were really proud of accomplishing, whether it be this week, whether it be through this reset program. So far, something that made you kind of stop and really express some gratitude. Maybe it came at a place where you didn't necessarily expect it. Maybe you surprised yourself in some ways. So feel free to unmute yourself and share that. I love hearing voices. I love seeing your faces. If you're feel more comfortable writing that into the chat, I am more than happy to receive gratitude in whatever form you decide to express yourself with. So I will start myself. And I am really grateful for YouTube. It is such an amazing resource. And today actually one of my cuffs on my pants came undone. It's such such a small, trivial thing and I definitely, I don't have any coordination. I don't really have many skills in the homemaking department, but I do have skills in googling and finding things on YouTube. So I went on YouTube and I found a quick tutorial and I was able to fix my pants. And so previous me would have, you know, maybe tossed the pants, donated them at this point. But new me understands that there's a life cycle to things. You want to give things life and you want to also be open to the fact of change and to learn new skills and to adapt and feel more empowered in your skill set, which is very similar to what this program is hopefully teaching you. All to do is to be more empowered on how to take care of yourself from a lifestyle perspective, from a nutrition perspective, from a sleep perspective, all the above. So that is my huge gratitude for today and I would love to open up the floor and to see whatever else came up for anybody.
I can share.
Yeah, I would love for you to share.
I just, I'm grateful because I just joined the program on Wednesday and so I took the leap and, and so this is new to me but I'm very excited and, and grateful that you know, there's something being offered. So I'm looking forward to my journey.
Beautiful. We're so happy to have you here and thank you for committing to yourself. Thank you for playing all out. Know the pursuit of you being your absolute happiest and feeling empowered and jumping all in. So we're so happy to have you here.
Preeti, thanks.
Awesome. Thank you so much for sharing. Jan is saying grateful for my friend that lets me park at her home instead of paying for hotels on my trip. We love an amazing friend. Awesome, awesome. Love that she's able to support you and you get to spend some, some quality time afterwards. So it makes it that much more instead of it being such a work centered trip, you get to actually have some laughs, have some connection, have some unplugged time, which is beautiful. Sophia is saying gratitude also for a friend that took me out yesterday and gave me a treat. I wonder what kind of treat she gave you. I'm curious. Feel free if you wanted to share. If not, that is totally fine. But treat is very ambiguous if you will. So I don't want to assume anything. So I'd love to hear it from your words. If you're open to that. Awesome. So Deepa is wrapped up for today. She kind of had something last minute come up, so I would love to do. Oh, let's see here. We were out on a very nice place, but no sweets involved. Okay. Beautiful. See, treats can be very much activity based, be very much, you know, friendship based in so many ways. I think think it's such a treat to be able to connect. Honestly, that is a huge treat in my terms. So I'm so happy that you had a beautiful outing with your friend and they love you. Gratitude for my coach who keeps me on track of my journey. Yes, I believe Annalisa is your coach. She is so fabulous. She is such a ray of sunshine, such a wealth of knowledge. She's walking encyclopedia if you ask me. So I love that you are able to feel that through that daily accountability Cynthia is sharing that she's grateful for. Everyone's grateful for our friends today. What a beautiful community we have and beautiful friendships we formed. Who gave me tickets to Frozen so I can take my granddaughter to the play? That's so sweet. Oh, that is such a beautiful gift. I hope you have an amazing time with your granddaughter.
We did.
Oh, you did already. You left. How did. Yeah, you liked it?
Oh, it was amazing.
Oh, beautiful.
Very amazing. With the Rev without my granddaughter, it was amazing, but she was with me. It made it extra special.
Oh, yeah.
Frozen is, you know, such a hit with so many people. Not even just, you know, kind of like the. The younger audience. I feel like that one just really blew a lot of people away. And the songs are so, so a little bit too addictive if you ask me. Once they get in your head, they don't leave.
Right? Right.
Hi, Veruca. Nice to see you as well. Oh, I don't believe I can hear you there. I know you're unmuted, but I'm not. Oh, there we go. Perfect. I heard your audio there. Nice to have you. Awesome. So I would love to jump in and start with any questions that are coming up for anybody. I know that we're all at different points and different times of the Metabolic reset. So whatever is coming up. There is no topics that are off limits. So anything pertaining to you, anything pertaining to the program, you know, maybe even some mental shifts. Whatever it is. I am here for all of that, so feel free to ask away. I have a question. Awesome. Let's hear it.
I am having trouble signing into the Oura Ring app.
Okay.
It says that my I use the strong password and it says my password doesn't match. It's like it's automatically filled in. How can it not match? So I haven't been able to sign into that yet.
Okay. Do you know which email you are using? Is it the same email that you have on your Practice Better account?
Yes. And I've asked them to resend me a password or send me a code and it's not. It's just not working. So I don't know where to start with. Maybe I should just delete the whole account and start over again or.
Good question. So yes, definitely go ahead and try to reset. So delete the app and then try to log back into it. Maybe it's an outdated version you might have on your app. I don't suspect that being the case, but sometimes it works. Today I was on a call and the clients audio wasn't connecting and then she left the call and came back in and it connected perfectly. Fine. Technology has a mind of its own if you ask me. If that doesn't work, then I can loop you into our support center. So I'll loop you into the email. They can look into it on the back end and see if there is something indeed that's kind of going haywire behind the scenes. So keep me posted.
Okay, thanks.
Yeah, my pleasure. Jan reached your 10 pound loss today. Congratulations. That's huge. How are your clothes fitting?
I'm still not to my goal, but that's a milestone for me.
That's a big one. Yeah, beautiful. I'm sure it feels a little bit more spacious, a little bit more tent like if you will, which is awesome. Congratulations.
Thank you.
I'm at the end of today's the last day of day six, week six. Thank God.
And how does it feel coming off of the release phase, now entering maintenance which in my opinion is the most exciting part of the whole program. It's where you really get to customize your own unique meal plan.
Yeah, I really want to see what I'm sensitive to. That's a huge goal of mine. So I'm going to get my aura ring any day now and be testing that. I started losing. I couldn't do the program initially because I was traveling, but I did the intermittent fasting and I lost some weight with doing that before starting the program. So I lost 20 pounds counting that, which wasn't even my goal. My goal was working on my digestion, my sleep and my pain. So the downside is my pants keep falling off.
Looks like you're in for a new wardrobe now. I hope you I was pulling out.
Other Other pants and, and other things. And I am wearing some things that I haven't worn in a while, which is really cool.
Awesome.
But I thought I could wear the pants I wore out last night and they kept falling down.
So it's a good problem to have if you. It's a good problem to have if you don't mind shedding or releasing the extra plush. Sometimes it's, it's warranted, sometimes it's not. Depending on, of course, your goals. And the amazing part is of this program is that it really just focuses in. Around health and a healthy body isn't going to necessarily carry more than it needs in terms of resources, in terms of energies, in terms of, you know, so many, you know, mental energies as well, or anything that is no longer serving it. So I'm grateful that you're focusing on those non scale victories because that's really the meat and potatoes, if you will, of this program.
Yeah. Not that I didn't have it to lose or I wouldn't have lost it. So I just was looking, I was wondering about cassava. I was looking at some grain free chips and it has a little coconut which I'll be testing. Coconut oil. It has cassava. So it's just a starchy vegetable. Is that what we consider it?
Yeah, exactly. You can, exactly. You can introduce it after the fat section. So the fats would come first and then any sort of starchy vegetables that weren't included in the non free vegetable list. So cassava would definitely be in there. Something like sweet potato. You could do beets, you could do parsnips, all of that jazz.
Sounds good.
Enjoy.
I wanted to ask a question.
Yeah, let's hear it.
So I haven't started. I'll probably be starting next week, just waiting for my welcome kit and everything. I did review some of the, you know, the manual, the intro and, and I'm excited. I'm also, I have to admit, a little bit scared because I, I do enjoy eating and I get hungry and I want some honest opinions on how hungry people felt during the first few weeks.
Beautiful. Yeah. If anybody is open to sharing their feedback, what they experience the first couple days. First couple weeks, I definitely have some feedback on my end, but I would love to hear some more recent feedback. So whoever is open to sharing, go ahead. We got Jan, we got Cynthia.
Yeah. Who do you want to go first?
Cynthia.
Okay, let's do Cynthia.
I, I'm on my. I did the preload and I'm on the second day of the release phase and after Preloading. It was a nice break not to have to eat so much food. And I don't. When I feel hungry in the morning, I drink some warm lemon water and that seems to settle my stomach. And then I'm not hungry. And I just had lunch at 11, so.
Okay.
I feel good. You know, I feel full now. Satisfied, but not hungry because there's so much food. I mean, it's just I actually wanted to stop eating halfway through my lunch and I thought, no, I probably should eat this.
Oh, wow, that's good to hear.
Yeah.
The hard part is getting the recipes and getting that started and.
Yeah.
Buying the food ahead and getting it all in your fridge.
Right. Okay.
Yeah.
I found that after the loading, it was like, oh, God, I didn't want to eat at all after those two full days. Just too much food. Okay, then. I haven't had hunger as you, you know, what I had to learn was to chew, chew, chew, chew, chew. I had, I had to make sure I had at least 30 minutes, if not more, to sit for my meals. I didn't swallow anything till it was mush. And, you know, that's a whole bowl of salad and, you know, protein and maybe a vegetable other than my salad. And again, if I counted, even if I was finding myself because I was one of these that worked on my, you know, ate while I was on the run all the time.
Yeah.
You know, I'm at work, I grab up, grab something because I've never sit down. So if you concentrate on giving yourself time to enjoy that meal, totally, you know, enjoy that meal. Then I also found that having my water, or especially warm lemon water, that was always my go to. Okay to, you know, because hydration, I, you know, like you've always said, hydration is sometimes what you feel and dehydration instead of hunger. And so concentrating on having more fluids available was also a big thing for me because of my, you know, so that's good advice.
Thank you.
Yeah. But it really, that makes it so you don't get that hungry.
Okay, good to hear.
Yeah.
Thank you so much for sharing.
I was shocked that I wasn't hungry, really.
Okay.
From.
I eat at noon and I eat at 7ish. And yeah, you know, there's some hunger, but it's, it's not like, ah, I gotta eat something. It's like, it's like a inconvenience. But more than the problem is eating this food. Like it takes for, for not having wonderful meals to enjoy. Like, I am a good cook. There's a lot of prep of chopping up all these vegetables and having all these vegetables available and we eat a lot of the vegetables. So like having all this prepping, it, it really is quite, it takes quite a lot. Okay.
I, I kind of do a lot of it already, so hopefully it's not too different for me. But we'll, we'll see how that goes.
And definitely have to take time for the meal.
Okay. That's my, that's my downfall. I'm a fasty hair, fast chewer. Okay. So, yeah, yeah.
Thank you so much for all of those insights. And, and yeah, so to echo a lot of that coming off of the loading days, I find like two reactions mostly happen to people. So the majority are like, I can't look at another piece of food for like a month at this point. I'm so stuffed to the brim. But it does sometimes create a little bit more hunger initially, only because you've expanded your stomach quite a bit with.
The loading days when I eat a lot. Yeah, yeah.
And so that's completely normal to experience. But the metabolic reset spray, it's really going to help curb a lot of those cravings. So you're going to feel a little bit of discomfort potentially, but it'll quickly fade within a day or two. So that is to be expected. Yeah.
Okay, that's good to hear.
Yeah, you can keep. Yeah, you're welcome. And, and also to like Jan said, really focus on hydration a lot of the time. The, the hunger is actually a dehydration response, so that's important.
That's my case. I have a problem with drinking water, so.
Exactly.
Yeah.
Yeah. Sleep is also really important. Stress is going to be really important too. So those two, making sure you're taking note and seeing if any one of those is maybe imbalanced ever so slightly and then doubling up as much as you want on the free vegetables. They are there to enjoy. And yeah, many times over, I haven't been able to finish all the, all the free veggies in my plate. It's towards the middle and towards the end. It's impossible.
Okay, good to hear all that. Thank you guys all so much for sharing.
Yeah, our pleasure. We're excited for you to get started. It seems like a lot, but really focusing on the food lists initially is what I would say first and foremost. Everything else can incrementally increase as you go through it. Progress over perfection always. Jan is saying. I also use cinnamon and turmeric in my water to help with taste. Yes. So a lot of people don't necessarily enjoy stevia or even have stevia or monk fruit. So you can use those as sweetener alternatives on the program. Sometimes I don't like to promote it too much. If you want to use it then it's definitely better than grabbing just, you know, regular sugar. But it can still sometimes elicit more of a hunger from your body because it's mimicking the sugar like feel and taste. So your body might crave more introducing that. So as a kind of a little hack, I like to put in cinnamon in my coffee and cinnamon has a naturally a light sweetness to it. So it's going to be really tasty in your coffee especially if you like kind of those warming spices. But it's also good at revving up your metabolism and it's also, it also has blood sugar stabilizing properties. So it's kind of a win, win, win on all those fronts and it's a great antioxidant as well. So including in a little bit of cinnamon turmeric is amazing at anti inflammatory. So that is just a winning combo in my opinion. I found some stevia that has dextrose and stevia. Is that still okay to eat? So I would say in moderation I would not use it for frequently whatsoever. If you can then switch over to its pure form, that would be best. Or using even a monk fruit. But I'm always a proponent if it's not, you know, absolutely terrible for you. Use it before, you know, you discard it and then buy a better alternative the next time around. Any questions coming up for anyone today? You know, we had Mary and Denise join a little bit earlier as well too. Welcome ladies.
Thank you.
How are you doing, Mary?
Good. I'm just starting my second round so I'm starting loading days today.
Oh, good luck.
Still have a lot to eat. I didn't my first loading. I didn't really eat as much. I don't think. I still find it really hard to, you know, think of eating all this stuff when I want to lose weight. So it's so I'm kind of trying to look at it like a treat day, eat everything I like kind of thing and try to be as healthy as I can.
Yeah, it definitely makes the loading days more difficult the second time around because you, you know, a lot of people like to, they start to enjoy all of the foods they love, the way that they feel. It kind of goes against where your mind is in that moment in time and yeah, just view it as a, as an indulgence. Pretend maybe you're visiting a wedding. And this is food that you have to eat or not that you ever have to eat any sort of food, but it's a celebration, if you will. Yeah. And grazing throughout the entire day, I find really helps. And sneaking in different oils, extra oil on your salads or on top of your vegetables so you're not really feeling like the chewing and the fullness as much. It makes it a little bit easier.
Oh, that's good.
Yeah, that's good advice.
Yeah, Lots of nuts. Nut butters are also really tasty and good. You can put that in a smoothie and so you don't have to have a large volume of the smoothie, but a large volume of it could be the nut butter. So that's the only way I was able to, to get through those loading days. So those are some of my tips.
And for the loading days, if you like, let's just say if I, if I was at 3,000 calories both days, is that, is that going to really impact things a lot or. Because I mean, I guess really I've only been having, where I've been on the program 10 weeks, I've. I've have been having a lot less calories. So it is going to be a bit of a shock to my system, I think.
Yeah, for sure. So I would say that there's even the option of doing a soft load. So what that looks like is three to four days prior to doing the actual big loads, the two main loads, you want to eat three meals as much as you can throughout that period of time. And then the loading days, it really does help set you up for a greater release so you're replenishing your fat stores. So I definitely would recommend trying to get as, as close to. If you have about 20 plus pounds to release remaining, I would say trying your best to get close to 3,600, 4,000. That's really pushing it without getting nauseous, of course. So definitely respect your body and listen to it intuitively, feed it as you need to. But you're going to have the greatest success by loading up initially. And yeah, it's tough, but the rest of it's going to be smooth sailing, right?
Yeah, it's a big mindset shift. That's what.
Yeah, yeah, yeah, totally. It goes against everything you assume when it comes to releasing weight. You're like, my gosh, I'm going to eat all this food and then I'm so still going to release weight. Like, what is going on? Yeah, but it's exactly, you know, Kind of like what, what Jan said in her comments suggested military survival rations that are high in calories but not volume for the loading days. And it's kind of like a hibernation that your body is going to. So it's like a, like a bear basically getting ready for the winter. It's loading up on a lot, a lot of fat, dense foods so that it keeps it sustained as it's in that hibernation period. So the more sustenance we have and the more fat that we're able to kind of load up on and, you know, have in our stores, the better that hibernation period will go.
Thanks.
Yeah, my pleasure. Did you have any suggestions, Jan, for what, what military and survival rations your, your friends suggested?
She told me just that I could probably go to the local army surplus, you know, or somewhere like that and get them. I happen to have a partner who loves to have all this food stored away, you know, for the, for the big bad days, I guess, you know, I'm like, okay, whatever. And it's just small pack foil packets that you mix with hot water and generally they're higher in calories, so you can find them online if, you know, unless you've got a local. I live in the mountains of North Georgia, so we have a lot of places where you can do survivalist things. You know, people are afraid of the doomsdays, so I have access to that stuff.
That's awesome.
I didn't even know that that was a product that was available. That's so over my head. So thank you for putting that on my radar. At least I know where I'm bunking out if there's a zombie apocalypse. Any questions coming up for anybody in terms of maybe before beginning in terms of the loading days, the release days, how to best do maintenance life after. Any one of those are fair game.
I'll ask another question about the loading days. What about pasta and I guess Brad, because I've been really avoiding them and I know you're really not supposed to do a lot of gluten, but what about the gluten free? Are those good for the loading days? Sorry, I've got a dog barking here.
That's okay. We love animals here. So in terms of the loading days, I would say if, if you wanted to test it out, you can definitely go ahead and do so. So those are two days where really nothing is off limits. So you can definitely go ahead and see how you feel on the gluten and on the pasta. My kind of experience with clients is Once you go off of gluten and some sources of dairy, it's a little bit harder to introduce. I guess you notice how your body is reacting to it more, so. So I would say if you haven't tried it out already, definitely go ahead and do so and you can definitely load on those kind of foods. What came to mind as you were sharing was even using something like a pesto, so something that's very high in fat. I know that has a little bit of cheese in it, but making sure it's a high quality. So definitely loading up on a lot of, you know, like a fat, dense sort of sauce that you're enjoying that pasta with, if anything. If you enjoy it, of course.
No, it's interesting that you said that because I have pesto in the fridge, so.
I knew it. I looked into your fridge, Mary. Yes, Alfredo as well. Exactly. And if, even if you have the time to make a homemade Alfredo and using more quality ingredients, I know that the loading days are already, you know, quite a time suck of your day, but if you're into it, you can make it more high quality and make it super tasty as well. So by all means, great suggestion. Jan. Lovely to see you. Laronda.
Hello.
Hello. Are you currently doing around?
I am, I am. I'm doing a losing phase after a very, very long time of struggling with, with really being committed and doing the program properly. So I was a little bit nervous, but I'm in a good headspace this time. Probably the best since the first losing phase that I've done and it's going really well. So I'm very, I'm very pleased.
Beautiful way to be here, way to, you know, stay plugged in and, and go all in again. You know, there is no failure in any of it. The failure is really when we stop trying. And so I'm grateful that your mindset is so positive and that you are here and may this be the absolute best round yet that you've experienced.
I. I agree.
Amazing.
Do you have any questions or any place that we can. We can. I can support you that you found kind of resistance with or wanted more information on?
Actually, no, I mean, honestly, I've been.
Around for a long time, so I.
Have gotten so much information from the calls and I have the how to. It was just difficult following through consistently. But I'm really pleased, actually surprised by myself this round. And we went out to dinner yesterday for a birthday dinner for a friend and I was like, ah. But I was able to order. I ordered salmon because that's the only fish that they had that wasn't deep fried. But I had salmon, I had steamed broccoli. I had a salad that it's been a long time since I've eaten out mindfully, so I had to pick the croutons and the cheese out. But my husband ate them for me. I put them on a little plate and he just ate them. But it was good. It turned out really well. And I actually, I lost a little bit yesterday. So I. I walked ahead of time because I KN knew it was going to be that kind of place. And I was really careful. I just had water. I didn't eat any of the hot buttery bread that was sitting in front of me. So I was really pleased that that helped me to know that I absolutely got this and I can manage those kind of situations without going off the rails. So I was excited.
That's awesome. And way to go for aligning with your goals and knowing that this is more important to you than any, you know, let's say craving that's right in front of you or maybe something that you would have possibly indulged in in the past. You were on such a new and rewarding journey doesn't mean that it's not going to come with a little bit of discomfort sometimes, but that is what's truly going to give you the lasting results that you deserve and that you're working so hard towards. So I'm cheering you on every step of the way.
Thank you, Al.
You got this.
I found that if I concentrated on changing my habits rather than thinking about the food I can't have, that's one of the goals that I really had to focus on because I was a chip eater or a quick. When you're in the hospital and they only have junk food machines, that's what you get, you know, kind of I need a pick me up and that's what you grab, you know, so it was really a mindset for me to get away from those. And then I found if I thought more about my lifestyle changes that I wanted rather than the food itself, I could concentrate that way much better.
Yeah, that's really good. I mean, and that's, that's really apt because I think that's what's different partially this time is that I was thinking about, okay, these situations are going to come up in life. What are you going to do about it? And I was like, well, if I wanted to, I could have some bread. It wouldn't be the end of the world. But I don't really want it. It's just a habit to grab it. So that's really, I mean, you worded that perfectly. I didn't have that wording in my head, but that's exactly, I think the key to being successful and being consistent and sticking with it. So that's awesome.
Amazing. Yeah, it's such a, such a game changer insight and it's really, I found, helpful to me to really remind myself of the why. You know, especially in social situations where there is a lot of temptation, there is a lot of eye candy, if you will. Your eyes are feasting well before your stomach has a chance to. And what you normally habitually might grab, gravitate towards. You're like, but how do I feel after I consume this food? And it's not even just like about myself, but in, in my body or, you know, about the choices that I'm making. And it's, you know, sometimes it takes that, that kind of reminder or that kind of extra step to remind yourself of that. I think physical anchors are really important to have throughout the program. So one thing I did was change my phone background. So something that you're constantly looking at that you bring with you everywhere, I don't think anybody unfortunately, unfortunately lives without a phone at this point. And so every time you look at it, you want to feel inspired, you want to feel reminded of something that makes you happy or keeps you on track or, you know, using a physical anchor, such as a piece of jewelry or having a post it a sticky note on your bathroom mirror, let's say, or on your fridge with something happy and motivational or a picture of your family or of yourself when you really, really loved the skin you were in, regardless of, let's say, the number that the scale reflected. And it's really anchoring back to the why that I find makes the lasting change. And your why is always more deeper rooted than physical, let's say manifestations, if you will. And so it's knowing that you're choosing to feel amazing, you're happily doing this program for a reason. And you get to fuel your body with such beautiful, nourishing, healthy, vibrant foods. And so it's not going to be second nature to think all of that, you know, instantaneously. But slow and steady wins the race. So I hear. So, yeah, those are a couple of things that have kind of helped anchor me in those moments. And then also knowing that friends and family, they're going to sometimes have their own opinions about it and that's okay too. They do not have to Align with the journey that you are on, because that is your journey. You get to decide whatever your journey looks like, nobody can do that for you, which I found really helpful. As we've talked about in previous calls, if you come from a background where food is a love language, it's very difficult to refuse food. And that's a lot of culture's way of loving on you. But you get to write your own story. You get to show love in different ways and open people up to different means of love and acceptance and of connection. And you might be surprised at how they come to. They come to different realizations, and they get curious about you and your life, too. So I know that's a little bit off topic there, but felt the need to share it, so I hope that that resonated. Awesome. Preeti. My background is a lovely background off of Pinterest, so I. I pinned this on Pinterest, and I just think it's so much nicer than what I typically have going on behind me. And I'm very much into plants, botanicals, green, all that jazz. So that is where I got my background. They have a lot of different cool, professional backgrounds, you know, kind of any background you want, and I think you might be able to Google it as well. So I just typed in zoom background and chose the one I liked the best.
I think one thing that really helped me is that I noticed that, you know, when I start a new plan or when I was trying to be better, I would always. There was always little things I would say, okay, well, I'll just have that today, or I'll just have this today. Or, you know, so I go out, okay, well, I'll just have this little piece of bread or I'll just. And I found with this plan, I said, okay, it's only six weeks. For six weeks, I'm just going to. I'm not going to have any of these littles. Oh, I'll do a little bit of this.
Or.
And I. That really helped me just focus on not cheating, I guess, really. But I didn't even look at it as cheating. I just. This was the plan I was following, and it was for six weeks. That's kind of the approach I took.
Yeah, beautiful approach, Mary and Exactly.
It's.
It's. That reminds me, actually of a video I watched somewhat recently similarly to that topic, but a little bit inverted of. I'm gonna. I forget the. The client or the author's name, but he was basically talking about how his father struggled with addict his, you know, story to become sober. And how he would promise him his son. He's like, I can't promise you that I'm going to stay sober, but I will for one more day. And each day he would. He told himself, one more day, I'm going. I'm committing to myself with this. And so there's this relief of pressure that you put on yourself to be perfect or to get it right every single time. Focus on this one day. What is one thing this one day I can do that's going to be even just a toe in the right direction, doesn't even need to be a full foot. As long as you take those strides in whatever scale you feel comfortable in, eventually you will climb that mountain. You will climb that staircase and allowing yourself to just say, this day I choose to do this. Tomorrow I get to decide whatever else. And it really just helps you to be more present, I find as well. Oh, perfect. You got your scale delivered. That was a little sign. Perfect timing. We actually planned that that was supposed to happen at the same time as this call.
Yeah.
Awesome. I'm excited for you to get started. So if nobody else has a question, I actually have a question for you all. I would love to know, or even just have all of you reflect on your own time. What have you learned about your body through this process? What about your body has surprised you? Or maybe you noticed a bit of resistance in some sort of ways? Maybe you noticed reactions not necessarily physically, maybe emotionally, maybe mentally that came up during this process, during this challenge that you've happily embarked on, you know, for a greater tomorrow, a greater future, a greater self. If anybody feels like they would like to share, I am always happy and open. But I would love for you all, at the very least, to take some time to reflect on what have you noticed in terms of your body through this program?
I've noticed that my body responds very quickly to corrections in my eating and, you know, physical movement. I felt just really poorly physically before I started this round at aches and, you know, just really funky stuff going on. But almost immediately when I started the losing phase and I started noticing those aches and pains and things were gone. It's easier for me to move around. I don't have the joint problems in different things. And just. It's like my body was just like, oh, thank God. We've been waiting for this. Get it together. So. But I was just really surprised. I mean, it's just very quickly, within the first week, almost immediately, I started to feel so, so much better. And I was Just amazed that really sticking with it, I'm not dying from hunger, especially when I'm a little bit hungry, going to bed. I think when I wake up in the morning, it is going to be all bad, but it's, it's not. I wake up and it's fine and I'm fasting and it's not a problem. So even after all these years of just mistreating and not really honoring myself, my body's responded very quickly to the turnaround. So I just was really surprised and pleased by that.
That's amazing. I love how resilient it is and how quickly you're able to reap those benefits and how they get to compound over time. Your body was just like, like I've been waiting for this. That's so beautiful. And it's, it's, it's beautiful to see how adaptable we are and how much we've been adapting and you know, still powering through, still enduring all the, you know, responsibilities, all the different commitments that we've had in life with all of, you know, with, with kind of like this, this, you know, I don't want to say baggage, but let's say baggage that our body has been having to deal with and to bring along everywhere you go, how relieving it is to have that. So I'm so grateful for those insights for you. LaRonda. Cynthia, I hear, I see your comment here. I was surprised that my body wasn't very hungry for the first two release days. Yeah, your body has made such amazing stores of all that food and has been really able to harness its wonderful energy and nutrition. And it's like, don't worry, I got this. You don't got fat coming in. We got stores for that, don't you worry. Which is so beautiful. You get to really appreciate how your body shows up for you each and every single day. Regardless of how you show up for impact it sometimes, which is, I think so beautiful, so humbling in a lot of ways. So I'm really grateful for that insight for you. Mary. Saying, I found my body reacted positively to not having breakfast. I know that's a big one for a lot of people. They're like, wow, fasting has changed the rhythm of my life. Like, oh my gosh, I get to save time, I get to feel better, I get to be more energized. But I'm eliminating a full on meal that I used to think was such a staple. And you never know. You, you don't know what you don't know until you know, so it's always important to try new and different things. So that's awesome. I hope you are able to feel so energized and find other things that get to honor you in that time that you have spent cooking and prepping and cleaning and all that jazz. Where can I find the link for this meeting each week? I got it for the first email, but it is somewhere else. So this specific Q A you're referring to Cynthia. Yes. So I will put the link in right in the comments but. And you can save this for future reference. But you can also find it in the Facebook group. Are you in the support Facebook group?
No.
Okay, let me send over that link to you right now.
I tried signing up for it, but that's something else that didn't work yet. So.
All right, here you go. So this, this is the support group. So that is where we drop in a lot of different content, random information to things pertaining to health to bring more awareness as we ourselves become more aware of different things, different habits. And so the link to the meeting will be found in, let me see here, it's in the top banner. So where you see the picture of myself and Deepa, there's also the www.zoomwithdeepa.com okay, thank you. My pleasure. Jan is saying here focused on my old self defeating behaviors and why I let my mind chatter go to bad behaviors. My two minds still argue but I want the lifestyle, lifestyle change for the remaining years I have and to be healthy rather than struggling. Yes. Beautiful. And it's so important to, to bring awareness to that narration and sometimes you know where it started from, where it came, was it always there? Was it something that happened at a certain point in time in our lives and how that doesn't mean that it's the narration for your life today, doesn't mean that it's serving what you want, what you need as of right now and moving forward and you get to at the very least start filling it with alternative thoughts and maybe some more positive thoughts that aren't self defeating and that lead to those, let's say acts of non self care, if you want to put it so. That's awesome. That's such a huge awareness and that's again truly what's going to help reframe your mindset moving forward. That's what creates that lasting change, is understanding what's triggering those self defeating habits and behaviors and then going upstream. So that's huge. That's such a huge win. That's something that you can't physically See, which is one of the like biggest victories of this program is really allowing yourself, giving yourself the time to, to realize that. So I'm really grateful that you've had that insight. Thank you so much everyone for sharing. It's lovely to be in this community with you all. It's so refreshing, honestly. It's so heart centered. You all are working so hard on yourselves, for yourselves, for your loved ones. So I truly am so grateful and I appreciate all of you so much. I'm sure all of your loved ones do too.
We appreciate you too.
Thank you, Laranda. It's my pleasure. Truly. Awesome. Any questions or insights coming up for anybody before we wrap up today? For today we have a couple more minutes, so I'd love to take a couple of last things and if not, you know, that's okay too. No pressure.
I just wanted to mention for me that these calls are very helpful. Just knowing it's in my calendar that, you know, it's part of the program that I committed to and you know, when I come on and I enjoy them but I think it helps with that accountability as well.
Beautiful. Yes. And that's, that's exactly why we wanted to have these kind of like set in stone meeting times so that we can meet and such a huge factor in keeping up with any kind of goals is community, is that accountability. And it's easier for whatever reason sometimes to show up for others than it is for ourselves. So it kind of hits on all the fronts and it's just great to be able to connect with people that understand exactly what the other is going through in a lot of ways. So thank you for making these calls what it is and for showing up. It's so, so awesome. Jennifer, I will check on that. And I believe it's Deepa who is the admin that usually lets everybody in. I know that she was at a conference this week, so it may have been a bit of a delay for that reason. So I can definitely go ahead and check it out, make sure that you're approved. Amazing. So if there's no more questions coming in from everybody, I want to wish you a beautiful rest of your Friday, wherever it is that you are. Beautiful rest of your morning, evening, afternoon, night, I don't know. But I hope you have a lovely time and we will see you all next Friday during the Q and A. So have an amazing weekend everybody. Take care.
