Are notary signing agents really making $150 per hour? How long does an appointment take?
Personally done a signing in 10 minutes. Literally 10 minutes, $175. But I've also been in signings that have taken three hours. But I would say on average, I tell every one of my students, your goal is to get all your appointments in under an hour. Again, that's an average, meaning some will take 45 minutes, some will take an hour 15. But if you can average an hour appointment, you're a great notary public loan signing agent. I've been to some closings where they're investors and they've done like literally 100 refinances in their life. So they're like, mark, don' give me the paperwork. And that can be as low as 20 minutes. Then you might have first time home buyers are super nervous and they're like, want to read every single page. Then you have everybody in between. So I actually don't like when my students brag they can do a signing in 30 minutes. When you're doing a signing in 30 minutes, you're actually not giving the customer service to the borrower who deserves the best signing experience possible. So I've only done a 10 minute signing because there was an investor and they wanted in and out and they literally only had 10 minutes. When I hear anybody say, oh, I can do a signing in 30 minutes, all I hear is you're not caring about the actual borrower signing the docs. And so I believe a good signing agent averages 45 to 60 minutes because they are actually connecting with the home borrower, having a conversation, making jokes, having a real human interaction. So on average, I tell you about 60 minutes, you don't want to learn how to do it under 30 and you don't want to do it over an hour and a half. Hope this helped.
