I know, you know, in some places right now, some people, you know, are experiencing a little bit of a slow time, right? This is not the busiest time of the year. So typically we're not thinking about, you know, hiring movers in this time of the year, right? In other words, movers to work for your company, right? Drivers, helpers, you know, we tend to not really think about that until we start getting busy, which doesn't really happen until next month usually, right? Just, you know, based on the normal, you know, flow of things. But now's the time to start hiring movers because let me tell you, any good solid movers that are out there, right, that need work, that they're looking for a place, maybe they're already trained, right? They're a good driver, they're a good mover. Now's the time where they might be slow, right? They might not have the work that they want at another company and they might be looking for work. If you wait until things start getting busy, it's gonna be very hard to find movers, right? So a lot of times people don't think about this yet, right? But February 15th is a perfect time to really start putting your plans in place to start hiring drivers, start hiring helpers, even if you don't need them now, okay? This is crucial and it's important. And, you know, I'm getting to you early because I want to make sure you understand how important this is, that you have these people in your pipeline ready to go for moving season, alright? So even if you're not ready to hire them today, you need to start putting your ads out, right? You need to start doing your interviews and you need to start building your mover database to be able to kind of, you know, have them ready to go when you need them as things start to pick up, you know, really, probably next month, right? That's when things start to pick up in the moving industry. So, you know, you know, when we're sitting here in February, a lot of times things are always slower than they are the rest of the year. And I hope that's not the case for a lot of you guys. I hope you're out there crushing it. Let me know who's crushing it right now. And you know, it's important to start thinking ahead and start planning ahead. And I know hiring movers is a struggle for a lot of people right now. Let me give you some tips on ways to go about doing this to where it doesn't have to be so challenging. It doesn't have to be so difficult. By the way, before I go any further, make sure you are signed up. You've got your tickets for moving sales Academy Live. We're 80% sold out. I don't want to see you miss your chance to get a ticket this year. Last year, a lot of people missed out on their opportunity, and I want to make sure you get in all right. But talking about hiring movers, first thing you got to do, you gotta, gotta, gotta do is make hiring movers a priority. I know this sounds simple, I know this sounds easy, I know it sounds obvious, but, you know, too many people say, I have a tough time hiring movers. We need helpers, we need drivers. And when I ask them, you know, what are you doing right now to bring them in? Typically, there's not really much going on right when you need sales, right when you need to get business in the door, right. You're get very aggressive on the marketing, you get very aggressive on the sales, I hope, right on both sides when you need to start bringing that business in. Well, it's the same thing with your movers. You can't take on more work unless you have the workforce to do the jobs, right. So you got to make sure that you prepare yourself and you do it early, early on, right? This is the time to start. Bring them in, interview them, Let them know that you're going to start getting busy very soon. And you wanted to get the right people in so that you could qual them, get them trained, and get them on the job. Even if you're not ready to put them to work yet, don't be afraid to start interviewing, meeting them, and then essentially building your mover database of the people and the positions that are qualified that you want them to come work for you.
That's if you're looking for qualified.
Experienced movers. And remember, just because they worked at a different company does not mean that they're qualified or experienced. They may have worked at somewhere, you know, at another moving company in town for, let's say, five Years. But they might have been doing things the wrong way. They might have learned bad habits, they might have learned bad traits. So don't just assume, oh, you worked in another moving company, great, come over here, get on board, I'll put you on a truck, right? But if you're hiring, if you're looking to hire professionals that have been in the industry that do have moving experience, you need to start doing that now. Don't wait till it starts getting busy because everybody in your market is going to be trying to hire them. Now's your time to get in there early and grab the good guys, all right? It's also a time, February 15, where you have enough time to really get serious about putting your mover training program in place right now, that's different for everybody. But it's important that you have a training program. Let me tell you why the better training program you have. The. Your need for experienced movers that have worked at a moving company goes down, right? Because if you're going to train them on how to move furniture, if you have that process laid out for them and you actually put them in your office or in your warehouse and you run them through the process, then you can now look for just good quality employees. Good quality employees where you don't have to be stuck looking for someone that knows how to pad a chair or that knows how to load a truck, Right? They know how to put the base and load the tiers and all that. You don't have to find that if you are going to train them. So you have to ask yourself this. It's going to get busy, period. Right? I've seen a few people say it's slow, and that's typical for this time of year. So if it's slow for you, hang in there. Things are about to turn around real quick. All right? Don't even stress it. Just remember, if for any reason you were, you know, in a bad position, which happened to me my second year in business, I didn't realize things were going to dip off like they do in the off season. Because my first year in business, we were such, you know, we were on such an incline that I didn't even feel it. But my second year in business, as things started to dip off, I felt it. So I understand if that's where you're at right now. But, no, things are about to pick up and things are about to get busy and prepare yourself and get your movers in place and you have enough time right now to where, if you're not as busy as you want to be. And you have this time, use this time and create a mover training program for yourself. Doesn't have to be anything extravagant. It just has to be. How do you teach them the basics? How do you get from the very, very basic of, like, how to pad a chair, right, all the way to how you want them to interact with your customers? It's not just about how to move furniture, right? A lot of it is how you want them interacting on the job, on the day of the move, what the process is, what they need to do, what time they need to be at the office, what time they're expected to be at the job based on when they leave the office, what they should do as soon as they get there, right? What the driver should do, what the helper should do.
What they, you know, like, in other words, I'll give you an example. When you. When your movers go up to the house, let the driver walk up to that house, okay, with his paperwork in hand, with the crew behind them, everybody in uniform, the crew's got pads on their shoulders. They're ready to go, right? The first thing that happens is they introduce themselves to the customer, introduce everybody on the crew to the customer. The driver can take care of the paperwork while the helpers are protecting the door frames, protecting the stair rails, letting that customer know they're taken care of. This doesn't just happen naturally. And just because you hire somebody with experience from another company doesn't mean that they're going to come in and do that stuff. These are things that you need to put in place and make part of your process in your company and train them on. All right? So I know you probably know this, but we're talking about this today because I want you to get out ahead of the competition that's gonna happen to find good movers in your market. All right? Get out there early, start interviewing, start figuring out who's gonna be a good fit for your company. And just keep them all in a spreadsheet, keep them all on a database to where even if you can't put them to work today, you know how to reach out to them a month from now, right? Speaking of a month from now, exactly a month from today is Moving Sales Academy Live. Make sure you go to moving seminar.com, get your tickets, do not wait. We're gonna sell out very soon. We're 80% full at this point. So listen, make hiring a priority, all right? Meaning, like, don't say, I'm having a tough time hiring movers when you know, March, April, May comes around and not do anything about it. Get aggressive about it. Place additional ads. All right? Have time blocks set up where you have them come in and you're able to interview them right there on the spot. During the interview, have them pad a chair, something simple to where you could see did they take the pad and throw it over the chair or did they lay the pad on the floor, put the chair in the pad and wrap it up like they're supposed to? Right. Little small things to be able to tell if they know what they're doing. But start rounding them up now and get aggressive about it. Right. If you're placing ads, place more ads. Right. You have an ad maybe on indeed, place an ad on Craigslist. Place that ad three times a week minimum. Alright? Yes, I know it costs money every single time that you place the ad. But you know what's gonna cost you more money? Having an opportunity to book moves that you can't book because you don't have enough movers in uniform ready to do the job. All right, Anybody that's performed on a high level, they're starting to think about this stuff now. They're starting to think about this stuff early. You want to be proactive, you want to get out ahead of the curve and get these movers in your, you know, database and in your circle so that you have them when things start getting busy. This way, when you come to moving sales academy and I show you how to build a sales machine for your business, you could go back, book more moves, have the movers to get them serviced and make a ton of money this year. Listen, I hope this was helpful. Make sure you go to moving seminar.com, get your tickets, I'll see you guys later. Go out there every single day. Profit in your business, thrive in your life. I'll talk to you guys soon. Take it easy.
