All The Things You Have To Do In Your Moving Company
Louis Massaro argues that reframing "I have to" as "I get to" changes how you show up. Most obligations in your moving company stem from choices you made, and dread tanks your performance. Start the week grateful instead.

It's Luis Massaro. And welcome to another episode of the Moving Mastery Podcast.
Hey, what's up, guys? Good morning. It's Luis Massaro. It's Monday. I am driving, but don't worry, I will keep my eyes on the road. I just wanted to make sure I got on here with you today on this Monday and talked about some good stuff to get you going.
But I want to talk to you this morning about all the things that you have to do today, all the things that you have to do this week, all the things that you're trying to get accomplished in your business and your perspective on those things. Because, you know, as a business owner, it's really, you know, people really underestimate how much.
Your success comes from how you view things and how you view, you know, what you need to get done and what you need to get accomplished. And this morning, I found myself feeling like, you know, man, I need to do all this stuff. I have to do all this stuff. But something that I learned a long time ago that I want to share with you is that, you know, if you're able to, you know, shift that perspective from, you know, I have to do all these things and realize that for the most part, you know, and tell. Let me know if you agree with this. I mean, but for the most part, everything that you have to do in your life is a result of things that you chose to do, things you wanted to do, right? You wanted to open a business because of all the success and all the rewards and the fulfillment and the money that you'd be able to make, right? You know, you wanted to have kids, you wanted to, you know, get married. You wanted to start that, you know, project or whatever it might be, all these different things that you, you know, create tasks for yourself and create things that you have to, you know, if you start making that shift and look at it like, you know what? These aren't things that I have to do. These are things that I get to do, right? These are things that I'm fortunate enough that I get to do because.
You know, I'm free to make decisions, right? There's a lot of places in the world where people really aren't free to make those decisions, to be able to work on the things that they want to work on. And sometimes it might feel like a pain in the ass. Sometimes you might not feel like doing the things that, you know, you need to do in order to advance your business, advance your life, and sometimes it feels like, you know, like a pain in the ass. Sometimes it feels like things that.
You know, you wish you didn't have to deal with, right? You know, a lot of times in business, there's the gift and there's the curse, right? There's things that, you know are great, and then there's things that just feel like, why do I have to deal with this, right? Why do I have to deal with this customer? Why do I have to deal with this employee that's giving me a hard time? Why do I have to, you know, go through this slow period in the moving business, right, in the winter months where things, you know, the cash isn't flowing like it normally is? Why do I have to deal with all this? And, you know, I found a long time ago, and it really was a time where I was going through some really tough stuff in my business. It was, you know, I expanded in the first year that I decided to expand and open more locations. I opened three additional locations. Hang on a second. Got the heat on here. It's hot. It's been chilly over here in Scottsdale for last week. All right? So starting to sweat. So, you know, I was going through this time in my business where I opened all these additional offices, and I found myself sitting there, you know, getting ready to get on a plane to go deal with those locations, right? Because when I first expanded, I didn't have the processes that I should have had in place before I made that initial expansion, right? I had to do that after. And I found myself sitting there like, man, I have to do this and I have to do that. And it just felt like everything was a hassle. And the problem is, once you start. Start to think about things as, you know, I have to do this, and this is a hassle, all of a sudden, everything in your life becomes a hassle. Everything in your life becomes a problem. And all of a sudden, you're seeing things through a negative lens, right? You're seeing things through a negative set of glasses, if you will, to where now it just. Things become dreadful, right? And that's where I was at. I was, like, dreading getting on these planes. I was dreading having to go to these. I was dreading having to show up and see what was going on with these, you know, in each location and have to fix these problems. And I, you know, was fortunate enough to be able to have someone say to me, like, Louis, you know, you get to do all this stuff. These are your businesses, right? These are your locations. These are seeds that you've planted, right? That the fruit is going to start Growing. You're going to start seeing big results from these. I'm like, you know what? You're right. Like, this is stuff that I get to do. And I get to do it because I chose to do it. I decided that I wanted to expand. I decided that I wanted to. Oh, and that's how you know that we're live when the thing falls off the TV or the thing falls off the car here. So anyways, I'll hold this for now. I got to get a new one of these. This is obviously not a good one. But, you know, I get to do these things. And once I made that shift in my perception on my business and everything, everything that I get to do, you know, all the meetings and, you know, everything that you have to do, right? Like, it all might seem like a hassle. You might have to, you know, and once you start feeling like it's a hassle, everything feels like a hassle, right? You're like, oh, I gotta review my P and L. Oh, I gotta go, you know, to the bank. Or, oh, I gotta, you know, pay these bills. And once you make a shift and you start realizing that everything in your life, for the most part. Yeah, Ted, you saw that was a close one, right?
Everything in your life is really stuff that you get to do for the most part, right? You might have a few things that come very unexpected, but every time those pop up, ask yourself, is this a result of something that I wanted in my life? And I'm trying to take those steps outside of my comfort zone to grow and expand because that's not always comfortable. As we go into this Monday, as you go into this new week, I know there's a lot that you might feel like you have to do.
If you really look at it and you say, you know, what do I really have to do? Any of it. Like, what if I don't? Right? What's going to happen? Especially as a business owner, what's going to happen? Right? Things might not run as smooth, but you really don't have to do it. You're choosing to do it, and it might feel like a hassle, but start to think about, you know, how fortunate you are to be able to have all these things that you get to do, right? To be able to have all these different opportunities to succeed, all these different opportunities to make more money, you know, to be able to fine tune your business, to be able to tweak it and make it more profitable, right? I mean, there's nothing more. To me, there's nothing more beautiful there's nothing more fun than the game of business, right? And that's what it is. It's a game. And, you know, every day you get to go play that game. So if you look at it like a professional athlete, listen, they don't want to go to practice every day, right? There's probably big games they don't really want to go to, right? There's probably times where LeBron or whoever doesn't really want to go play, but I'm sure they remind themselves that they get to do that, right? And so you get to be a business owner, and you get to play in this game of business. And when you start to shift your perspective and look at things that way, it's amazing what it does to your overall productivity, your mindset, your excitement for what's to come, your excitement for the future, right? Because if you're going into your business every day with dread and feeling like, I have to do this, I have to do that, it is affecting your performance. I could tell you that right now, right? It might feel like, nah, I'm still getting done what I need to get done. But it is definitely, sorry, guys, I have to hold this thing because it fell. But, right. Look at that. I have to hold this thing. Matter of fact, I get to hold this thing, right? Because I get to actually talk to you here live on Facebook while I'm driving to the office. And it's all about that shift in perspective, right? So go into this week, start to look at all the things that need to get done and don't feel like I have to get them done, right? Feel fortunate, feel blessed, feel grateful that you get to do those things, right? And you're, for the most part, in control of your destiny and in control of your outcomes in business and the results that you get.
And start putting those things in place to get to the next level, right? I mean, how many times have you made a little adjustment in your business or a little adjustment in your life and you saw major results from that, right? I mean, this perfect example, what I'm talking about right now, just a mindset shift for me, when I decided when was this, this was like mid 2000s to, you know, stop looking at all the things I have to do and start looking at what I get to do. And now today, the minute my mind starts doing that, because it still does, right? It happened today, I started thinking about, I have to do this and I have to do that. And immediately now I know to shift it, because I know damaging that could be if you don't nip that in a butt right away. And so now I'm pulling up, I'm going to the office and I'm walking in with the mindset of, you know what? This is all the stuff that I get to do that I'm fortunate to do. All the things that I'm doing today are because I decided that I wanted to, you know, accomplish a certain thing and these are the steps that I need to take, right? And so go into your week and.
Think about the things that you get to do, right? And that's not even in business, that's with your family, that's with everything that you do. Think about what you get to do. You know, if you're a father, if you're a mother, you know, if you're a son, if you're a daughter, whatever it is, you get to do those things. And whatever, you know, hobbies and what, you know, your workouts, you get to go work out, right? I mean, you don't have to go work out. You chose that you want to go work out because you want to get in shape, you want to be healthy, you want to live longer. So you get to do those, feel fortunate that you have, you know, the most people, the arms and the limbs and everything to be able to go do that stuff, right? You know, sometimes you might feel like, ah, I got to eat this healthy food, right? You don't have to do anything, right? You don't have to do anything. Today you could do exactly what your lower self is calling you to do. If you're like, ah, it's Monday, I got to do all this stuff. I'd rather just, you know, get a bag of potato chips and sit on the couch, then go do that. You don't have to do anything, right? You get to do all this stuff. And when you're, when you own a business, when you run a business, when you manage a business, even if you're an employee of a business, you get to go in and contribute to something bigger than yourself. There's a lot to be said for that. Think about all the people in the world that really just don't have that chance, they don't have that opportunity, right? And everything that you look at as a hassle and a problem in your life right now, think about how it all started. And chances are it started from a decision somewhere that you made, right? That got you there, alright? So it's not about, you know, me telling you that, you know, that everything in your life is okay, right? But you're not gonna get anywhere by just, you know, feeling, like, dreadful going into your week. All right? So, guys, I hope this was helpful. Go out there and crush it this week, all right? You got a full week ahead of you. Go out there. Profit in your business, thrive in your life. I've got to go get myself a new little thingamajigger here to hold this phone in the car so it doesn't fall next time. Hopefully. I caught. Luckily, I caught it, so. All right, I'll check you guys later. Have a great day.
