As a mentor, there's nothing that makes me more proud when a student has excelled at what I've done. And we have a handful of them, by the way. But this next student has a 2.5 million annual dollar business. And I am proud to say that's bigger than my signing service. Very proud. My dream is every single one of you are wealthier than me. Every single one of you have bigger businesses than me. There's nothing I want more. And you'd be better than me. And this next student. To say I am proud of him is an understatement. And I'm not only proud of him because how much money he makes or how big his business is, he gives back. He is the epitome of what a loan signing system student is. I truly believe good things happen to good people. And because he's such a good person, which makes him a good businessman, makes him a good leader in his Tampa community for loan signing system. And so I am so excited to announce and introduce the one and only, the most successful loan signing system student. Can we all stand up and give it up for Mr. Calvin Darvin?
The King's time is around the. Kenny. Kenny, Hop. Let's get him. I spit it through the wire, man. Lss, what's good? Lss, what is good? Let's go, let's go, let's go. Hey, my first question, where my Florida people at? Florida, where you at? All right now. Florida. Don't. Hey, don't turn me up. Florida. Let's go, baby, let's go. Wow. Wow. This is amazing. This is amazing. Thank you, thank you. I remember, I remember being in college at Florida A and M University. Any rattlers in the building? There we go. It's a rattler. Everywhere you go, everywhere you go, you got a rattler. My girl was like, what if there's no rattlers? Trust me, there's always gonna be a rattler in the building. But I remember being at orientation at famu. I was a young, young knucklehead. I had just got on campus. I was 18 years old and I was in an auditorium. We were doing orientation and there was a gentleman on stage. And he comes out, he gets giving his presentation, I'm listening. And he opens. He says, I never imagined I would be in front of this many people. I'm thinking in my head, okay, bro, everybody says that. Listen, guys, I never imagined I would be speaking to a thousand people. Anything is possible. Let's go. Just the beginning. Just the beginning. Let's go, guys. You know the funny Thing about success, going after it, chasing your dream, doing the next big thing, starting the business, doing something that's never been done before, going against all odds is we're always looking for that magic pill, that magic formula, that thing that's gonna poof. I'm the next Elon Musk that's gonna get us the milli, the two milli. That magic thing, the social media strategy. What is that guy doing on social media? The click funnels. Guys, we already got it. Everybody in this room got it. It's your mindset. We just have to rewire our minds. We have to rewire our mindset around the success. And there's three ingredients that go into that mindset that I'll be talking about today. One, Commitment. Commitment. In my opinion, the most powerful thing is any human being can do is commit to one single course of action 100%. 100%. Not 99, not 99.5, not 99.9, 100% all the way in. That's what we'll be talking about. And number two, showing up. We've been here for 24 hours. Mark done brought EOS, he done brought 10k notary public loan, signing agents, six figure signing agents, seven figure signing service owners. All these different people to talk to us. But the difference maker is going to be who implements, who shows up and takes the action. That will be the difference maker, I promise you. Some of you all are going to go home and you guys are going to implement. You guys are going to show up, you're going to take the action, you're going to do what the escrow officer said on stage. And sadly some people won't. That don't take no special talent number three, keeping the right attitude. Keeping the right mental attitude. Life is going to hit us, life's going to jab us, it's going to punch us in the face. Things are going to happen, we're going to get disappointed. All type of stuff is going to happen. Guess what? We got to keep the right attitude and never give up. Never give up, ever. I remember reading books when I started my personal development journey. Reading books. I'm flipping through them, flipping through them, flipping through them, flipping through them, flipping, flipping, flipping, flipping, flipping. Where is it? Where's the secret? Where's the social media strategy? Where's the click funnels? Where is it, where is it, where is it? All these personal development books I'm reading and all of them say the same thing. Mindset, mindset, get your mind right. Nobody don't want to hear that. No, get your mind right. Listen, I'm thankful to be here. I am thankful to be on this stage in front of you all today to share my story, to share my testimony, to share what I've been through, to hope to inspire you all. I am thankful to be on the biggest notary training platform stage in America. Let's go. Ye. I would like to take a moment to acknowledge my support system and those who helped me throughout this journey. Number one, God. I'm a God fearing, God fearing man. Thank you, God. Without God, none of this is possible. Number two, my mom. You'll hear throughout this journey. Hey. You'll hear throughout this journey, my mom was always there, there for me. She may be mad at me, she may be cussing me out along the way, but she there for me. There we go. There we go. And number three, my girl Skylar. She's right there. Shout out to sky, guys. I had to get. I had got a little cold last week. She nursed me up. Make sure I'm good to be here. Appreciate you, Sky. Number four, my staff, Carl, Andre, Noah. Shout out to Noah. He's in the building right here. Let's go. Noah, Leslie, Roxy, Ashley, Heather. Everybody, Rochelle, Everybody at the CC team. You know, the beautiful thing about this notary public loan signing agent business that we do is you can build it how you want to. Remote online, full time, part time, in person signing service. You can do whatever you want. Who here loves, who here loves being a notary public loan signing agent? Let's go. Hey, until you get the person who want to read everything. Yeah. Until you get that guy who want to read the entire package and now you're sitting there. That's always fun. Hey, who here want to blow their business up? I said, who here want to blow your business up? Let's go. All right. Guess what though. Guess what. There's going to be adversity along the way. Life's going to hit you. Things are going to happen. Things are not going to go your way all the time. My story is a story of adversity. It's also a story of commitment. Committing myself fully, committing myself fully to something. It's also a story of showing up and a story of keeping the right attitude the entire time. So, guys, how it all started for me. I was born in Wellington, Florida. And from the very beginning, it was me and my mom. It was just me and my mom. My pops passed when I was seven years old. Seven years old. That was my first piece of adversity. And let me tell you, that Was my dude. That was my guy. And the funny thing about the relationship with me and my father and me and my mom was that my pops was actually the softy. He was the soft one. Any. Anything I wanted, oh, he getting it. Anything I want to do? Yep. If I wanted to do something I knew I had no business doing, I'm asking my pops. I'm asking my pops. So I would always want to go down to the lake, hang out with my friends. I was like, five years old. I ain't going to ask my mom. I'm going to ask my pops. I ain't got no business at no Lake at 5 years old with my friends. My pops, like, yeah, go ahead, son. And my pops used to always joke with my mom. He would say, sabrina, me and my son gonna leave you to go hunt alligators. We gonna leave you. Gonna go live in a while. I used to love when he said that. I'm like, oh, that sound like fun. But he was just messing with her. And I've come to learn. I have come to learn that my entrepreneurial drive and my entrepreneurial spirit actually comes from my father. When I was five. Yeah, when I was five or six. When I was five or six, people would ask me, calvin, what do you want to be when you grow up? I would say, garbage man. I thought it was so cool. You hang on the side of the garbage truck, hanging on the side of the garbage truck, jump off, grab the garbage container. Boom. You throw it in there. I thought that was so cool. So I would tell people, adults would literally ask me, what do you want to be when you grow up? A garbage man. My pop sent me down one day. He said, son, it's okay if you're the garbage man, but just make sure you own the damn company. So I've learned that's where my drive comes from. So my pops ended up passing. My pops passed at seven. And from there it was when I was seven. And from there, it was just me and my mom. It was just me and my mom. I watched my mom do everything in her power to raise a man. Work, holidays, late nights, early mornings. Everything in her power to make sure I'm good. And she still made my football games, my basketball games, my graduations, my track meetups, still did all of that. If you were a mom and you would do whatever to make sure your son or your daughter is straight. Let me hear it. Come on, let's go. Let's go. Shout out to all the moms in the building. So at the age of eight, at the age of eight, I started playing football. Eight years old, I started playing ball. Oh, my gosh. I fell in love. I fell in love with that football. From 8 years old to 22, 14 years, I was committed one single thing, make it to the NFL. I had traded in my dreams of being a garbage man to play pro football, and that's what I did. So 14 years committed, couldn't tell me nothing. Football ends up leading me to Florida A and M University, where I majored in. Where I majored in football. At least that's what I would tell people. So I was all ball. College for me was just the next step to get to the NFL. It was literally just the next step for me. So I get on campus, 18 years old, I'm ready to go, but I got a problem. I got a problem. I'm 6 3, 170 pounds, trying to play defensive end. To put this into perspective, guys, I'm the size of Mark Wills. I'm the size of Mark Wills. Imagine him trying to play pro football. He probably want to stick to notary training, right? But no. So I get to campus, I got a problem. I'm small. So I'm like, okay, I need to get in the weight room. I need to start working out. I need to throw on some weight. But I don't know nothing about working out. I don't know how to hit my hammies, hit my quads, hit my pecs, do all these crazy things. Plyometrics, count my calories. All these things that go into working out and building a body, I have no clue how to do at this point. But guess what I do. I commit. Anyways, so I start working out daily. I'm messing up. I'm not doing the workouts right. Things aren't going right. But I'm learning. I'm learning as I go. I'm learning how to count the calories. I'm learning how to build my body correctly. And guess what happens when I commit? My friends start calling me crazy. Oh, man. Come on, man. Let's go hang out at the set, man. You don't ever want to go to the set no more. Rattlers. We know about the set. You don't want to go to the club. We don't party no more, man. Come on, man. Take it easy. Take a day off. That's what happens when you commit. So I ignore them, and I stay focused. And by my senior season, my senior season, this is 2017. By my senior season in 2017, I'm now 6, 5, 250 pounds. Over the course of four years, I was able to throw on 80 pounds. I'm ready to go. We've gone through training camp. We went through 2A days. For those of you who don't know what two days are, it's two practices in one day. And the hot talent has his son. We. We've gone through all of that. Ready to go. I'm the captain of the team, ready to go. All the hard work that I put in is now paying off. So first game of the season, which. This picture right here where I got to do it like that. That's first game of the season right there. Texas Southern. We were playing Texas Southern. This is now September 2017. We're playing Texas Southern and LA Rams. Los Angeles Rams are in the building to see your boy play. So all the work is now paying. Hard work is now paying off. LA Rams are in the building. So we come out the gate against Texas Southern, killing them, crushing them. First quarter up, second quarter up, third quarter up. Killing them. I got a sack, deflection, multiple QB rushes. Ladies, if you don't know what I'm talking about, I'm just having a good game. I'm having a good game. All right. Having a great game. Great game. So the coaches make a decision. They're like, all right, we're gonna take all the starters out of the game. We're take all the starters out of the game. And they do. They take the starters out. Then my position coach, he comes to me, he says, yo, Darvill. Yo, Darvill, you want to go back in the game? I'm like, of course, coach. I want to go back in the game. I'm a competitor. So I go back in. We line up as usual. I get in my stance as a dn. They hike the ball. I come off the ball. Boom. I get around the tackle. Boom. I hit the quarterback. Soon as he throws the ball again, line up, they hike it. I come off the ball, pop. I go down. Career over, dream over. Who here has had a dream in. Yeah, dream over like that? 14 years and it's over. Medical staff comes onto the field, they're checking on me. They take me over to the bench, and the team's there. The medical staff is there, and my mom is there. Somehow she was able to get onto the field. I don't know how she did this to this day, 40,000 people stadium. She was able to get onto the field through security and to the bench with the team. With the team. I don't know, Moms, how y' all do that. She always did that when I got hurt. So she. I don't know. I don't. She knew something, but she was. She was there, though, so. So the staff is testing me now to see if my Achilles is torn. They put their hand on my foot, and they tell me to press my foot down. The doctor who was testing my foot is looking up at the other doctor. He says, like. I'm like, what does that mean? What does that mean? What does that mean? That was the confirmation that my Achilles was torn. Because if you tear your Achilles, you can't press your foot down. So that was the confirmation for that. And then, you know, I went to the doctor, got MRIs and all that stuff. So that night, I'm in the apartment, Mom's there on my crutches, and I break down. I lean up against the wall, and I apologize to my mom because I felt like I let her down. Not only was this my dream, but this was my way of taking care of my mom. I don't know no other way. This is all I knew, football. So I apologized to her, and my dream's over. So I end up graduating in 2017. I got my diploma in hand. I got my diploma in hand, and now I'm lost. I've lost my dream. I've lost a thing I put 14 years. 14 years of hard work into. I have lost this thing. So I'm in a dark place. And while I'm in this dark place, I do what I do best. I commit again. But this time, I commit to all the wrong things. I commit to negativity. I commit to girls drinking alcohol. All the wrong things I am now doing. And while I'm committed to all this negative energy, I'm working construction job, literally being paid ten dollars an hour. Ten bucks an hour, working this job. And one day, they had us in the hot sun, moving bricks back and forth. We get a wheelbarrow, we take the wheelbarrow over here, we pile it up with bricks. We bring that wheelbarrow back over here, we dump the bricks, we take it back, we'll pile it up with more bricks. Doing this back and forth for hours. I promise you, for hours. I'm like, wow. The manager, she lets us go on break. And I'm thinking in my head, I'm like, wow, this is what my life has come to. 14 years of fighting for this dream. I done graduated college. This is what I'm doing. So I go on my phone. I'm not looking for anything in particular, not looking for anything and click on my phone, I go on YouTube and the first video that pops up is how to make money wholesaling real estate. This video changed my life. This video changes my life. So I go back home, laying in bed, I'm like, man, Calvin, this true story. I'm like, man, Calvin, you are committed to all the wrong things. The girls, the party, and the drinking, smoking. All these wrong things you are now doing. If you take. This is energy, though. This is energy. If you take this commitment to this negativity and you pour it into positive things, building your life, building yourself, building your finances, nobody can stop you. So that's what I end up doing. So I decide I'm going to wholesale real estate, and I wholesale real estate for a year, and guess what? I don't make a dime. I don't make a dime. But I learned so many things about a world I had never, ever heard about or been introduced to, ever. Flipping investment strategies. All these different things I learned. So one day I'm out looking for distressed property to wholesale. I don't make a dime, But I learned so many things about a world I had never, ever heard about or been introduced to, ever. Flipping investment strategies. All these different things I learned. So one day I'm out looking for distressed property to wholesale, Riding in my car, looking for property, and I turn on a podcast. Turn this podcast on. It's loud. This. This loud. Dude, come on. Yo, yo, yo, yo, yo, man, listen. Notary, public loan, signing agent, best job in America. 150 bucks an hour. You can do it. You can do this, you can do that. Best job in America. It was Mark Wills. I'm like, I like this dude. I like his energy. But he said something that really caught my attention. He said, not only can you do the individual notary, but you can build it up to be a signing service owner. I'm like, boom, I got it. I'm gonna be a signing service owner. I don't even know what a 1003 is. I know what it's the right to cancel all these fancy things that you come to learn as you go throughout your journey. I don't know. So I hop on the phone with my mom. I'm like, yo, Ma, have you heard of a note? Cause she's the only person in my family that had bought a home. So I'm like, yo, Ma, do you know of a notary at a closing? And she's like, no. But she's like, I do remember someone being there with a stamp. That is all I needed to get started. So I make another commitment. This is now July 2019, and I got two months. I'm still in Tallahassee. I am still in Tallahassee at this point. And I have two months left on my lease. So I decide that. And after my two months, I'm moving to Tampa to live with my mom. So I'm leaving Tallahassee to go to Tampa to live with my mom. So I say I'm going to take these two months to go all in on this LSS course and get my notary certificate. I'm going to take these two months to learn everything about this course. And that's what I do. So I take the two months to learn everything about the course, and then I arrive in Tampa. Got my LSS certificate, got my notary seal. I've been to the Mail 50 times in the course of two weeks to see if my stamp came in. Who remembers that? Checking the mail every day. Is it in? Is it in? Nah, not yet. Two hours. Is it in? Nah. Checking every single day. So seal comes. Been through the course, and now I got a small problem. Some of you all may have this problem if you're new. I ain't got no business. I ain't got no business. I got my certificate. I got my stamp. Where the car come on, where the clothes is at. I ain't got no business. So I make a decision. I make a decision. I'm Gonna call all 300 signing services in America. Now, I don't want to do this. I want to call all these signing services. What if they hang up on me? What if they come, pop through the phone and hit me across the head with a bat? All these crazy thoughts are running through my head. But I'm broke. I'd much rather go through the hang up than be broke. So I make a decision to call every signing service in America. So hop on the phone. Hi, this is Jeff with 1, 2, 3 signing service. Hey, Jeff. My name is Calvin. I'm a mobile notary in Click. Dang. Okay, Jeff. Okay, Jeff. Call again. Hey, this is Amy with 123Signing Service. Hey, Amy, my name's Calvin. I'm a mobile notary at Click. People are hanging up on me. I'm calling. This line is disconnected. I make a decision. I'm gonna call all 300 signing services. Lines are disconnected. I'm doing all of these things, but I'm still pushing through it. And mind you, mind you, my mom thinks I'm going crazy. I'm living with my mom. She's like, son, why are you calling all these companies? Why are you calling all these companies? Like, you sure you want to do this notary thing? Just go back to school, get your mba. See, my mom, she was being a mom. She didn't understand that her son was trying to build his business. Just like my friends in college didn't understand my dream of going to the NFL. They were just being friends. So right here, this is a cold call strip. I own a signing service today. You could pop a shot of this script right here. Take a shot of the script. This is what I would want to hear if you call me. Obviously you want to tell me how you can help me and everything, but I'm going to tell you now. This script is not what matters. Now. It matters to an extent, but what really matters is your commitment to making the calls, okay? Your commitment. You can't be making excuses. You gotta make the calls. You gotta show up and take action. And guess what? When somebody hangs the phone up on you, you gotta keep the right attitude. So all this is going on. My mom thinks I'm going crazy. All this is going on. And then I land my very first closing. $60 refi. Baby. I land my first closing. $60 refinance. Who here remembers their drive to their very first closing? Let's go. Let's go. Yeah, that's a long drive right there. That's. That's a long drive. I had a long drive. It was an hour and a half. Right here, Right here. All that negativity going through my mind. You don't know loan documents. You're not a notary public loan signing agent. You were just in college a year and a half ago. All this negativity is running through my mind. What do I do? Keep my foot on the pedal? So I arrive to the lovely couple's home. Sitting outside the home when I tell you, it took everything in me. It took everything in me not to just drive off. So I end up getting. I get out the car, I go up to the home, knock on the door. Lovely lady, super nice lady. She greets me. Come in. She's like, oh, come on in. We're so happy you're here. We. My husband. My husband. He's at the grocery store right now. He'll be home in 30 minutes. He forgot about today's appointment. I'm like, really? On my very first closing. So I take this time. I take this time to go sit at the table and flip through the documents. I take this time to sit at the table, flip through the documents and go over them. I'm flipping through the documents. I'm looking at the CD like, I don't know this stuff. I'm looking at the mortgage. I'm like, oh, God. This only reinforces the fact that I don't really know the documents. So the gentleman arrives, we go through the closing. It takes us two hours. Two hours to get through those refinance documents together. We read them as a collective. I read the husband read, and the wife read all of the documents. But we got through it. And guess what? I kept a smile on my face the entire time. The entire time. Yeah. And they gave me a bottle of wine for the road. So from there, I was committed to my $60 refis. I was committed, but I was committed to learning. I was committed to learning before earning. People were laughing at me. Why are you taking these $40, $50, $60 closings? Because I'm trying to provide value. I'm trying to get my experience up. I'm trying to not be sitting at the closing table for two hours going through the documents. I took this time as a paid internship, I guess you could say. So I'm going through LSS multiple times. Who here has been through LSS more than once? Come on, now. There we go. You got. I'm going through it multiple times. Not just one time. Multiple times. I'm attending weekly mentorships. I'm going to notary meetups. This is a picture from a notary meetup. I drove from Tampa to Orlando to attend the notary meetup. I'm the guy in the back like this. Yeah. So I'm doing all this stuff. I'm participating in the Facebook group. Shout out to Molina, mi amiga. That's where I met Molina at, in the Facebook group. And everybody. Everybody needs to do that. Get someone. If you're just starting off, get someone right along where you're at so you can bounce ideas off each other. You're going through the same struggles. It's more relatable. Don't look up to me. Don't look up to Melina. Get someone right. Right next to you who can relate to what you're trying to go through. That's what we were doing. So I'm doing all of this stuff. I'm reading articles online, trying to educate myself. This is my first, second month. I don't know what these articles are saying. Bond yields, interest rates, and all this stuff. I was just in college. I don't know nothing about all this stuff. But I'm committed. I'm Committed to educating myself so I can provide more value for the customer. So at this point, I don't. If you're just starting off, get someone right along where you're at so you can bounce ideas off each other. You're going through the same struggles. It's more relatable. Don't look up to me. Don't look up to Melina. Get someone right. I don't even understand the difference between title companies and signing services, Honestly, just to be frank, I don't really understand the difference right next to you who can relate to what you're trying to go through. That's what we were doing. So I'm doing all of this stuff. I'm reading articles online, trying to educate myself. I'm literally calling this title company every day. Hey, it's Calvin. You got a closing for me today? No, Calvin, you just called yesterday. We don't have one for you today. Call him again the next day. Hey, it's Calvin again. You got to close them. Calvin, you called us two days in a row. Not yet. We'll be in contact. It's my first second month. I don't know what these articles are saying. Bond yields, interest rates, and all this stuff. I was. I was just in college. I don't know nothing about all this stuff. But I'm committed to. I'm committed to educating myself so I can provide more value for the customer. So at this point, I don't. I now know that probably wasn't the right thing to do, But I don't know, because Susan said yesterday, call every day. Hey, I might start doing that again. Susan said, call every day. So I'm doing all this stuff. I'm doing whatever it takes. I'm doing whatever it takes. I'm committed. I got a friend, she works at a title company. She's the receptionist. I tell her what I do. I'm like, I'm a mobile notary. I would love to help you all with your closings. She's like, oh, yeah, Come on in. I'll introduce you to the closer walk in the office. She introduced me to even understand the difference between title companies and signing services. Honestly, just to be frank, I don't really understand the difference. Hey, this is Calvin. He does mortgages. I look at her like, like, like, no, I'm a mobile. I'm a mobile notary. I can help you with your closings. Super awkward, but, God, I'm literally calling this title company every day. Hey, it's Calvin. You got a closing for me today? No, Calvin, you Just called yesterday. We don't have one for you today. Call him again the next day. Hey, it's Calvin again. I am committed. I am going through the awkward moments. I'm going through the uncomfortable situation. Gotta close. Calvin. Calvin. You called us two days in a row. Not yet. We'll be in contact. I'm going through all of this stuff. I'm doing whatever it takes. I'm taking low paying sign ins, I'm taking long trips right here. This is what an hour and 45 minutes? This is a post in the LSS group. You can look this up. I Posted this on October 11, 2019 hour and 45 minute trip both ways. Because I'm committed. I now know that probably wasn't the right thing to do. But I don't know because Susan said yesterday, call every day, idiot. Because I'm committed. And I got all of this with one goal in mind. Build the signing service. So I end up landing my first direct client. They get my first clothes. Hey, I might start doing that again. Susan said call every day. It's a two and a half hour trip. Guess what I do. So I'm doing all this stuff. I'm just, I'm doing whatever it takes. I'm doing whatever. Take it. I take it because I wanted that relationship. I don't whatever it takes. I'm committed. I got a friend, she works at charge. I don't complain. I take the trip. I take the trip. Trying to secure this relationship, mind you. We work with them today. This is my very first direct client. We still work with them five years across. We still the title company. She's the receptionist, I tell her what I do. I'm like, I'm a mobile notary. I would love to help you work with this client. And now I don't drive anywhere for them. There we go. So I take my trip, take my two and a half hour trip. I arrive to a gas station where I have to meet a lady outside. We sign the gas station or we sign the documents at the gas station on a table. This table has divots in it and all with your clothes. She's like, oh yeah, come on in, I'll introduce you to the closer walk in the office. She introduced me to holes and cracks. All this stuff don't complain, get it done. Take the documents back to Tampa, hand deliver them right there. Hot on your table right here. I hand deliver them to the title company and I always did that, always hand deliver the documents when you close check. Hey, this is Calvin, he does mortgages. I look at her like, no, I'm a mobile notary. I can help you with your closings. Super awkward, but God damn. So I do this. And now this gives me the confidence to keep landing direct clients. So I've got my first one. So now I got, I got the confidence I can get more. I start setting targets. I say I'm gonna drop in five to ten offices a week. Sometimes I would do it, sometimes I wouldn't. But the intention, the intention is there. I'm setting these. I am committed. I am going through the awkward moments. I'm going through the uncomfortable situation targets. I'm going to drop in five to 10 offices a week and just introduce myself. I remember marketing to my very first direct client. Dropping in their office. I'm sitting in the car, sitting in the car, negative thoughts running through my head. What if I walk in, I greet the escrow officer, introduce myself and she reaches on the table, she grabs the bat, she hits me, she rolls me out of the room and all of them start kicking me. Since I'm going through all of this stuff, I'm doing whatever it takes. I'm taking low paying sign ins, I'm taking long trips right here. This is what, an hour and 45 minutes? This is a post in the LSS group. You can look this up. I Posted this on October 11th, 2019 hour. All these negative crazy things are going through my head that we know that's not gonna happen. But I'm thinking this stuff, I don't know why, so I look down, I'm in the car still. AC's on 60. Sweet sayings. I'm so nervous in 45 minute trip both ways because I'm committed. I don't want to do this, but I still do it. I get out the car, I go in there, I introduce myself to the escrow officer, I greet her, she greets me. I tell her what I do. I tell her how I can help her. I, I give her a gift. And then I leave. And guess what? I don't die, idiot. Because I'm committed. And I got all of this with one goal in mind. Build the signing service. So I end up landing my first direct client. They give me my first clothes. I don't die. I'm still here. I'm still here. And guess what? They don't give me no business the first time I walk in. I have to persist. I have to persist. We have to change our expectations. It's a two and a half hour trip. Guess what? I do our dictations when we're marketing, they're not going to be like, oh my. Oh, my gosh, Laura, Laura's finally here, lady Judy Joe, come out. Laura's fine. I take it, I take it. Because I wanted that relationship. I don't upcharge, I don't complain. I take the trip. I take the trip. Suddenly, here she walked in. Here's all of our files, Lord, we have. I'm sorry, Lord. Trying to secure this relationship, mind you. We work with them today for picking on you. But we have to change our expectations because we have to persist. We're gonna have to drop in over and over. We're gonna have to send weekly emails. When I get home on Monday, I'm gonna type up my weekly email and guess what? I'm gonna be nervous about them. Like, oh, my gosh, they don't like this, they don't like this, they don't like this. They're gonna hate. This is my very first direct client. We still work with them five years across. We still me, boop. I'm going to send it. I'm going to send it anyways. We have to persist. We have to do everything. We have to get creative. We can't just keep dropping in now. You drop in a couple of times, but you got to be creative. You got to be creative. Like the lady said on stage, the escrow officer worked with his client. And now I don't drive anywhere for them. There we go. So I take my trip, take my two and a half hour trip. I arrive to a gas station where. Where I have to meet a lady outside. We said sponsor events, come to our events, bring us to events, go on Facebook, type in 1, 2, 3, title. Okay, they're having an event. I'm going to the event. I show up at the event. Judy, I didn't know you were going to be here at your event, even though I just looked at it on Facebook. Sign the gas station or we signed the documents at the gas station on a table. This table has divots in it. And you gotta do all, you gotta do all of that stuff. I promise you. Professional soccer is what they call it. You have to be able to do that. So I go to my first networking event. I'm thinking in my head like, man, what do I talk about? Holes and cracks, all this stuff. Don't complain, get it done. Take the documents back to Tampa, hand deliver like, I was just in college. These people got 20 years, 30 years of professional careers. Like, what am I going to talk to them about? I don't want to be the awkward guy in the corner drinking a drink. But I go anyways. And everything goes well because most people deliver them right there, hot on your table right here. I hand deliver them to the title company and I always did that, always hand deliver the documents when you can't just wanna talk about themselves and you just sit there and you listen. So everything, everything. So I do this and now this gives me the confidence it's going great. I'm pushing through all of this stuff, all my anxiety because I know my goal, build the signing service, but to keep landing direct clients. So I've got my first one. So now I'm still at my mom's and she still thinks I'm going crazy. I'm in the shower, I'm screaming my pitch from the shower. She's outside in the kitchen. She, she hears me screaming my pitch. I'm like got, I got the confidence. I can get more. I start setting targets. I say I'm gonna drop in five to ten offices a week. Hey, this is Joe. Thank you for calling first American title. Hey, Joe, my name's Calvin. I'm a mobile notary. I was. Sometimes I would do it, sometimes I wouldn't. But the intention, the intention is there. I'm setting these. I'd love to be of service to your company. I cover the following areas. I have a mobile printer and a mobile. I'm literally targets. I'm going to drop in five to 10 offices a week and just introduce myself. I remember marketing in my very saying this stuff in the shower to myself. My mom's listening. She's like, oh lord, oh lord, he going crazy. It's like 10 o' clock at night. I got mark wheels blasting from my bedroom. She thinks I'm going completely crazy. First direct client dropping in their office. I'm sitting in the car, sitting in the car, negative thoughts running through my. But I am committed. I am 100% committed all the way. And guess what is happening while she thinks I'm going crazy? My revenue is go ahead and what if I walk in, I greet the escrow officer, introduce myself. She reaches on the table, she grabs the bat, she hits me, she rolls me out of the room and all of them start kicking me. When it's going up, it is going up. And then all these negative crazy things are going through my head that we know that's not going Covid hits, Covid hits happen. But I'm thinking this stuff. I don't know why. So I look down. I mean I was just in College a year and a half ago. Economists are predicting economic contractions. The world is shutting down. All this is going on, all this negativity. Boom, boom, boom, boom, boom, boom. Hitting me. I'm like, okay, how am I going to get through this? How am I supposed to go to a closing with a smile on my face? And all of this in the car still. AC is on 60 sweat sayings. I'm so nervous. I don't want to do this, but I still do it. I get out the car, I go in there, I introduce myself to the escrow officer. I greet her. She greets me. I. I tell her what I do. I tell her what's going on. I push forward anyways. I push forward anyways. And at this time, I've literally only been in Tampa for nine months. I've come from college, moved to Tampa. I don't got any friends because I've been going so hard on my business. I've been going so hard on my business. But I make a decision. I'm going to push forward. If I can help her, I give her a gift, and then I leave. And guess what? I don't die anyways. So rates drop. I don't die. I'm still here. I'm still here. And guess what? They don't give me no business the first time I walk in. I have to persist. I have to persist. We have to change our expectations. When we're marketing, they're not gonna be like, oh, my. Oh, my gosh, Laura, Laura's finally here. Lady Judy Jo, come out. Laura's finally here. She walked in. Here's all of our files, Laura. I'm sorry, Laura, for picking on you, but we have to change our expectations because we have to persist. We're gonna have to drop in over and over. We're gonna have to send weekly emails. When I get home on Monday, I'm gonna type up my weekly email. And guess what? I'm gonna be nervous about them. Like, oh, my gosh, they don't like this. They don't like this. They don't like this. They're gonna hate me. Boop. I'm gonna send it. I'm gonna send it anyways. We have to persist. We have to do everything. We have to get creative. We can't just keep dropping in. Now. You drop in, title companies close their doors. Other notaries, they stop doing closings. Rightfully so. All these things happen. It becomes the perfect storm. And I'm able to benefit from this because I decided to push through title companies that I Was marketing to start calling me. Hey, Calvin, are you still doing the Notre thing? Yes, I am. Yes, I am. So the rates drops, refi, boom. All this stuff happens. Business starts booming, closing after closing. But guess what? Your boy still feels alone. Still feels alone. Nine closing days, 10 closing days. No one to talk to in between. No one to talk to. When I get back to the house, all this is going on. And there's going to be times in your business where this happens, where you feel like no one can relate to you. Because guess what? They can't. They can't relate to you. Because most people don't have the courage that we have. Most people don't have the courage to fly across the country to a conference on how to blow their business up. But we do. Because we're entrepreneurs. We are entrepreneurs. We do the hard stuff. We do all the stuff nobody wants to do. We make the posts, we send the emails, we do the follow up. We drop in the offices and we do it over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over again. Why? In a couple times. But you gotta be creative. You gotta be creative. Like the lady said on stage, the escrow officer. Why? Because we are crazy ass entrepreneurs that will sponsor events, come to our events, bring us to events, go on Facebook, type in 1, 2, 3, title. Okay, they're having an event. I'm going to the event. I show up at the event, do whatever it takes to see our businesses succeed. Judy, I didn't know you were going to be here at your event, even though I just looked at it on Facebook. So I stay focused. I stay focused. Yep, yep, yep, yep, yep, yep, yep, yep, yep. Yeah, I stay focused despite all of that because I'm committed to my goal. So I'm. Business is going well. I'm doing about 100. You got to do all, you got to do all of that stuff. I promise you 125 closings a month. Everything's going great. So my mom, she starts seeing me. Professional soccer is what they call it. You have to be able to do that. You know, I go to the mailbox, I come back with my checks. I come in the house. I'm still living with mom now. So I go to my first networking event. I'm thinking in my head like, man, what do I talk about? She's seeing all these checks. So now she peeking in the room like, oh, business is going well, huh, son? She's like, I was just in college. These people got 20 years, 30 years of profession. See all of this going on. So I make a decision because I got a lot of business now. I got overflow business. I'm like, okay, we're gonna get mom in here. Mind you, she's the same one who, you know, we know now careers, like, what am I going to talk to them about? I don't want to be the awkward guy in the corner drinking a drink. She told me not to do it. So she comes on board, she goes through lss goes through everything, gets certified, gets her seal. This is a amazing success. But I go anyways and everything goes well because most people closings I can't take. She takes. Hey, Calvin, can you do the 9:00am No, I already have a 9:00am But I have a. Just want to talk about themselves. And you just sit there and you listen. So everything, everything's going great. I'm pushing through all of this stuff, all my anxiety, because I know my goal. Big colleague. This is what I would call her. I have a colleague who can do this. This is my mom. So mom comes on. She gets to the point where she's doing 70 closings a month. I'm still doing my hundred plus a month. At this point. Yeah, at this point. I'm 25 years old. I am 25. I've been able to save up $70,000. Now, this is coming from someone who was just in college drinking the signing service. But I'm still at my mom's, and she still thinks I'm going crazy. I'm in the shower, I'm screaming, poking, partying, doing all these stupid things. I've been able to save up this amount of change. And I stay focused. I keep my eye on the prize. My pitch from the shower. She's outside in the kitchen. She hears me screaming my pitch. I'm like, build a signing service. Build the signing service. So now that we have enough business to supply me and my mom, I make a decision. I'm like, January 2021. Hey, this is Joe. Thank you for calling. First American title. Hey, Joe. My name's Calvin. I'm a mobile notary. That's going to be the soft lunch for the signing service. So I'm going to tell us a few select clients. I'm not going to tell everyone. I'm going to tell a few select clients about the signing service that we can help. They love to be of service to your company. I cover the following areas. I have a mobile printer and a mobile. I'm literally, I'm on a nationwide level now. So we do this. I'm still doing my 100 closings a month. Mom's still doing her 70 and we're managing everything in between. I'm pulling over to McDonald's. Literally McDonald's. I'm on my phone saying this stuff in the shower to myself. My mom's listening. She's like, oh, Lord, oh, Lord, he going crazy. It's like 10 o' clock at night. Trying to schedule a closing in Rhode Island, Trying to upload docs from my phone, doing whatever it takes. And at this point, I got Mark Wills blasting from my bedroom. She thinks I'm going completely crazy. I still don't really have a clue what I'm doing. I don't know how I'm gonna hire people, how I'm gonna find people, how I'm gonna do all this stuff. But I'm just building the plane. I'm literally building the plane as I fly it. So we get to the point where we have enough business to hire someone. So I hire my first employee. But I am committed. I am 100% coy. He comes on board. Andre. Shout out to Andre. Committed all the way. And guess what is happening While she thinks I'm going crazy, My revenue is going. It's going up. Who's got a call from Andre in here? There we go. So Andre, it is going up and then it comes on board. Andre doesn't know anything about running a company at this point. But Andre tells me, he's like, listen, I'm a hundred. I tell him. I tell him, I'm like, andre, I need your help. I'm trying to build a multi million dollar business. And he tells me, he says, I'm committed. I'm all the way in. I'll do whatever it takes to make sure we get there. So he comes on board and Covid hits. Covid hits. Then I end up. We end up growing. We set a target to do, I think 200 closings, and then we hit it. And then we set a target to do 300 closings, and we hit it. So we're scaling the company, and then we end up having. I was just in college a year and a half ago. Economists are predicting economic contractions. The world is shutting down. All this is going on. And someone quit. Someone quits to go work at his mom. All this negativity. Boom, boom, boom, boom, boom, boom. Hitting me. I'm like, okay, how am I going to get through this? Or work at his auntie's restaurant. She ends up. He ends up quitting to go work at his auntie's restaurant. And then another one of my employees quits. I'm not for God knows what, God knows what, but she ends up quitting. So we rehire, and then we go on a dull streak. We set a target to do 500 closings, and we go on a dull streak of trying to hit the target, but we keep pushing forward. We never drop the target. And while all of this is going on, my marketing efforts are. Are still the same. Still making calls, still dropping in offices, still attending networking events, still doing all of these things. Mind you, I'm still in my mom's apartment at this point. We've put a seven. We're committed all the way committed. I put a seven foot by five foot conference table in my mom's living room. There's two elevating desks on the side. We got five printers total, one in. How am I supposed to go to a closing with a smile on my face? And all of this. My car went in her car and three in the house. She's not happy about any of this. What's going on? I push forward anyways. I push forward anyways. And at this time, I've literally only been in Tampa for nine months. She's not happy about any of this. But I'm like, mom, we committed. We got to keep going. We got to keep going. So we keep pushing forward, and then we set another target to do about 700. I've come from college, moved to Tampa. I don't got any friends because I've been going so hard on my business closings. We hit it. We hire a couple more people, and then we set a target to do a thousand. And we finally hit 1000. So now we're thinking, everything's great, right? I got like nine employees, 10 employees at this point. I've been going so hard on my business, but I make a decision, I'm gonna push forward. And then we have a major turnover with our staff. We get down to four people. Four people. And we have to rehire and retrain all of these people anyways. So rates drop, title companies close their doors, other notaries. So we rehire. We do it. And now we're at about nine people. Andre runs the company, and we have one goal, to be the largest signing service in. They stopped doing closings, rightfully. So all these things happen. It becomes the perfect storm the nation. So when I look at this story, when I reflect, there's three key ingredients that stand out to me. Not the social media strategy, not the email strategy. And I'm able to benefit from this because I decided but one power of commitment, hundred percent to push through title companies that I was marketing to start calling me. Hey, Calvin, are you still doing the notary thing? Yes, I am. Yes, I am. So the rates drops. There was no 99%. I wasn't trying to be a notary and be a realtor. I wasn't trying to be a notary and sell insurance on the side. I wasn't trying to be a notary in wholesale. I was 100% all the way in on building the signing service. Fully committed from college, from, from being 63170 and then committing to the weight room to being able to build up to 65250. 100% committed. And number two, showing up. Showing up. Like I said, we've been here for 24 hours and we got some speakers coming up that are gonna rock the stage. Mark's gonna give us a whole bunch of value. We all got our notes, but guess what? We gotta go back to our offices and implement. We gotta go back to our offices and take action. And number three. Boom. All this stuff happens. Business starts booming, Closing after closing. But guess what? Your boy still feels alone. Still feels alone. Nine closing days, 10 closing days. No one to talk to in between. No one to talk to. When I get back to the house, all this is going on and there's going to be time. Keep the right attitude. Life's going to hit you. Life will hit everybody. Things will happen. Boyfriend might break up with you, girlfriend. In your business where this happens, where you feel like husband, wife, things will happen. Someone's flight might get canceled. You may be on your way to the closing. Boom. Drop Chick Fil a sauce on your shirt. Like no one can relate to you because guess what? They can't. You gotta keep a smile on your face and you gotta push through and never give up. Guys, they can't relate to you. Because most people don't have the courage, commit, show up, keep the right attitude and you can do whatever. Thank you. All that we have. Most people don't have the courage to fly across the country to a conference on how to blow their business up. But we do. Because we're entrepreneurs. We are entrepreneurs. We do the hard stuff. We do all the stuff nobody wants to do. We make the post, we send the emails, we do the follow up. I've been able to save up this amount of change. And I stay focused. I keep my eye on the prize. Build the signing service. Build the signing service. So now that we have enough business to supply me and my mom, I make a decision. I'm like, January 2021, that's going to be the soft launch for the signing service.
