I'm always asked, mark, what's the one tip you can give a notary public loan signing agent that will significantly grow their loan signing business? And it's funny, my biggest tip I can give you to grow your signing agent business has nothing to do specifically with being a notary public loan signing agent at all. My one tip for you to grow your signing agent business is to start showing gratitude. I cannot tell you how many notary public loan signing agents that I personally work with on a daily basis with my signing service that act like I am the one that's lucky to be working with them. Like I should feel blessed that they took my order. Escrow officers, mortgage officers, and real estate agents say the exact same thing. There are countless times where notary public loan signing agents don't even say thank you after receiving a signing. Remember, it's the escrow officer that's calling you with business. It's the signing service that's reaching out to you to do their loan signing. What I'm saying here isn't groundbreaking. I understand that. I mean, showing gratitude seems like a basic trait for someone in business for themselves. That being said, there are very few notary public loan signing agents who truly show gratitude on a regular basis. And if you do, you'll stand out from the rest of them. I personally feel privileged when an escrow officer trusts me to do their loan signings and in return, I show them immense gratitude. In fact, I used to give Starbucks cards with every single signing that I did. Not because I was trying to buy their business, because trust me, they know when they're trying to be bought, but because I was really, really thankful for doing business with them. Well, I don't do that. To this day, I do absolutely still bring Starbucks coffees or gift cards to my clients regularly. And I try to buy them lunch often as I can. I always give Christmas cards and birthday gifts. I truly appreciate my clients and they all really know it. I never ever leave an office without verbally thanking them multiple times. When you treat your clients with care, they will start caring for you and in return they will give you their loan signings. I truly believe that gratitude is the reason that I am successful. Am I a good notary public loan signing agent? Absolutely. But bottom line is, what I feel makes me stand out from every other notary public loan signing agent is my gratitude that I show my clients every single day. And I'm not saying gifts and coffee are the only way to say thank you. I also show my gratitude by always going above and beyond for my clients. Think about it like this. Have you ever been to a restaurant, ordered a meal and were disappointed with the way the meal tastes? Then you ask the server to change your order and they replace it, no questions asked. They put a rush on the replacement meal and don't even charge you a dime for the extra trouble. That is a business going above and beyond to show you how they appreciate you being a customer. And I use this exact same philosophy with my clients. If an escrow officer or signing service asked me to go out and get another signature because there was a mistake that they made, do it for free. If they forgot to put something with the loan docs, I run out and take care of it once again for absolutely free. I do everything possible to show them that I appreciate them. And while showing gratitude and appreciation is something we should all exhibit in every facet of our lives, showing it as a notary public loan signing agent will go a long, long way. Because there are few notary public loan signing agents that really do remember you are not an employee of a signing service. Signing services are your customers. Escrow officers are your clients. And like I said earlier with my signing service, I work with so many notary public loan signing agents that make me feel like I'm the lucky one that's working with them. They show zero appreciation. But the signing agents that send me a Christmas card tell me thank you after I give them an order or have my back when I make a mistake are the notary signing agents that I remember. They are the notary signing agents that get my repeat business. Remember that. Show your clients you appreciate them. Show your clients you are thankful. Go above and beyond and you will create loyalty which will result in more loan signings. Show gratitude and your business will flourish. I absolutely promise.
